CK One Water Fresh Face Makeup Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

The recently launched CK One Makeup Collection is proving disappointing for me thus far. How are you feeling about it? I was curious about their Water Fresh Face Makeup. As a dry skin type putting water and fresh in the name of a product instantly gets me excites me.

CK One’s CK One Water Fresh Face Makeup is a creamy foundation product that quite reminds me of Urban Decay’s Surreal Skin Cream to Powder in not only formula but packaging as well.

Let’s take a look!

I’m still on the verge of having a love/hate relationship with CK One’s packaging. It’s rather modern chic but I’m such a h0r for pretty makeup packaging that it proves a little too plain and ordinary for me. The contrasting white and black compact is a chunky affair that contains a mirror and a flip top enclosure for the cream makeup so it’ll remain fresh. A sponge applicator which sits on the flip top allows for easy application on the go.

I honestly can’t find fault with the formula at first swatch. It’s creamy, very hydrating, and has a cool, refreshing feel to the touch. I just don’t like the way it sits on my skin though sadly. This offers medium to full coverage however I feel like its too heavy for my face and notice it sits unnaturally resulting in a “I have lots of makeup on” look. The smooth, creamy feel upon first swatch has an odd greasy, oily feel on skin. For some reason, the product doesn’t covert well onto my skin and ends up feeling unusually greasy.

It does offer excellent coverage so if you’re already used to using a creamy formula compact like this you might like it. I’m not a particularly a fan of foundations like this as they don’t completely dry down (this doesn’t have a cream to powder finish) and I feel like I have way too much product on.

Swatched: 300 Sand (This was sadly too dark for my skin tone)

Overall, CK One Water Fresh Face Makeup feels like a great product but don’t let that first swatch fool you in store because after application the product gets heavier, oilier, and just ends up feeling wrong. I didn’t like this one sadly!

P.S. It fades super fast and ended up all over the collar of my shirt.

Anyone try it?

Did you apply it with a sponge or brush? I’m just curious as to whether a brush might help sheer it out a little bit. I’ve never been a big fan of cream foundations. I totally get the oily/heavy/pore clogging thing.

both court! I tried with sponge and that’s overkill but a brush it feels still a little too dewy to the touch!

I so want to love something from this collection. I had high hopes for this one. They had quite a few great products in past incarnations of this line. Feeling the love or at least like for anything yet Muse?

sorta kinda like but not really?! seems over priced for the formula so far susan :-/

Thanks for all the ck one reviews/swatches. I was excited about the line when I first heard about it but unfortunately no stores near me sell it. I hate to buy cosmetics without trying first. I now think I can skip ck one cosmetics and spend my money on other brands I like.

my pleasure kim…so far, I’m NOT all that impressed so I think it is wise you’re saving your $$ for something else!

Wow I seriously forgot all about this! And from your review I’m glad I did lol! I’ve been loving the Vincent longo cream foundation, have you tried that?

      • Cj

Hells yeah! It’s like jello lol and it surprisingly holds up pretty well in the heat! Not as good as the hourglass immaculate but I can wear it for a couple hours and not feel like my face is melting off lol

It’s a little sheer but I like it! quite nice…! and doesn’t oxidize either ;-D!

ppsssssssssssst gang.. I have seen a few goodies from this line at Big Lots.

YES! YES! YES! I was just about to comment on that! Some “arctic” color and a color called “Pink Slip” is what I found. They were going for $5 each. Neither were my color so I skipped. Hope someone here can find some treasures!

After working 4 years for MAC and becoming accustomed to oily makeup and high definition coverage, I’m glad to say I finally found a brand that works great with my combination skin complexion! I am obsessed! I love the 3-1 face makeup, the pressed powder gives me just enough coverage for all day, and the 3-1 can be used with or without any powder. It’s a serum and moisturizer with foundation also SPF, so pratically it’s a 4-1. Eyeshadows are great, good enough pigment but can also be mixed with water to add intensity. I love the eyeliner. It glides right on! No smudges! Now for the concealer, it is a mousse so you barely feel it once its applied, I will never switch, it covers everything! Now lipsticks and lipglosses are also lovely! Great color and great stay. I highly reccomend this brand to whomever is looking for great coverage with great colors, be sure to check out their blushes as well, and the skin illuminators.. I guess you can say I finally found a brand I love!

I bought this and I’m very disappointed I’m returning because it just is awful. By the end of the day you can tell plain as day I’m wearing makeup and makes my skin (I have combination skin)look DRY. In the oily spots! Not worth the $32 dollars. The pressed powder was great however.

Apparently you are applying it incorrectly. This foundation is absolutely amazing for the right kind of skin. You have to know how to choose the right formulation for your skin. The CK One 3-1 foundation is amazing for most skin types. The water fresh is for someone who wants heavy coverage with normal to dry skin. I recommend using a non-silicone primer with it and applying it with a brush. The problem most people have with using the sponge that comes with it is that they put too much product on the sponge and don’t blend it out well. Put a little product on a foundation brush and blend, blend, blend. It actually firms your face as well. The whole CK one line is probably one of the best overall makeup lines there is. The makeup is truly wonderful and most people love it.
