NARS Pure Matte Lipstick Moscow Summer 2012 Review & Swatches
Here’s an unexpected must have for Summer, the new NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Moscow.
I thought for sure the matte finish would be too heavy for Summer and that the loud shade would be unwearable.
Proven wrong!
You NEED it.
NARS Pure Matte Lipstick has always had the most forgivable matte lipstick formula I’ve tried. The texture is smooth and velvety without looking cracked and dry on lips. It wears very comfortably, has a lightweight texture, incredible pigment, and a smooth, easily glide across lips.
I’ve reviewed it in past posts and have always been terribly pleased with the quality of the lipstick. I’m not a fond fan of a matte finish in most any product including shadows, foundation, blushes, etc…so when I do find a matte that works I’m every so delighted.
This formula doesn’t migrate on me (rare for a matte which typically has a tendency to take an adventure around my lip line and across my mouth and face) and is richly pigmented.
Of course, the real joy here is Moscow. In the tube it’s a bit frightening but on lips I was terribly surprised how wearable it turned out. It’s a fiery, burnt orange with a reddish twist that’s very fitting for the Summer Pantone trend. It’s an extremely warm shade that will work well on deeper, darker skin tones or sun goddesses who love a nicely tanned look with popping lips.
I happen to avoid the sun like the plague but it still manages to look lovely on my medium fair skin without looking gaudy or clown-like.
Overall, Moscow proved a very successful shade for me. I recommend checking it out as the color is intimidating but looks amazing once in place. Heck, I didn’t even apply gloss on top which is rare when it comes to a matte finish for me.
Loved this one and really felt it deserved a Muse Approval.
