MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Cleanser Review

MAC Lightful Marine Bright Formula Cleanser is a brand new foaming cleanser from MAC to cleanse and brighten skin.

I’ve no idea what Marine-Bright Complex is but its supposedly in the mix here, shrug, I suspect it’s some sort of seaweed, ocean’s of the world concoction that MAC came up with. Sorry, I’m being miss grumpy pants, I’m just tired of skincare that seems incredibly tech-y when it isn’t.

This is a water base foaming cleanser that starts out life as a thick, rich cream. If you’re familiar at all with Asian collagen washes, this is basically the same texture of one.

MAC claims it brightens as well as hydrates and cleanses however it is a one trick pony in my opinion. I’m half way through a tube that I used in conjunction with my Clarisonic every single morning and aside from getting my face brilliantly clean, it doesn’t really do much else. Of course, results will be vary.

It has a clean, perfume-y fragrance. It’s pleasant enough, not something my nose adores, however it does deserved to be mentioned as if you’re sensitive to fragrance in your skincare you might want to have a little sniff test prior to indulging.

Personally the lure of the cleanser for me or anyone really with duller skin is the promise of brighter skin. Sadly, I didn’t really experience much in the ways of brightening here and dare I say it is a tad drying after use so a little moisturizer goes a long way at re-balancing your skin and keeping it smooth and flake-free.

The end result?

Nice, clean skin but that’s it.

I personally didn’t think this did much else outside of lathering up nicely, removing dirt, oil, and makeup.

Did you try it?

What did you think?

Available now at MAC counters.

thank you for this review!! the mac person that was working there was telling me I should get the skin care line which is a total of $150 and I was persuaded but this review is definitely going to save me money! I guess I’ll stick to my clinque face wash. just wondering what do you think of that in comparison? thanks so much for your time and review!

As a fellow mac artist…..you have to use the entire lightful system in conjunction, they support each other to get better results, one item won’t do the trick, you have to use the entire system…..happy new year
