Eau de Apple The Smell of a Freshly Opened iPad Awaits You!

There are certain scents in life that you’d really like to bottle up and own for your very self.

For me, it’s the smell of a new book, freshly pumped gasoline, vintage old books, new chucks….I can think any of number of scents that just make me wish I can bottle them up.

The scent of new Apple equipment?

I can get on board with that.

Geeks are Sexy reports a company in Melbourne has bottled up the scent of a new MAC.

The Air-Aroma describes it as:

“A distinctive scent can be observed when unwrapping a newly purchased Apple product from its packaging. Apple fans will certainly recognize this smell. The scent created for Greatest Hits encompasses the smell of the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box and of course the aluminum laptop which has come straight from the factory where it was assembled in China.”

Road trip to Melbourne anyone?

I think I need a newly opened Apple product fragrance!

What sorts of scents do you wish you can bottle up?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I adore the smell of packaging as much as I adore the fragrance’s packaging. This sounds gorgeous, like it came right out of Gaiman’s American Gods.

love the smell of new chucks, too! the rubbery goodness that emerges from a freshly purchased pair. the smell of the comic & book shops, i think that it’s the paper. and old comics, the ones that were printed on newspaper. also, i don’t know if excitment has a smell but if they could bottle the feeling of getting an unexpected package in the mail, that’d be awesome.

I’ve seen a lot of people on other sites deride the idea as ridiculous, but I actually know exactly the smell they’re talking about, and although I wouldn’t really want to smell of it 24/7 I can totally see the appeal. /o\

It reminds me a little bit of those little Demeter fragrance bottles they used to sell at Sephora. (Do they still sell them? We don’t have Sephora in the UK, unfortunately, and I’ve not been to the States in years and years.) I think the idea is pretty rad, either way!

I love the smell of tack shops. It’s mostly the smell of new saddle leather, I think, and it sinks into everything in the store. Love it.
