Flower Win Some, Rouge Some Creme Blush Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Flower by Drew Barrymore is getting its fair share of media this month. I picked up the Flower Win Some, Rouge Some Creme Blush on Walmart’s site recently and decided to give it a try over the last few days.

The new Flower Makeup Collection is quite a range of products with a nice budget price. I was a little worried going into my purchases as I didn’t expect it to win my attention by wow, I was impressed.

I didn’t have the will or the time to head to my evil empire Walmart to pick up any of the new Flower Collection so I shopped it at Walmart.com. Shipping was free, it arrives within two days, and I didn’t have to tackle heading into the store which for me is life changing (I hate Walmart with a passion).

As I mentioned above I was a little worried about the Flower Makeup Collection. You never know what to expect from Walmart….so I went into the purchase with some wariness. The Flower Win Some, Rouge Some Creme Blush is available in six shades for $7.98 each. I’m not really a big cream blush user but after trying (and loving) this formula I’ll be picking up more very soon!

Flower is not tested on animals for those concerned about the issue and is made in the USA.

This is a 0.14 oz size of blush so for the price you’re getting a nice bit of product. The actual blush compact is tiny, about the size of a MAC Eyeshadow. The packaging is very cute and refreshing. It has a rose gold overlay and a white surrounding compact. The blush is about the size of a shadow pan, perhaps a little bigger than a quarter. This size makes it easy to use with finger tips but not so nice a size for those who prefer using a brush since the tiny pan might prove a pain to dip a brush into.

The blush has a light, creamy texture that applies and blends like a dream. It dries down to a silky soft finish that gives a super healthy glow on cheeks. It can be used sheer or easily built up for more pop. It wears for anywhere from five to six hours on my drier skin without a touch up needed between that time. I love the creamy texture, I love how easily it applies, and I love how natural it looks on my skin.

The shade I choose was Elegant Azalea which is a rosy pink with excellent pigmentation.

Overall, I was VERY impressed. As I mentioned I don’t typically like cream blushes but this formula sold me. It’s under ten dollars, applies amazingly well, and has a lightweight beautiful finish that gives my skin the look of health and vitality.

I do recommend picking up a few shades. Even if you dislike cream blushes I think you’ll love this one.

Well done Drew. If the entire Flower line is as good as this blush you have a brand new fan girl on your hands.

Anyone try?

Do share!

You can view the entire collection of Flower Cosmetics at flowerbeauty.com and purchase it at Walmart or Walmart.com exclusively.

Muse Approved.

I’m really excited to try this line! I’m glad to see a positive review for it. This blush color is gorgeous. It’s officially on my list of products to try. 🙂

    • the Muse

do do do get it. I can’t wait to get the other shades, it’s really a great formula and particularly love this color!

  • crango

I’m so glad you’re reviewing this line!!! I saw it at Walmart last week but was hesitant to try anything since I hadn’t heard anything about it. The last thing I need are more blushes, but now I’m tempted….

    • the Muse

crango same here, plus add the celebrity factor in and the fact it is sold at walmart and really cheap (price wise) and I got a little wary…but I’m glad I tried it, AWESOME blush ;D

  • Amy

wow! great color, I have to admit I’m a Drew Barrymore fan and when I heard about her new makeup line I was a bit worried (you know celebs and their products) but I’m glad there’s something nice in the collection.

    • the Muse

agreed amy, always scared of celeb launches! but actually she did a nice job ;-D

  • LINDARRAGNAR

wow that swatches look great! But it looks even better on you! It looks so natural!!

  • Jen_m_sunshine

I just went to check out the products and WANT the peach cream blush AND she has cream shadows too! Did you by chance pick up any of the cream shadows to try?

    • Jen_m_sunshine

What are you wearing on your lips in this photo? You look so fresh and pretty!

      • the Muse

thank YOU! it’s the new neutrogena moisture sticks, can’t recall the name of the shade at the moment but it’s a lovely golden peach!

        • Jen_m_sunshine

OOH – LOVING the neutrogena gloss sticks. I have 3 – fresh papaya, warm caramel and soft rasberry! Very moisturizing feeling and like the change up of a citrus scent although fine with mint too. Can’t wait to see how the Flower cream shadows rate!@ STill can’t quite pull the trigger on the Bobbi sticks at $28 each – esp knowing that the Clinqiue ones will be out soon…

          • the Muse

bb sticks are coming up this week been testing for two weeks so feel good about a review soon ;-D love the neutrogena so far as well ;-D I think that might be the shade, soft papaya that I am waering here ;-D I like mint too…I got more fruity punchy taste ;-D Hopefully the flower cream shadows are awesome!

          • Jessica

Sorry to butt in! I just wanted to let you gals know I picked up two of the Bobbi Brown shadow sticks and I was really disappointed and ended up returning them! They were very pigmented and blended fairly well, but they never set and felt sticky and wet on my eyes and irritated the hell out of them! When I went to the counter to return them, the SA told me I wasn’t the first person to return them for that very reason! So heads up. :/ I love the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks though, and I can’t wait to try the Clinique ones!

  • AME

If it was for sale through her website I would try it out. I will not give that company a single cent, in store or online.

  • Carolina

The blush looks good on you…did you pick up the bb cream?…or concealers?I really want to try this brand…

    • the Muse

picked up the bb cream carolina but not the concealer, swatches online looked super pale so need to go to store for the concealer 🙂

  • Manda

Super excited about this line and I do love Drew Barrymore, but Wal-Mart?! Not sure if I can bring myself to purchase anything there :/ I do love a good cream blush, though…

  • Jennifer

DId you buy anything else from the line that you plan to review? I was worried about this collection too – it makes me happy that this turned out well! Also, I also hate going to wal mart. I’m more of a target kind of girl.

    • the Muse

hey jennifer me too, love target ;-D I was very worried, I thought it would be poor quality but so far everything I tried I liked. I ordered a lot of different stuff so expect a few reviews over the next week or two ;D

  • Suzie

Did you order her BB Cream as well Muse? It is being advertised as a real BB Cream (plus paraben free I think?), I think I may actually try this one.

    • the Muse

hey suzie ;-D I THINK the entire line is paraben free but don’t quote me and yes I ordered it ;-D Been using it since Wed so I should review this week sometime, so far I love it, decent coverage, and NOT a tm formula ;-D

  • Victoria

I got the princess and the peony, its so lovely. I love the packaging and I was pleasantly surprised because it wasn’t greasy or sticky. I am definitely trying more. I also got the lip butter, its not bad either.

    • the Muse

victoria exactly, very soft and silky on dry down and not tacky or greasy ;-D I got a few of the lip butters, gonna try those shortly ;D!

  • Tigrrrl

Completely agree with you about the blush–lovely color, amazing quality. (And for me, made in the US and not tested on animals goes a long way toward counterbalancing the Walmart factor.) Drew’s explanation re: Walmart makes a lot of sense; she said she “wanted to get these products into people’s hands,” and since Target already has the Sonia Kashuk line and Kmart’s future is uncertain, that pretty much leaves Walmart.

Now I have to order the BB cream! I think you will love the lip butters. My chronically dry lips certainly do–with every other lip butter/tinted balm I’ve tried, my lips feel dry again within an hour, but not with these. Beautiful pigmentation, too.

  • Ruby

The lip butter I purchased was lovely and moisturizing- coming from a total balm girl! But I hate the packaging, it’s so tacky! And the lip butter was more opaque than expected- avoid haute honeysuckle unless you like orange lips! I also bought a nail polish and that was nice, but I wish they had more shimmer and glitter. All except two of the colors are creams, which are nice, but I like some bling! Thanks for listening to my rant, lol. The blush looks lovely!

    • the Muse

hey ruby! I liked the packaging of the balms awww why didn’t you like it? seemed cute to me ;-D thanks for telling us about your purchases ;-D very helpful!

      • Ruby

I don’t know. Just seems kind of grandma-ish. And the shape is so irritating because it doesn’t fit in my lipstick holders.

  • E

The packaging on the BB creams reads paraben free but another reviewer points out there are several parabens in the ingredient list. My Walmart has yet to carry the Flower line. So looking forward to seeing more swatches and reviews before I buy. Thanks for the review.

    • the Muse

my pleasure E and thanks, I’ll have a look at my packaging tonight and see what it says ;-D

      • Suzie

This totally bums me out if it is true. I was really excited that there was going to be a drugstore line that had paraben free stuff.

  • Amber

May I please ask how you got free shipping on your order? I was browsing last night and it was ringing up with $5 shipping for one item.
I went in store and purchased a nail polish, lip butter, and lipstick and LOVE them all!

    • the Muse

I spent over $45 and when I checked out it was free shipping it also says it on the page of each product:
Free shipping on eligible $45 orders with home free

  • Stacy

You sold me! It looks great on you! Going to check it out! Have a wonderful day MUSE!

  • Simone

There are two blogs I read religiously especially when it comes to reviews! Yours is one of them 🙂
The other, recently had raving reviews on a nail polish from the Flower line!

I am SO amped to see another positive review! I can’t wait to see how some of the other products perform for you!

I’m so happy to have such a reliable source to look toward when it comes to cosmetics! I’ve saved so much time, money, and disappointment by reading your blog, and I just want to thank you for that!

Keep being you, my makeup Muse!

    • the Muse

oh man simone that is SO so flattering thank you VERY MUCH <3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GK

I went to Walmart yesterday & they didn’t have the line. The woman at customer service was a complete beyotch & didn’t know anything about it. Really want to try it, especially after seeing how pretty it looks on you & your description makes it even more inviting. I’m really interested in the BB, can’t wait to see what it really is! 😉

    • the Muse

gk order online ;-D easier than dealing with walmart and the people of walmart hehehe ;D

      • Ruby

Am I the only one who like Walmart employees?? They are genuinely nice ppl, several ppl at the makeup area are disabled girls who are really nice. I never got the hype over Target, since they are same low-end giant who outsources overseas, but with a fancier set-up.

  • Brittany Landers

I have mixed feelings about the Flower line…based on the lipsticks, lipglosses, & nail polishes I was sent to try. I think the packaging is cute & fun, the colors are all trendy and up-to-date, etc. However, the color payoff on all of the lip products is not very good. Thank you for this review! 🙂

  • Kimmwc03

I bought two of the lipsticks Saturday (and a polish I haven’t tried yet). I found them lovely; excellent pigmentation. I plan to buy more but my store only had lip items, mascara and nail polish.

  • Ruby

lovely review…..although I don’t understand all the hate. Walmart is not the only store that is outsourcing to China, and they hire many disabled ppl in my area…..
Def going to check out this line.

    • Jane

There are loads of books that detail specifically how Walmart moving into reduces the pay of everyone in town, ruins small businesses, and has changed American manufacturing.

      • Ruby

I agree, Walmart is a giant “almost-monoply”, but then again, I would still consider Target to be the same outsourcing American production. I don’t see Target hiring disabled, ppl w/o high school edu, albeit a higher pay. I don’t see the quality of Target or K-Mart, or others of much higher quality than Walmart, either. Maybe it’s just my experience in the Walmart near me, the employees there are super friendly, and the return policy is superb.

      • AME

And they do a lot of this damage in the name of their religious entity, so that somehow makes it ok.

  • Jessica

I’m seriously loving this line so far as well. I sucked it up (I share your hatred of Walmart, friend!!) and hit up three separate Walmart stores (the horror!!) and only came across the end-cap display with a limited selection of products. I picked up a velvet finish lipstick (So Gladiola) and a gloss (Baby’s Breath) and I really love both! I ended up ordering some more things online because the selection online was just too tempting! I ordered the peach blush – so glad to hear you love the one you picked up! Hopefully my order will arrive soon!

    • the Muse

yay jessica ;-D nice hauling…I figure I’d have no luck in store so rather than face the drama of Walmart it was easier to get it all online. enjoy your haul!

  • Corey

I got the rose lip butter and adore it! Glad to see you liked the blush- I will have to pick some up now!!!

  • jen_m_sunshine

Jessica – not butting in at all! Thanks for the info as for that price I expect them to be stellar. Especially with all the alternatives available and all are less expensive. Like the grey and plum so hoping the clinique versions of those shades are good!

  • Lindz

The color you chose looks great! I’ve always wanted to give cream blush a try but I always hear that it’s a no go for gals with oily skin. I want to try out some of the Flower products though.

  • kiwikiwidragon

Normally I would order from the site but sadly, my walmart.com account was hacked. I would not save you CC info on the site. They got me for $200 bucks…I have since closed the account and card but what a PITA. I will have to go in store unfortunatly…..
BB sticks might be the only reason…lol

    • the Muse

wow that sucks….I ordered as a guest with my discover card, no issues that I know of!? you got me scared hahaha but discover is excellent as far as fraudulent claims.

  • lily

My Walmart had a little display of the Flower line a couple of weeks ago. I read about Drew’s flower line in Instyle magazine a few months back so I recognized it immediately! However, I only remember seeing mascara, nailpolish and lipstick. They didnt have the cream blush when I looked last time but now I need to get back to walmart to see if they have it in stock now! I’m a HUGE cream blush fan, I have a whole drawer set aside for just cream blushes. The ones I have are all high end and except for a NARS multiple, I love all of them. I cant wait to get this!
