Dior Diorific Long Wearing True Color Lipstick Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Dior has released four limited edition shades of Long-Wearing True Color Lipstick with their new Grand Bali Collection for Holiday 2012. At a glance I thought the lipsticks were available in a limited edition packaging but actually they are the same dumbbell shape of the original Diorific Lipsticks but the entire tube is gold versus the original blue and gold design.

These are elegant lipsticks with a high quality formula that contains an intense color pay off. The price reflects that at $36 per lipstick.

Let’s take a look!

Dior Diorific Long Wearing True Color Lipstick is truly full throttle lipstick right down to the elegant packaging. Housed in a unique gold tube this lipstick doesn’t skimp on elegant packaging or formula.

This formula offers a deep, rich color pay off with intense pigmentation in a semi-matte finish formulation. There is no glossiness, no shimmer, no sparkle, or glitter in this mix. Although semi-matte in finish it still has a hydrating feel that wears comfortably and long. I’m very impressed with the wear on this as even without a lip liner it stays in place and lasts at least five hours without the need for a touch up.

The colors are rich shades of Holiday red and I was a little scared of them at first. Thoughts of me looking like a clown definitely danced through my head after swiveling the shades up. But the colors have just the right amount of warmth to them that I find them completely wearable. They are sophisticated, elegant, and very festive for the upcoming Holidays. Every girl needs a perfect shade of red lipstick and chances are you’ll easily locate at least one in the Diorific Holiday 2012 shades.

Diorling

Being such bold shades of red I worried they’d migrate around my lip line but once in place they stayed true all day. Color remained in place and stayed vibrant and beautiful all day without losing any of the intensity of my first application.

Overall, Diorific Long Wearing True Color Lipstick is expensive but well worth indulging in if you like posher makeup. Dior did an excellent job with the packaging and the formula here. They exceeded my expectations as I was worried about the finish and the boldness of the colors but both turned out wonderfully well. Red is the shade of the season and these take festive to gorgeous levels!

Alright, I just have to throw it out there… I can’t get over how phallic these look once you take the covers off. Do I need to say “red rocket” for a reference? I would not be able to put one of these lipsticks on in public lol :p
That aside, both of the colors look gorgeous on you Muse!! These two tones of red are absolutely perfect for your skin tone 🙂

    • the Muse

  • Scarlet Scorpion

  • Jen_M_sunshine

Seriously, you can wear these girl! Awesome shades for you, I mean just beautiful on you. So jealous!

  • Kate

Even though you two have radically different hair, I am getting a sort of Gwen Stefani vibe from you here. And in my book that is a total compliment!!! You are BOTH gorgeous, IMO.

You both have lovely, untanned skin, and you both have big, beautiful brown eyes that are framed with amazing lashes. Once you don the red lips, I really do see it.

Rock on with your gorgeousness, you beautiful girl!

    • the Muse

aw kate man that means so much to me thank you SO SO SO much! I am so blessed to be able to share part of my crazy makeup madness with wonderful people like you!

  • Jennifer

This is such odd packaging…I don’t think I like it! Either way, it looks lovely on you. I for one don’t even own a red lipstick. For someone who doesn’t wear bold colors often – would you say it’s worth it to splurge or just go for a drugstore red?

    • the Muse

jennifer if you don’t wear reds often a drugstore one would be fine and nowadays you can def find a nice inexpensive red with a great formula!

  • Jenny

Ohhh so gorgeous! Not like I need any more red lipsticks (that’s all I wear!) but wow, these are tempting!

  • Rachel

Do you know if these will be available in Sephora? My sephora is the only place that carries Dior for miles but I’m dying for these beautiful lippies!! I love the packaging (even though I just bought 2 chanel rouge allures yesterday…I’m a sucker for new stuff :))

    • the Muse

Rachel, I believe Holiday will launch at Sephora, so far it’s on counters but hopefully shortly at Sephora.

  • OrangeLipstickBlog

Am I the only one who doesn’t like the packaging? It looks like something you’d find in a sex shop! :-X

    • Kate

Yes, I agree, as do others. But I don’t see it as a negative, hee hee, quite the opposite.

OK, I’ll give myself a time out for being “inappropriate”.

  • Crystal

Diorling looks amazing on you! I’m glad others have commented on the packaging being ehem suggestive/sexual etc. I don’t feel like such a pervert ha!

  • Alison

They are so gorgeous!!! Thank you such much for the swatches! Do you think I’m wrong in thinking Diorling kind of looks like the Red Velvet lip butter? It’s my absolutely favorite red, and I’d love a version with better staying power.
