Disappointing Drugstore Makeup? OMG Brilliant Drugstore Makeup!

I think we can all agree drugstore makeup has evolved into something we can actually use and enjoy over the past few years. There was a time in my beauty life where I felt like if I walked into a drugstore the roof would come tumbling down on my head.

Let’s face it, drugstore makeup sucked a few years ago….!

As of late though, things have definitely gotten better and there are so many incredible deals to be had.

So what’s one of your most (only one) disappointing picks from the drugstore?

And what’s one of your OMG this is incredible, I can’t live without it picks from the drugstore?

Here are mine!

Maybelline Illegal Length Fiber Extensions Waterproof Mascara is the $hit. I love this stuff. I dislike the removal process but I adore the incredible lenght and doll-like finish it gives my lashes.

Truly it’s one of the best mascaras I’ve tried at the drugstore and that’s saying something as I feel like I’m consistently disappointed with crappy drugstore mascara picks.

Disappointing?

The Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick Collection.

How in the hell are you going to tempt us with this much variety but give us such a craptastic formula to go along with it? Not cool people, not cool at all.

Color Sensational has great pigment but it lays so unnaturally on top of lips. There is like zero moisture in these lipsticks. It’s sad because the collection is so incredibly vast with tons of colors to choose from. I can see myself hauling so many of these shades and heck, when new LE shades are introduced I still go after them, but the sin is in the formula. It’s just a really bad formula overall with the promise of greatness that’s snatched out from under me like a rug.

Le freaking sigh.

How about you?

Disappointment?

Awesome?

I can only pick one? OK, the new Milani eyeshadows (exclusive to CVS) are the best eyeshadows. I love them! The worst would probably be the classic Maybelline mascara in the pink and green packaging. I know it gets lots of love but I hate it and it has turned me off every other Maybelline mascara. Ugh.

    • the Muse

amen kim! that’s the most over hyped mascara…! ugh! awful stuff!

    • Jane

Gar! I get so frustrated that my CVS hasn’t gotten the Milani shadows yet, plus the woman who works there thnks I’m nuts when I try to explain what I’m looking for.

      • Liz

haha I totally know what you mean! I know cosmetics better than the women who work the counters. I go in asking when a certain product will come in stock, and they look at me like “that’s not a product”. And I’m like “oh honey it is”.

  • Littlecreek

Mine are both lip products. I’m lazy with lippies, I hate dealing with liner and I don’t layer glos over lipstick as I just can’t be bothered with more than one product at a time. That being said:

Best: Revlon Lip butters. I less than three them. Everything I want in a quick lip fix, color, moisture, easy application.

Worst: L’oreal Infallible Lip gloss. I hate the applicator and the gloss always seems to find it’s way onto my teeth no matter what precautions I take

FYI Muse dear – I like that you are doing more of these type of posts. Opens up more conversation among the readers.

    • the Muse

hey littlecreek agreed ;-D fun to hear everyone’s replies and get into a little chat about stuff ;D!

  • ladymoonlight

If drugstore make-up can be defined as low-priced make-up then Inglot matte eyeshadowsare the best pick ever!

      • meep

She was referring to the price point because of the ridiculous drugstore prices 😛
She’s saying that if the price of drugstore eyeshadows are considered drugstore than she’d rather chose inglot 🙂

          • ladymoonlight

Well, actually here in Poland it sort of is. I’ve had the opportunity to observe the brand for the past 20 years or more and it started off as cheap, low quality stuff sold in small local drugstores. The brand’s evolved a lot and I’m proud that Inglot is becoming a symbol of Polish produce instead of vodka. But I do realise that the image of the product in the US is different, however also in Poland they’re targetting a different market and opening their stores in luxury shopping malls.

          • the Muse

interesting ladymoonlight! although I swear I never thought vodka when I was thinking of Poland ;-D hehe!

    • Mahsa

I adore my Inglot Palette – I also have a lipgloss I can’t remember the name but it looks amazing in the packaging as it is totally holographic and quality wise none sticky and yum smelling 🙂 good for Poland 🙂 xx

  • meep

Brilliant: Maybelline 24 Hour Tattoo Eye shadows (except the purple one)!!

YUCK: I have to agree on the maybelline lipsticks. some rimmel lipsticks are also terrible -.-

    • the Muse

agreed, tried those 24 hour moisture lippies from rimmel or whatever they are called and they stink meep!

  • Ruth

I lothe maybelline stiletto liquid eyeliner. it’s supposed to stay put but actually gives me racoon eyes and the smell of it is chemical-y. it got pitched super quick.

I’m really liking rimmel eyeshadows. the color is vibrant and doesn’t come off chalky. I picked up some on your recommendation and have really been enjoying them.

    • the Muse

ruth, gotta say I like rimmel shadows too, not bad at all! ;-D <3 happy I led you to 'em!

  • midori

    Love posts like this!
My worst experience with drugstore makeup has been a lipstick from Maybelline Color Sensational as well. It was the driest formula I’ve ever tried in my limited experience with lipsticks!
On the other hand I love Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm and have tons of these in my purse, drawers, et cetra ; ) T’estimo’s mascara base was also my HG product but that has long been discontinued : (

  • Leighann

I try to look at reviews when I buy drugstore so I haven’t been too disappointed with much, but back when the Covergirl Smoky Shadow Sticks came out, I got one. What a mess! I remember applying them and going to the movies, and when I got out it was creased to high heaven and just…bad. I’m almost afraid to buy the Revlon ones even though they’ve gotten better reviews!
My favorite is the Physician’s Formula Eye Booster Liner Pen. It just works fantastically for me. I use it everyday!

    • Ruth

the physician’s formula liquid black metallic eyeliner is pretty awesome too. I’ve repurchased that several time; it stays put and doesn’t burn upon application.

  • Shamim

best…..I’m torn between revlon lip butters and maybelline 24 hr tattoos.
so pigmented, easy to use and great price point for both!

worst hmmm. this one is hard because I wouldn’t buy something I don’t like…..but I have a hard time liking the l’oreal infallible shadows.

  • Morgie

Long time lurker, first time commenter.

I also LOVE the Revlon Lip Butters!! I also like the Physician Formula shimmer strips – mainly because I scored 2 of them for less than $3 a piece awhile back when they were on clearance at Target (yet they restocked with the SAME THING the next week and were back up to the $10 pricepoint!). Also, I have to confess that I like the Garnier “BB” cream/Skin Renew. I know it isn’t a real BB cream, but it is a good tinted moisturizer for me.

Hate? Probably because I’m a weird ethnic skin tone (pasty but not pure white, with lots of stuff mixed in), but ANY drugstore foundation. HATE. I tried to get my shade right again with Cover Girl (what I wore as a broke teen), and it was a big FAIL. So, Clinique Superbalanced Powder for me on top of the Garnier.

  • Kate

It just goes to show that different products work differently for different body chemistries, etc.

I am going to declare that the l’oreal infallible shadows are my current drugstore favorite. I love the way they apply and look on me, and they last so well. Maybe this makes a difference: I always prime, no matter what eyeshadow I’m going to wear because my lids are a horrible “bruised” color on their own. Blech. One frickin’ day I realized that I have the same eyes (same color, same sparse, straight and short lashes, and now the same damn discolored lids!) as MY FATHER. Not cool, Mother nature, not cool.

I think that I will reiterate that the pink and green Maybelline mascara is the worst mascara in the world. I hate it!!!!!!

  • Lisa I.

    Great post! For me….
Best: Revlon Superlustrous lipgloss. These are my go to glosses and I am reminded how good they are when I try anything else. Love Coral Reef.
Worst: another vote for the Maybelline pink and green mascara. Absolute junk and has permanently turned me off Maybelline.

  • Amy Amethyst

Worst: the Maybelline Great Lash mascara. It’s always on the best of makeup lists and I DON”T UNDERSTAND!! It’s a horrible mascara that does nothing for your lashes. I’ve tried it a few times over the years to try to like it and see what all the fuss was about but I always hate it. I think people who like it must already have the most fantastic lashes already or either people who just don’t want a lot from a mascara.

Brilliant: Lately I’ve really been liking the Rimmel Glam’eyes mascara. It thickens and lengths my lashes enough to make me happy and works just as well as the $15 mascara I was using, if not better.

    • the Muse

amy hear ya girl! allure always names it the best mascara of the year or some such nonsense and it’s in every mag! WHO are these people that love it lol! ;-D is that the orange tube?!

      • Amy Amethyst

It’s black with pink writing. The brush is one of those rubber ones which I don’t always like but this one seems to be pretty good.

  • Quinctia

I don’t know if I’m really good with my choices, but I don’t have a whole lot of out and out fails from drugstore stuff, especially lately.

    Best:
I have a lot of products I use all of the time, but Physician’s Formula face powders are the best. I honestly have no desire to buy pressed powder from anyone else.

Maybelline XXL Extensions is my HG mascara…if I didn’t have that, I probably wouldn’t hardly ever wear mascara.

Oh, and when I need a concealer for blemishes, I still reach for Covergirl Fresh Complexion…but I really, really have my best results with liquid concealer.

    Worst:
Nyx’s potted shadow primer. I got the pearl one, even though UD PP works perfectly on me, getting a new shimmery base would be useful. It creased pretty badly.

And, if stuff I got through Bzz Agent counts, that (was it L’Oreal or Revlon?) One Sweep eyeshadow…thing. Now, unlike some, I got it to work…but I couldn’t get my eyes to match, ever. When I gave it to my sister (because I have too much eyeshadow as it is), I told her she might want to just use a brush in it, as it was okay for that. I can’t believe that they’re still making them, and they’re making new colors of them.

Also, I like Color Sensational lipsticks, and I thought Great Lash is an okay mascara formula…not exceptional, but not deserving of being called the worst mascara ever. There’s some Sephora formula I got in a sample that deserves that title…

  • jenna

    fun post!

most disappointing: Hard Candy baked eyeshadows (the half-sphere ones with two colours)

OMG this is incredible: i know we’re only supposed to pick one but i have an honest-to-goodness tie between two mascaras ’cause i use them together to create magic and they’re both equally important! they are L’Oreal telescopic and Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama

  • Allison

Hmm… Loathe Maybelline 24-hour eyeshadows. You CANNOT blend them with other eyeshadows. If you just want to wear one eyeshadow all day then I suppose they work but I never tried. Also, I loathe all drugstore foundations. I have very pink undertones and there is just no such thing as a pink person in the drugstore realm.

Love Wet ‘n Wild Color Icon eyeshadows so much! I have all of them except I Dream of Greenie because I can’t pull that s*** off! And I love Revlon lip products, they pretty much can’t do wrong in that department.

    • Amy Amethyst

With the Maybelline 24 shadows are you using them under other shadows or on top? I’ve worn them as a base color and then used a powder eyeshadow in my crease and it’s blended fine. I wear an eye primer before the Maybelline shadows too so I don’t know if that has something to do with it also. May if they don’t work for you, you could use them as an eyeliner if you couldn’t return them. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

      • Allison

I used the bronze and the gold one over primer. I put the gold one on the lid and the bronze one in my crease and it made a muddy mess. I washed it off immediately. I already returned them.

        • Emma Davis

The maybelline colour tattoo eye shadows are meant to be worn as a base under powder eyeshadow. To my knowledge you are not supposed to wear more than one at a time. But I agree wholeheartedly about finding my shade in drug store foundations, I too am a pink person.Whenever I use drugstore foundation it is apparent I am wearing foundation. Very frustrating for someone with redness eh?

          • Lisa

Emma, the full name of the Color Tattoo’s is 24HR Cream Gel Shadow (not eyeshadow base). They are in fact intended to be used as a cream shadow but will also work as a base. There is also nothing stating that you cannot use more than one at a time. They may not work that well for some people, but just like everything else… ymmv. 😉

    • meep

that’s crazy! every drugstore foundation has been TOO pink for me!!! Have you tried revlon?

      • Allison

I tried revlon colorstay and it was too white for me. same with covergirl clean makeup. and neutrogena skin clearing. Everything else was too yellow, maybelline dream liquid, maybelline ummm the one with the numbers, l’oreal true match… damn I’m realizing that I’ve tried too many drugstore foundations!

  • Libby

Oh yay! I love posts like these 🙂 Thanks for posting, Muse!

I kind of wish we could post about Asian drugstore items because I do feel like they’re so amazing but the US market has lots of amazing things as well.

For best…I think I’ll stick with either Milani’s Liquif’eye Metallic Eyeliner pencils or the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner. I love them both equally and since I tend to do my eyes the most since i wear glasses, they’re must-haves for me.

As for the most disappointing one, hm. I feel like I bought a lot and can’t remember but at the same time, I can’t remember when something I bought really disappointed me since I usually check for reviews first! I suppose, and not sure if they count, but E.L.F’s tinted moisturizer only because it broke me out pretty badly 🙁

    • the Muse

my pleasure libs so glad you enjoy these posts! hey, go ahead, I’d love to hear your asian drugstore picks ;-D!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine: Lavshuca Blush UGHHHHHH so chalky!

allie spf ;-D is thee best buy ever!

  • Ljana

Best: Essence gel eyeliners. Those cost about 2 euros and are no different than all the high-end ones.

Worst: those Maybelline Color Pop sticks or whatever they’re called. No hydration, no color, I’ve no idea what they’re actually supposed to do. And they’re expensive here – for a few more euros, you can get a decent lipstick from Artdeco or L’Oreal that will…you know, actually color your lips. /rant over 🙂

    • the Muse

lljana AGREED! I wanted to love those but they are crap! ;(

  • Dawn

Best: Maybelline One by One Waterproof Mascara. In fact, I’ve loved all Maybelline mascaras except Great Lash. My all time best was Lash Expansion but it’s discontinued.

Worst: NYC pressed powder. Iit was only $2 so I wasn’t expecting much.

  • TLE

My favorite are Rimmel eyeshadows and Quo eyebrow gel. It’s one of the few gels that is just for eyebrows (not also a mascara) and works awesome….just like the Anastasia one.

My worst has to be anything from Physicians Formula. I really wanted to like their stuff, but my face hated it. And to stick in a nail poish, those supposed long wearing Revlon ones are awful. I’ve tried them with bases and top coats and the longest they’ve gone without chipping/peeling/cracking was 2 days.

  • Lulubelle

Best: Maybelline’s Color Tattoo cream shadows and/or Revlon’s Colorburst lip butters.

Worst: NYX’s cream eyeshadow in Olive Branch. I so wanted that color to work but it just would not. Patchiness galore.

  • Suzanne

    Best Drugstore:
The Revlon BittenStain Pencil balms in Honey. Its a rocking nude thats is close to my fave chanel natural pencil but glossy finish. Totally impressed with it.

    Worst Drugstore:
NYC eye pencils just drag and are hard to work with.

  • Winni

Best: wet n wild color icon eyeshadows.

Worst: mmmm….Haven’t bought these in a while; but those Revlon Illuminance cream eyeshadows. Crease on my oily lids in like 2 seconds. And I used to love them….that was before I discovered Sephora.

    Love these posts!

  • Grace

    Hmmm I guess I’ll jst pick a couple… 😉
the good: Maybelline baby lips in pink punch, Maybelline define-a-brow, Covergirl Lashblast Fusion (purple tube), Joe Fresh cream blush, Vichy Aera Teint cream foundation (is Vichy considered drugstore?), Maybelline dream matte

the bad: L’oreal false fiber mascara (smudged like hell within 5 minutes of application), Quo lash curler, L’oreal colour juice sheer juicy lip gloss (smells like a combination of plastic rubber and gasoline), Prestige waterproof automatic eyeliner (waterproof my ass), Physicians Formula mosaic powder (chalky), Annabelle pencil eyeliner (smudges. a lot.), Maybelline great lash (the magazines! they lie!)

  • Mallory

I’m happy with a lot of drugstore products; my makeup is a pretty good mix of drugstore, department store, and sephora goodies!

    Drugstore loves:

Wet n’ Wild waterproof liquid liner. This is a pain to remove, but if I’m going to have a day at the pool or waterpark, I don’t have to worry about smudging.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in translucent.

NYC Brow Powder and Setting Wax kit.

    Coty Airspun Powder

    Drugstore loathes:

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks. These smell like old playdough to me!

Rimmel lipsticks. The smell and taste of these is also very offensive to me.

Wet n’ Wild Eye and Brow Pencils

  • Nat

    YAY this is fun!

    Best:
Maybelline Bouncy Blush! Pretty colours and are easy to apply.

    Worst:
Revlon Illuminance cream shadow – SUCKS. Looks so pretty in the pan, but there is barely any colour when you apply it, and it creases no matter what you do.

  • Mahsa

I’m going to do a UK one because – well that’s where I live most of the year – my fave is 17 black liquid liner – it is stunning very good price and even better quality

Worst is Bourjois mascaras – i used to use a lot of Bourjois products but now I just don’t like the quality of anything but if I had to pick one defiantly the mascaras

    Xx M xX

  • Susan

Worst – those Cover Girl primer shadows that applied with a wand that came out about a year ago. Awful!

Best – Revlon lip butters and Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balmstain. Love both. Had avoided a lot of drugstore make-up, but these give me hope 🙂

  • Comrade Garlic

The women I know who like Great Lash have never tried anything else. They tend to be the ones that wear minimal makeup because they have to, or feel they have to. There are also the ones that refuse to try anything new.Great Lash is the first and last mascara they will ever use.

      • Gabrielle Festa

Ugh that’s so true! My mom doesn’t wear a lot of makeup mostly just mascara and concealer and I’ve tried to introduce her to other mascaras other than great lash. She bought a Dior one and HATED it and she insists that great lash is better than anything else just because it’s won all sorts of awards.

  • Sheepy

My favorite drugstore product is definitely Wet n Wild eyeshadows. The ones in the trios, anyway (I haven’t tried the rest) they’re so soft and pigmented. I honestly didn’t know what “buttery” meant until I found them. Seriously.

The worst…probably this max factor foundation I had years ago. It was a cream to powder formula and settled in my dry patch is a really ugly way and made my pores look huge.

  • queenfrostine

Mascara from the drugstores has always been pretty solid IMO, not just recently, but up until a few years ago I wouldn’t touch any other type of eye makeup from the drugstore save Milani’s old singles. It was a really big deal in my book when budget brands started making eye shadows and eye liners worth giving a crap about. I’m loving L’Oreal’s Infallible Eyeshadows.

As for drug store disappointments, this isn’t for a single product but I’m always sort of bummed by the lack of variety for blushes at the drugstore. With the exception of Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush (which is a baffling product), no line seems to carry more than 3-5 shades of blush for any given cheek product. And it always seems to be the same 5 shades.

  • Jennifer

Best: Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks. Comfortable to wear and extremely long lasting. I have one in Burn and think it’s a beautiful red, very classy and little black dress worthy.

Worst: Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer. Awful pigmentation, dry texture, and too much glitter. I’m between NC25-30 and even the darkest shade wouldn’t show up.

  • rain12blue

For me my best drugstore products would be from each brand:

    Revlon
Best: Colorstay foundation for oily/combo skin (Sand Beige), Color lipbutters (esp Sweet Tart), Colorstay liquid liner and pencil liner, Photoready powder, all their nail polishes, lipsticks
Worst: Photoready foundations (all of them!), eyeshadows (all their formulas seem to be lacking in pigmentation and blendability)

    Maybelline
Best: Gel liner (black and brown), Mascaras (esp Illegal length), Dream matte powder, nail polishes
Worst: eyeshadows (lacks pigmentation and blendability), lipsticks and lipglosses

  • Susan K

Best: WnW e/s, all of the them, they never disappointment me, Brulee is HG highlighter; PF gel e/l are great

Worst: Been so many over the years, but recently I’d have to have say Milani baked e/s, tried many different application mehtods and couldn’t get it to show up at all

  • Mary the Muse Militant

My worst have to be Maybelline Great Lash mascara and Garnier BB cream.
My best is L’oreal Caresse lipsticks and Sleek palettes.

  • Majick

    BEST: Revlon Lip Butters
Worst: Mabelline Great Lash (pink/green tube), or any of the covergirl age defying concealers & foundations (can someone tell me what color people they are supposed to work for? LOL)

Well, I almost followed the rules today. LOL 😀

  • sRa

    BEST:
maybelline baby lips in peach kiss = soft, pretty, yummy!
covergirl lip perfection in divine and fairytale = stays, fades nice, color!
revlon super lustrous lipstick in kiss me coral = vintagey, great color!
sally hansen instadri in mint sprint = pretty, quick, great brush
loreal extra intense eyeliner in carbon black = blackest ever

    WORST:
covergirl smokey shadow blast in the B&W = bon bon glitter pots bleh
maybelline great lash = raccoon eyes
sally hansen instadri in rapid red = stained nails

I agree that drugstore blushes are weak sauce.

  • Jen

    Ugh! Decisions, decisions.

Well, since a few of my bests and worsts have been repeated here and there, I’ll add some new dish 😀

Best: Maybeline’s new Mega Plush Volum’ Express gel-mousse mascara. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Still love my Full n’ Soft too though. And I actually like the L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows. My face is an oil slick from april-october, and I was surprised at how well Pink Sapphire stayed on after working a ten hour shift. I know a lot of people have noted patchiness and picking up too much product. Well, I think I might have a tip– after thoroughly washing and drying my hands, I quickly tap the surface of the shadow ONCE with each index finger, that way I’m not picking up too much product, and the application is smoother that way.

Worst: Revlon lipsticks of both the green and black tube variety. They drag, they dry, and make my mouth taste like soap no matter how many mints or pieces of gum I go through to get rid of it. L’Oreal Colour Riche lipsticks also all have the same horrible taste, and even make my lips tingle uncomfortably. Lastly, Almay eyeshadows, of any variety. They’re always hard, difficult to apply, and just do not blend well.

  • Grazi

Here in Brazil, in my humble opinion:

worst: nude pencil Vult is hard and slightly pigmented.

best: the pencil Payot, is soft glides with ease, it is very black.

  • Marina

    Best:
Consistent winners for me have been Wet n Wild’s shadows, Maybelline’s The Falsies, Maybelline’s Color Tattoos, Revlon’s Lip Butters, and CoverGirl’s Lip Perfection lipsticks.
Worst: NYC eyeliners and Rimmel lipsticks!

  • Audri

Best~ loreals color riche lip balms are SUPER creamy, not as pigmented as revelon lip butters but i feel like im stuck between the two so i like both!
wet & wild lipsticks are AMAZING! their cheap long lasting and beautiful color range!

Worst~ any drugstore eyeshadow really. i just can’t deal with the lack of color pay off and how some are just so darn chalky! now bear with me i still have yet to try the infamous wet and wild shadows or the milani ones so im hoping ill be able to get those soon! but other than that i just don’t even bother looking for shadows at the drugstore.
E.L.F eyelid primer is HORRIBLE. its watery, and it doesn’t even last an hour on me! i hated it! 🙁

    • raeda

I just wanted to let you know that I purchased all three palettes from Wet n Wild, the ones with 8 colors. Each column is a palette itself, with a highlighter, lid, crease, and outer v color. I love that about it. It was super cheap at Walmart for like under five dollars canadian, which is rare for us to get suck awesome deals. I would recommend this product but I need to caution you: First, you really do need a primer for this product. Second, you will find that the shadow texture is very nice not dry, but when you take from it a lot of powder forms like sand. So basically, don’t stand the palette up, always keep it set down and part of that is because you don’t feel that when you close it, it is closed tightly.

So basically what I am trying to say is, if you want to avoid a mess, keep the palettes sitting down flat, don’t store them standing up and wear primer for sure before use or it will fall off.

Longevity with this eyeshadow is amazing only with primer. With primer, no joke, it has lasted me more than 24 as if I just put it on (fell asleep with makeup on and woke up and it was still vibrant!). I use UDPP. Without primer, it wipes off so easily. Considering how cheap this eyeshadow is, buying primer just for it is totally worth it.

  • Chelsea

Best: Without a doubt, and they are my most recent purchase: The new Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip stain crayons. They are AMAZING. Pigmentation, formula, moisture–perfection.

Worst: Basically all drugstore foundations that I have ever tried. Ever. Maybe I just have difficult skin to suit or something, but they all apply very cakey and unnatural. BB cream changed my life! I LOVE my Skin79 Gold BB Cream. And it cost less than a lot of drugstore foundations!

    • raeda

No hun, it is not your skin. Once you have gone high end with foundation THERE IS NO TURNING BACK.

  • Emily

My favorite drugstore product is probablt the Milani Baked Blushes. Pretty colors, high pigmentation and silky texture are hard to beat.

The worst one I’ve tried is the Revlon Colorstay 12 Hour eyeshadow quads. Chalky texture when swatched with finger, barely came off onto my brush and *barely* showed up on my eyelid even when I used my best primer -what was there came off in less than an hour. “Colorstay”?!- it certainly does not! So sad, especially since the colors were beautiful in the pan. *sniffle*

  • Sharon

Best: ZA Skin Beauty 2 Way Foundation – the best face powder ever! I apply it with a brush and it totally disappears into my skin – as in it doesn’t look like i’m wearing any foundation at all. I have some light wrinkles under my eye and I use the sponge that comes with it and dab it. It doesn’t crease at all! I have oily t-zone and i live in a tropical country so, foundation kinda ‘floats’ on my skin at the end of the day but when I was travelling (to a colder & dryer country), make stays on forever!!!!

Worst: Don’t really have one yet, so far i’m loving every one of my drusgtore makeup!! 😀

It’s so interesting to me how different products work for different people. The Maybelline CS lipsticks are hands down my favorite ds lipsticks ever. I even use them in my bridal kit. I love them.

I forgot to add my worst. The Maybelline l/s are my favorite. My worst are probable the Fit Me blushes and Revlon Photoready foundation.

eh, totally agree with all the maybelline lipsticks sucking. I have very dry lips, and I need something thats very moisturizing.. and their formula wasn’t it for me. I envy those who can wear almost anything and still look amazing T_T

Both are mascaras, actually! Mascara is my favorite product forever, so I’m always trying out new drugstore ones for fun.

Worst: Revlon DoubleTwist Mascara. UGH I can’t describe how happy I was to throw it out. It looked like it might be interesting, so I bought a tube. The wand came out COMPLETELY glooped in mascara. Kind of like I stuck a Q-tip into the bottle. Bought another one because I thought it might be a fluke, same thing. Made my lashes so clumpy and nasty.

Best: Maybelline Full n’ Soft Waterproof Mascara in Very Black. I LOVE this mascara, in the summer it’s the only mascara I’ll wear. It’s not very dramatic, but that’s fine because for me it’s actually waterproof. I haven’t found another drugstore mascara that stays on even when I go swimming all day. I just curl my lashes and put two coats on, and it stays on until I use waterproof makeup remover AND wash my face in the shower.

Absolute fav of 12 years is L’oreal liquid liner (the gold one)
Absolute disappointment= Maybeline Fit Me Blush. After avoiding all drugstore makeup for years, with exception of my L’oreal liquid liner, a few months ago I decided to try Maybeline’s new line of blushes as everyone was saying how evolved drugsore makeup had become. NOT. This blush was not pigmented, not applicable, Dry, Horrible, just a complete waste of money.

No longer in drugstores in my country (why oh why!?), L’Oreal Beauty Tubes mascara. That mascara was perfection.

Speaking of tube mascara in my country, P2 once tried to make a tube mascara. They failed.
