Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzing Powder Review & Swatches

I had no idea how popular Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder was until everyone started hounding for the deets about the new, lighter shade available.

Wow, this has quite a cult following and after trying it out I’m understanding why everyone is excited about a lighter shade.

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzing Powder is for the fair faced ladies (and men) out there. The original Chocolate Soleil was pretty deep but Milk Chocolate is a super light shade of cocoa that proves very, very easy to use.

I know I mentioned it so many times but I’m not a regular user of bronzing powders however I can probably easily get on board with this as it offers just the right sunny glow without looking muddy, orange, or overly tanned. It’s more of a fresh, healthy glow versus a muddy, orange-y one.

The compact is scented with a decadent chocolate smell which would typically not appeal to me, I don’t love the smell of chocolate, but for some odd reason it proves very appealing. If you’re a bit sensitive to scented facial powders just have a little sniff test when you hit up Sephora prior to indulging. I think you’ll like it.

This is a matte formula with a silky fine texture that blends flawlessly. It’s virtually foolproof, and people, I’m a fool when it comes to bronzing powders and highlighters. If I can apply it correctly, anyone can. I’m wearing Estee Lauder’s Mad Men Creme Rouge today and I applied a very light dusting of this on top of the blush and my face was literally glowing gorgeously back at me. It just gives such a healthy, freshness to skin. I’m impressed as I expected a gross tanned look but the finish is just fresh and healthy!

For the fans of Chocolate Soleil you’ll absolutely adore the lighter shade. For those scared of bronzers, I promise, it won’t bite, it applies easily and is virtually mistake proof! And finally for the lighter skin ladies and lads here’s an easy way to get a subtle golden glow that builds easy for less or more of a tan.

Perfection.

Dare I place a Muse Approval on a bronzer?

Yes, I do dare.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. do you own the nyc sunny bronzer if so is this color around the same shade?

  • Sara elisabeth

I am deeply afraid of bronzer, as I always feel like it makes my face look dirty. I’m going to give this one a try! You make it sound so lovely!

    • the Muse

sara I feel the SAME way. I always look like I played in mud but there are a few bronzers out there worth checking out ;-D this one happens to be a foolproof one ;D!

  • Colleen

HI Muse. Unfortunately I’m nowhere near a sephora so no sniff test:( Does the smell dissipate or does it linger all day? For instance, I loved Georgia from benefit but the smell never went away after I put it on so I couldn’t wear it. Darn those fragrance allergies!

    • the Muse

colleen I am so the worst person to ask that haha. I’m never super bothered by fragrance in products. I want to say it goes away as I really don’t smell it once it is in place by my nose is terribly weak ;-D

    • Mary

I’m super-sensitive to scents, but as I understand it, the scent with this comes from its being made with real cocoa powder, not a chemical additive? So I’m hoping the scent won’t be a problem, because I really like the looks of it.

Just a question, how does this compare to Benefit Hoola bronzer? Thanks for the review!

    • the Muse

hoola is a lot muddier hanna. It’s also deeper and darker, this is quite light and subtle, it builds easily, but first swipe or two it’s very sheer and glow-y!

  • Jen

Do you know when this will be available in sephora? I’d prefer to buy it in store than order it online.

      • Tracy

I can’t wait ! This is by far the product I’m most excited about EVER ! (haha I’m a tad dramatic) and I need Sephora to get it like, now.

  • Daisy

I ordered one directly from the website and am excited for it to arrive. Unfortunately, I placed my order on Saturday morning and it has yet to ship. I hope my products won’t be as disappointing as their service.

  • Cj

Ooh sounds yummy lol! I actually saw this on the website when I was ordering the primer and thought it was a little lame but… thanks to your review now I really want it lol.

Ooh bromance. Your making me want to start watching the uk version again 😛

    • the Muse

hehe I create da lemmings ;-D It’s actually very nice…>! OH WATCH WATCH IT! it’s soooooooooo cute this season! Hal and tom=LOVE their relationship is the cutest sh*t every!

  • midori

I’m really intrigued by this! I usually use NAR’s Laguna, but sometimes when I’m busy I don’t blend enough and later in the day notice this strange streak on my cheek 0.o On sleepy mornings using this seems to be a better idea ; ) Do you have an idea when Sephora will stock this? Thanks, Muse.

    • the Muse

hi midori! mid april from my understanding, my pleasure hun!

  • lin

their is an expiry date right?..12m..is that means that u can only use it for 1 yr and u have to throw it away and what if you wanna use it cuz u dnt want to waste the bronzer even though it alrdy expired is that ok?

    • krankenheim

That depends on a few things. Does it smell bad? How sanitary were you with using it? Did you keep your fingers out of the product? Did you keep dirty brushes out of it? Do you clean your brushes after each use and deep cleanse them with soap and water at least once a week?

If you took care of your product and didn’t use dirty techniques there’s no reason why you can’t continue to use this product as long as it doesn’t smell bad! Obviously though, you’ll want to be more careful with using a clean technique and the product expiry date on cosmetics intended for use around the immediate eye area.

  • Ally

Oh man, this has to be the hardest choice…narrowing down my list for the VIB sale. I can’t decide between this and the Benefits Hoola!! Which would you recommend Muse?

  • Ashley

Hey Muse! If you’ve tried out the NYX matte bronzer, compared to this Too Faced one, which do you prefer?
