Soap & Glory Love at First Blush Review & Swatches

I wanna say it really was Love at First Blush when it comes to Soap & Glory’s new Multi-Shade Shimmer Powder and Blush. But ado, it didn’t work for me. And what a terrible shame because it’s really quite pretty.

I’ve been reviewing Soap & Glory’s Cosmetics the last few days because I was kinda hopeful that they might pop up this Summer at Sephora finally. It’s been a few months since the original launch in the UK so I do wonder if at some point we’ll finally see them here. I’m dying to try the lipsticks but not quite ready to commit without seeing them in person.

Let’s take a peek at Soap & Glory Love at First Blush and see if you like it more than I did.

This comes in a sturdy round cardboard compact but I was disappointed as the packaging is like the Soap & Glory Solar Powder Bronzer but they didn’t include a brush! Awww…! Damn! I like the stealthy way Soap & Glory tucked in the cool brush included with Solar Powder and think it’s a shame they didn’t do the same with Love at First Blush.

The good news is it has that cute vintage feel and just the overall presentation is really pleasant and pleasing to the eye.

Honestly, it really is love at first sight with this blush. This is a shimmer wheel presentation with five different “wedges” of color that surround and make up the powder. The shades range from light pink, dusky pink, rose and finally a creamy light white.

The powder is a little heavier but blends easily onto cheeks without an issues. My main problem is it tries to act as a highlighter (the white shade) and a blush. This presents a problem for me with the finish as it goes terribly frosty and shimmery on my cheeks. The white seems to dominate the pretty shades of pink and rose and morphs them into illuminating, sheerer highlighting powder colors. Le sigh! It’s a ton of frosty, shimmery goodness here without a lot of color. It’s a funny thing because it looks so pretty swatched, I just wish I can get that shade on my cheeks!

Needless to say if you rock it hard when it comes to highlighter applicator you’ll easily be able to use this. However, I personally stink at it and brushing this on the apples of my cheeks ends up in all kinds of unflattering looks.

Overall, Soap & Glory Love at First Blush is a little deceiving as it’s marketed as a blush but acts more as a highlighter. In its defense the box does say “multi-shade shimmer powder”….Personally, I think it might have proved nicer if they left the white shade out as you’d see the pretty dusky pinks and roses come through on skin a hell of a lot better. If that was the case I’d have ended up with healthy flushed pink cheeks instead of a messy frosty look.

Sadly, I give this a thumbs down.

I had a friend pick this up for me at Boots UK. However, many of the products are on Evil-bay just be careful when shopping it.

I purchased this item.

I bought this a while back off evil bay and like you I don’t love it. The color is a little off on me and now that I’m tan (111 degrees here yesterday) it doesn’t show up except for a little frosty-ness. I like the packaging and the formula but I don’t love the color. However, speaking of blushes, I got a $15 mini set at Sephora with Tarte doll face and a bronzer. These two layered carefully – I think gives the look that I was hoping for from the Soap & Glory one. Sorry for being so wordy – like the new format btw! oh and ps. I’ve had a couple bad evil-bay experiences this year with bad makeup or fakies so I’ve been sticking to the same few sellers I trust, a couple -that you recommended.

I bought both pink and peach and love them also had to get their pink highliter (forget what is called while on sale st Target. Really like them! I’m very cool toned so the slightest bit applied goes a long way. Soap & Glory makes pretty good products I’ll be checking the moisturizers also. Love the packaging so cute! Oh! And recently got the lipglosses also at Rarget they tingle a bit and smell like delicious coffee. While ordering from Walgreens received red & peach lipglosses (more like a Chapstick form) awesome. Ok. In ❤️with the brand! 🙂
