MAC Heavenly Creature Lipstick Review & Swatches

I purchased two lippies from the MAC Heavenly Creatures launch in Venus and PleasureSeeker but seriously have to get to a counter to check out the rest as I feel like I might have missed some uber awesome shade.

Anything I NEED from this launch?

Which shades did you grab?

I was a little disappointed with these…

Take a look!

Meh!

At a glance both Venus and PleasureSeeker look like light, easy to wear shades that would enhance the shade of my own lips without over doing things.

That’s exactly the kind of lippie we all crave for Summer right?

Venus is a perfect pair up with Cremesheen in Galaxy Rose from this launch as well but on its own it falls a little flat. This is a pretty shade of rosy pink or as MAC dubs it a sheer yellow pink with pearl. The formula is the main issue here as it’s a MAC Lustre which I commonly associate as mix of cream lipstick with a bit of shine.

The shade is a gorgeous MLBB (my lips but better) color but it falls a little flat on my skin tone and goes a little too mod. I also felt the formula, as with all Lustre finishes, was patchy, uneven, and terribly dry. The color is sheerer here with a hint of shine.

PleasureSeeker was a poor choice as well for me. This is a mod shade of creamy peach in a Glaze finish. Again, Glaze has a hint of shine like Lustre but for the most part very creamy. With that being said, of course, the cream goes on a bit patchy and uneven. Gloss helps things along with both of these shades but the formula just feels terribly dry without it and has a drier application as well.

Venus and PleasureSeeker

It deserves mentioning that these are not travel friendly. They melt super easily. Don’t swivel them up to high during application as both shades broke on me and I ended up having to freeze and reset them. Ugh! Annoying.

Overall, seems like the MAC Heavenly Creature Lipsticks and I aren’t a match made in heaven. I will explore the other shades just in case I missed something important but if these are anything to go by I’m going to say I probably didn’t.

Venus is on the way to my house today. I hope I like it better than you did. I also hope it doesn’t melt sitting on my front porch before I get home. BTW, I like your blush and eyeshadow (Magnetic Attraction?).

    • the Muse

stick in the fridge, don’t use it! it’ll break 🙁 le sigh…! aw thanks! orgasm blush and magnetic attraction eyeshadow ;-D

  • Tammie

I don’t think Venus looks mod on you at all, it looks very cute 🙂

That being said though, I was also not very impressed by these lipsticks…I was considering getting Venus but when I swatched it at Nordstrom yesterday I wasn’t seeing anything to make me want to spend $14.50…

This whole collection is kind of like that for me though, the only thing I ended up getting was Astral Creamsheen Glass, and nothing else is calling out to me either…I was also interested in Galaxy Rose but swatched about the same color as Astral so I didn’t want to spend $40 for both…Astral mostly won out because of the shimmer xD

    • the Muse

      aw thanks tam!

good, glad you saved $$! honestly, they swatch a lot nicer (or at least I thought so) but application is suckage.

      • Tammie

        🙂

I am glad too…I didn’t want to go too crazy with Heavenly Creatures since I had a bunch of Korean makeup/skincare I wanted to get too haha. Also I don’t want to spend all my money before I see if I want anything from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale (specifically from Chanel)…

That’s too bad that they suck though…and in general with Lustres, I thought they would be more forgiving since they are shiney, but nope… I only have one, Lustering…which I do use sometimes, but in general I am not too big of a fan…

        • the Muse

mmm agreed tam, lustres are just not my fav finish :-/ def get a little shine but a whole heap of dryness :-/

  • meghan

I went back and forth on these for a while yesterday because they are so pretty…but light colored lustres do not look good on me! So I went with the creamsheens instead, and I’m so much happier because I <3 creamsheens!

  • Icequeen81

I know that feeling mine sheer plum ( lustre ) has melted down also. I hate that.

    • the Muse

ugh it’s the worst! they snap in two within seconds of application! not cool!

  • Teri

I just picked up “Cut a Capper” today & it is honestly the only makeup item
I’ve ever considerd purchasing a backup of. It’s the perfect the pink for my skin tone!

    • the Muse

teri I have to look into it, it looked intriguing in swatches I’ve seen!

  • Nichole

I purchased Venus, pleasure seeker and cut a caper yesterday at Macy’s on 34 th street. The ppl traffic was horrible but I think it was all worth it. I love the colors my lips are pretty pigmented so pleasure seeker looks like a peachy nude color on me and Venus makes my natural lip color pop, as for cut a caper it added the right amount of a coral creamy color. I usually wear loud colors like up the amp and viva glam nicki. I love Beth dittos booyah! I needed some new everyday colors. They aren’t drying for me, I’ve read lots of reviews about them being drying but they are actually quite moisturizing and the moister last. I love the creamy moisturizing consistency of them.

    • the Muse

no kidding….I thought traffic was fairly ok on Friday, what time about? Glad you’re enjoying ’em! sadly, I found them very dry with uneven application 🙁

      • Nichole

I left at 5 I know I was asking for the traffic but my ill sis wanted to come, she takes forever to get ready..lolz

  • 18thCenturyFox

Yeah the first MAC launch in a dogs age that I skipped the lipsticks … Super Meh!

  • Tiffany Martin

    Oh bummer! These sound like a total bust. No pictures of pleasureseeker? Was it that bad, Muse? (;

  • susan

Yes, I got Venus by post and it’s an ok colour but feels really drying on my lips. The weather is so awful in UK that there’s no chance of it melting but I’m glad I didn’t shell out on the others. Whole collection is pretty to look at but applies fairly disappointingly to be honest. Bright Moon and Water eye shadows look almost the same on my lids!

    • the Muse

susan about the same here with the lipsticks, very drying, patchy application :-/

  • D-tan

I only picked up Fire Sign but realized that I *LOVE* it! I love that it’s sheer and buildable in color. It makes it really wearable for everyday or build it up for a more dramatic look.

I couldn’t believe how amazing it looked on me so I ended up ordering 2 more backups online since they sold out at the MAC stores around where I live. :3

    • the Muse

ha awesome d-tan ;-D I really didn’t pay attention to fire sign but will check it out if it was worthy of two backups sounds like something to look at ;D!
