Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer Review & Swatches

Hey, know what time it is?

Tinted moisturizer time!

You might be living in a cold environment but us New Yorker’s are living the dream. It’s been Spring for the past month or more with temperatures that may go up to 80 this week.

Seriously, it’s pandemonium! The world may end soon.

Time to haul out the TM and get with the lightweight coverage and who better to do the job than Miss Bobbi Brown herself.

Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer is a great foundation alternative when the warmer weather starts setting in. This all in one wonder offers basic coverage, SPF protection (although a little low at 15), and a hydrating feel and finish for the dry skin types. I recommend checking out the Oil Free version if you’re skin is oily.

This is a thinner cream consistency without being too watery or loose. Some tinted moisturizers are such a fail in terms of texture as they are so damn watery! Ugh! But this has a nice creamy texture that’s a bit thinner than Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer. I find it hydrates but doesn’t leave me looking crazy oily or shiny and has a semi-matte finish which looks and feels very natural and weightless.

I don’t recommend tinted moisturizers if you have major issues such as acne scarring, etc…as they offer very basic, sheer coverage and won’t give a completely flawless finish if your skin isn’t already somewhat perfect. However, those dealing with dull skin or just in need of basic coverage can take advantage as they even out skin tones and blend easily leaving behind gently hydrated skin and a perfect canvas for lighter makeup such as cream blush or cheek stain (might as well keep your whole look fresh and flawless when wearing tinted moisturizer why go crazy with heavier makeup?).

I admit, I love Bobbi but Laura Mercier does make one of my favorite Tinted Moisturizers of all time. However, Bobbi Brown comes in a very close second.

Lovely stuff. Check it out your next trip to a Bobbi Brown counter.

P.S. These run SUPER dark so do swatch and play on counter for the best shade selection versus buying online.

What’s your fav TM?

Does Bobbi’s make the cut?

Muse, do you really skip moisturizer when you put TM ? I feel weird not putting my cream before makeup ! Also, if my skin is combo-oily, and I don’t need much coverage (I’ve always only used pressed powder), should I stay with my powder or switch to TM ?

in the summer yes occasionally. I use a hydrating mist and eye cream. it depends how my skin is behaving though. It’s entirely up to you Tracy. You know what works best as a base for your skin. If you’re happy with powder, just keep on with it ;D

I haven’t used a lot of tinted moisturizer, as they all tend to run pretty dark. I’m generally a couple shades from the lightest on foundation scales, but I did a lot of swatching in Ulta the last time I was hunting for TM. I walked away with Smashbox’s in the lightest color (Fair). It’s pretty good–I’d like one a little dewier, because that’s kind of what I want personally if I’m reaching for a TM, but oh well.

The weather in the Chicago area has been insane. I went on vacation a couple of weeks ago to Tennessee, expecting a little bit of a warm break…there was one day it was in the 40s there and in the 60s back home. It hit NINETY today. I felt like such an idiot arriving back home last week, lugging my winter coat in the airport. (Well, I strapped it to my suitcase, but still…)

I love this stuff. I’ve been wearing it all winter. I switched from LM because this has true broad spectrum SPF (LM doesn’t) and I hate layering too many products. I love how this stuff wears and only needed to spot moisturize before using this during the driest of winter. I picked up a sample of the new NARS for possible summer wear since it has SPF 30.

I love this TM! Bobbi did an amazing job. Laura and Bobbi’s lightest shades BOTH did an amazing job for my hard to match color: super fair but with very heavy olive undertones. I’ve gotta say while they weren’t too different to me personally in terms of texture and blending, I love LM’s more because of the beautiful dewy and glowy look it gives me!
