Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

I am loving Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm at the moment. It’s been pretty cold the last few days and my lips suffer for it as they get dry and chapped.

You ever just torture yourself with chapped lips? You KNOW you shouldn’t be licking them but you still do anyway to gain some sort of small victorious relief….but the relief is so damn short lived and just made things worst.

Ugh!

That’s why we all needed a good moisturizing balm to get us through the long, hard winter and if it’s tinted? All the nicer!

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm is available in six shades for around $6.99-$8.99 each.

These are a long, thin oval shaped balm that provide lips with a hint of sheer tint and a formula that moisturizers lips and leaves them looking full and more defined. Over extended use it helps improve the texture of lips and restores the look of rosiness according to the packaging plus and SPF 20 helps protects them.

I’ve used them over the course of three weeks and I’ve seen visible improvement in my lips over that time. Firstly, they actually heal dry lips (not chapped ones though) on a single use. They have a smooth, balmy texture that’s very lightweight and comfortable with a sheer touch of color that’s quite noticeable. On my dry lips with a few hours of wear I’ll notice dryness and flaky areas are smoother and softer. LOVE them for that reason along. I did notice that if my lips are dry and chapped with redness they didn’t really work so well at healing however, for just dryness alone they do provide a very moist, hydrating feeling with a hint of a sheen that really softens my lips up.

The nice part is they have a lovely hint of tint to go along with the formula. It’s enough of a tint that you can visibly see the shade on your lips. I’m unsure about them promoting a rosier lip, they say this occurs within a week of use, but I didn’t notice as my lips are already quite pigmented as is.

Soft Caramel

Fresh Plum

Overall, if you’re looking for more moisture, hydration, and a nice hint of tint this a great way to get all three plus SPF seals the deal. I haven’t stopped using this since getting it, my fav shade, Fresh Plum, is kinda the perfect elegant rosy plum that I can use at work with a smoky eye easily! It’s nice not having to worry about retouching up my entire lipstick look as I can simply slide this on without a mirror and still enjoy a hydrating feel and some color! It does deserve to be mentioned I find the slim oval design a little awkward to use on my lips at first but you get used to the design quickly enough!

I’ve been using these for a while (I got them from BzzAgent as part of a Neutrogena campaign) and I agree that they rock! I have a light pink and a darker pink that I’v been swapping and my lips have survived the winter pretty well so far. I’m bummed today because it’s super cold and dry out, but my dark pink lip balm is in my other coat pocket! ugh!!!

he trayn totally came prepared today and made sure to bring mine along ;-D It’s freezing out today and my lips needed it hehe ;-D

I’m a tinted lip balm addict…I love my Fresh but I’m always on the hunt for new ones. I think I need one or two of these 🙂

Note – picked up two of these today, Sunny Berry and Fresh Plum, and I love them. The feel is fantastic, comfortable and hydrating, and I like the tints on both. New go-to 🙂

My lips are very unpigmented, a very very light pink (But I’m very very fair, fairer than any foundation I’ve ever tried) and these did not give me a “natural blush” or whatever after taking them off. That said they are a wonderful lip balm I will probably continue purchasing for years.

I love this balm. I actually use the Sheer Shimmer shade, which I find actually has sort of a beige cast to it. I actually use it as a nude lip color with a smoky eye when it’s too cold to haul out my lipsticks. 🙂 I’ll have to try to the rosier shade, though like you, I have fairly pigmented lips for how pale I am, so I doubt I’ll be seeing too much of a difference.

I read through the review three times and couldn’t find any mention of the scent. I am very scent-sensitive (I can only tolerate MAC vanilla and minty type lip products) so I’d like to know what these smell like before buying them…

*head desk* sorry cristina I believed I was replying to the neutrogena stick review which I mentioned taste/flavor…duh! These have a very faint mint/vanilla going on but it is hardly noticeable.

I love the Soft Caramel shade, i haven’t seen them in stores here in Belgium i hope they will be coming this way soon.

I tried the Fresh Plum and it both feels and looks great, very natural appearing but still some color. And it smells like Jolly Ranchers! I have a feeling this is the first of several to inhabit my coat pocket.

    • the Muse

yay happy to hear your good results MJ! need to get the fresh plum, my drugstore didn’t have :-/

  • Nora Brown

I actually returned the one of these I bought. I found it made my lips much more dried out and didn’t moisturize at all!

  • Sammie

I LOVE these but I personally feel they taste/smell like banana – which I LOVE.

  • Etech

I have loved other Neutrogena lip products & can’t wait to try this one. I live in “the snow belt” and it is a constant battle to fight chapped lips. I’ve tried SO MANY products for the lips and believe it or not, the best regime is using Blistex (in the pot – wish THIS product came in a tube) at nighttime and a good balm during the day. Look forward to trying

  • Abbie

Hey great review once again <33 I was wondering even though u said in the review it didn't rlly make ur lips rosier….what color r u lips naturally? For me who has dark lips do u think it would make them more pink/red??

  • V.G.

Hi! I hope you can reply to this even though it’s an old post.. Soft Caramel is an all time favorite of mine, but I can’t seem to find any other lipsticks in this unique shade… Have you come across of any lip products in a similar color? If not, do you know what this type of shade is called so I can try to describe it at a local beauty shop? Thanks in advance!

    • Isabella Muse

Hi VG I don’t know if a good dupe sadly. I guess it could be best described as a cocoa nude!
