Lush North Pole Soap Review

One variation is never enough for beauty junkies that’s why Lush North Pole Soap comes in two fragrances! Lush created their new Lush North Pole Soap for Holiday 2012 in two different colors with two different fragrances so you get a little variety with your Christmas Shower Cheer.

I picked up the white variation for myself recently from Lush UK and I’m ever so happy I did because it quite reminds me of Lush’s long gone Candy Cane Soap I loved so much.

The pink is all about chocolate and mint. Sounded like a mint Tootsie Roll to me! Since I don’t like the smell of chocolate I decided I’d try out the white version.

Although wholly white it does feature small bits of pink in the center for a festive candy-cane like appearance. Every see those non traditional pink and white candy canes? This is what this reminds me of.

It quite smells a lot like Candy Cane Soap to me. Not super minty in the least, not candy cane-ish or peppermint either…it’s sort of a subtle mint with a bit of a twang to it. Lush says it’s woodsy and minty but I seriously don’t get the wood note at all and I can’t really describe with the back note is that’s paired up with the mint. It’s kinda sorta minty candy but the “twang” I’m talking about kinda morphs the scent.

It’s unique…that’s for sure!

If you loved Candy Cane Soap and are terribly sad it hasn’t rejoined the Lush Christmas world this year I’d happy recommend selecting a slice of North Pole White instead as you’ll be quite happy how similiar it smells.

I won’t Muse Approve it because this one might not be everyone’s cuppa. I will however, recommend sniffing it. You might be get as addicted as I did when I sniffed it the first time.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Lol I got little samples of the pink and the white and thought they smelled the same… mint and chocolate. But I got them out to smell them again and you’re right, they’re different. I kinda prefer the white one as well, because between Snow Fairy, Space girl and Yuzu and Cocoa I’m well stocked in the sweetness department. You’re right though, no woodsy smell. But maybe it’s just toning down the mint so I can’t perceive it?

oh theya re indeed ;-D no wood at all perhaps a bit of citrus? and mint? not sure what that back note is!?

Ok so I went to the shop today and the nicest SA ever said probably the other smells are the cedarwood and cypres oils, “mutating” under stronger scents of the peppermint oil and perfume. I’m going to agree with her, because I just can’t guess on my own x.x It’s a nice scent combo though, but I think subtler than I’m used to from Lush.

interestingggggggggggg! perhaps I get the cypress oil a bit…I like it though, it’s quite nice. did you try last year’s candy cane? this kinda sorta smells similiar!

      • Marta

No, but I know some Lush fans do complain about the scent changes in Melting Snowman and Candy Cane. I don’t mind variations as long as they’re as good as this year’s… honestly, Christmas’ LEs usually break my heart more often than bother me. I like lavender and between Twilight and Twinkle I am very happy!

I didn’t understand the ~chocolate~ part of the soap until I ate an After Eight…then it all made sense to me.

Based on the description on the website, I thought I’d hate the white part and love the pink part. I went into the store today, and was pleasantly surprised – the whole thing is super-tasty smelling. Needless to say I bought a chunk (but the whole thing wound up to be pink. LOL. guess I’m going to have to buy more!)

I’m still on a hunk of Rock Star soap, but I’m super excited to try this one.

Bummer, have you sniffed the pink part? The friend I went in with thought that I needed to smell both colors because of my OCD and not because of being advised that they were different by blogs. -__- Some people!

I’ll probably get a hunk of both colors anyway!
