Benefit Rare Beauty Snow White & the Huntsman Makeup Kit Review & Swatches

Fairest of them all? Get even fairer with the Benefit Rare Beauty Snow White & the Huntsman Makeup Kit that contains essentials for creating Snow White’s signature look.

I have a drawer (or maybe two) where I toss bags that come with makeup sets or I get as gifts with purchases. My collection is vast…!

I typically clear it out every few months and give them to my mum and she gifts them to her little senior friends that she volunteers with. They absolutely love when she brings in a bag of goodies. Off topic but one of them tried applying a gloss that was shaped like a nail polish onto her nails. She didn’t realize it was lipgloss and thought it was nail polish so she was asking my mom why it wasn’t drying…ha!

Moral of the story?

How many makeup bags does one girl need? But they are a necessary evil especially around the holidays when the best gift sets come packaging in some sort of bag.

I WON’T be parting with the Benefit Rare Beauty Traincase though! OMG! This is so pretty. It’s about the size of a large makeup bag and has a gorgeous lilac floral print with metallic silver embellishments. It’s going to be such a cute way for me to tote some essentials with me when I’m away on weekends in the Summer.

Outside of the traincase this set also includes basic essentials for creating a super natural look.

You get:

  • Benefit the POREfessional Primer (Full Size)
  • Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara (Full Size)
  • Benefint Lip and Cheek Stain (Small, Trial Size)
  • Benefit High Beam (Small Trial Size)

I admit I was disappointed that Snow White didn’t get her own eyeshadow palette or something super exciting like that but hey, we have to remember Snow White wasn’t exactly sporting a smoky eye look the last time I checked so it’s understandable that Benefit built her collection around items she’d probably use. Flawless skin? Check. Fluttery, innocent eyed lashes? Check. Rosy red pout and cheeks? Check. Beautiful glowing skin? Check!

Purchasing BADgal and POREfessional alone you’d be spending $48 so this is almost as if you’re getting the makeup bag for $3 and some cool samples to check out.

Sadly, many people probably already own both products so it might seem an indulgence to just buy it for the bag alone but facts is facts it’s a good deal overall…but I admit I was wishing for full sizes of High Beam and Benetint as that would have made it even MORE sweeter!

If you haven’t tried POREfessional yet or BADgal, here’s the perfect excuse to do so, how can you resist this cute little train case?

Everyone else…

Hopfully you run out of primer and mascara soon so you can indulge too!

It would have been nice if they’d have included some LE makeup in this kit too! Blah.

    • the Muse

true…but like what sort? I was kinda, “aw man I want something AWESOME for snow white..” but they are going with a “theme” here so what kinda of makeup would snow white wear ya know? outside of Benetint lol!

      • breyerchic04

A pearly white creaseless cream shadow would be stunning.

I love this bag, but the scent on the porefessional makes me sick so I will skip.

        • the Muse

mmm good one breyer! ;-D i didn’t notice a scent I need to go smell mine!

      • Pam

Like a true RED lip/cheek stain,and/or lipstick since the focus of Snow White’s makeup is her lovely RED lips.

Tarte has a red lip stain & gloss duo that is lovely. Even if you can’t (or think you can’t) wear red lipstick, anyone can wear it. I’m a fan of Benefit’s

    • the Muse

PS I WANTED a palette or a quad or something but snow white doesn’t exactly wear eyeshadow ha!

      • Tammie

She wouldn’t wear the other stuff either so any palette would have been just as good!

But what I had in mind was maybe an eye duo or something, just for a simple look in the “spirit” of Snow White. Just to tie the look together. Then you’d have a whole look and something special aside from the bag.

        • the Muse

mmm I thought Benetint was really snow white ;-D reddish lips and cheeks! I’d LOVE a duo! ;-D

          • Tammie

It is for sure :). I just mean she isn’t supposed to wear makeup, she is just naturally that lovely. So any makeup wouldn’t be like, what Snow White would use so they might as well throw in some eyeshadow or something xD.

          • the Muse

ah true ;-D but than there would be a set at all hehehe!

          • Pam

Though it’s a beautiful color, to me Benetint has too much of a berry tint to be a true red as is portrayed on Snow White.

    • shony

Ah… I get the theme, Such a bummer though. I already have Porefessional, Badgal Lash, and my highlighter in girl meets pearl. Benetint does nothing for me… I WISH I had some sort of excuse for this though.

  • Tammie

Haha, indeed 🙂 Maybe they should have just released the makeup bag xD

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

I, too, was hoping for something LE with this set–but I guess that’s not really Benefit’s style. I do think they did a good job of choosing the products though. I agree with you Muse, Benetint is SO Snow White. She wouldn’t cake up her *perfect* face with foundation, so the Porefessional works–as does everything else.

And that story with the old lady and the nail polish lip gloss?? Hilarious! Thank goodness it wasn’t a nail polish shaped like a lip gloss, huh? lol

  • meep

I think this is awesome for the snow white theme!

Would you say that this is a MUST HAVE for people who don’t own any of the items in the kit?? 🙂

  • Jayme

I agree with Tammie, this set seems a bit redundant, they put these items in all of their sets, the only unique thing about the set is the bag… but most makeup collectors (like you and me) have a ton of those any way.

  • peri

my best friend is a “gift with purchase” junkie. she cant resist them, but she doesnt ever use the makeup bags, so i, too, have a buttload of makeup bags, and i love every one of them lol…i find different uses for them. and while i would REALLY LOVE to have that bag, because its beautiful…it seems like all benefit does is repackage the same gift sets over and over again. all of their gift sets contain ALL of the same products, and that, to me, is boring and uncreative lol. just my opinion. im sure theres a lot of people out there that use these as staples in their makeup world…just doesnt excite me. i love that bag though.

  • Majick

LOVE the bag but have all the other stuff and I’m not impressed with it enough to re-purchase. Too bad…

  • Phyrra

I like the idea behind this kit but wouldn’t purchase it.

  • ribbonroses

I bought one! Just need to wait 7-21 business days for it to fly over the pond to me. I love porefessional so much, I think bad gal mascara deserves another chance once I’ve invested in a decent set of eyelash curlers…. and benetint and high beam are always awesome. I’m also seriously loving hello flawless oxygen wow – and I never thought I’d wear liquid foundation again!

  • kimberly

I think they could have done a palette of shadows and used some colors of the animals, birds, flowers, and even the colors of her and the dwarfs clothes. They could have done a red apple gloss or lipstick. The possibilities are endless as to what they could have done. This seems slapped together and lazy IMHO.

  • Julie

I bought this kit from sephora this weekend and I’m really loving it. I didn’t have any pieces in the kit so it was a worthwhile purchase for me!

  • Lisette

So totally getting this! I have been wanting to get the full sizes of both the mascara and primer. Its like they made this kit just for me haha!

  • ribbonroses

Yay it came, happy days! Bummer that customs held it to ransom and charged me import fees *sigh* it’s still v.v.lovely though, I’m totally in love with the little bag (and I’m keeping the makeup on standby for when I run out of my current tubes/bottles) x
