Olay Fresh Effects S’wipe Out! Refreshing Make Up Removal Cloths Review

I was gifted this item by a friend, brand, or family member.

Olay Fresh Effects S’wipe Out! Refreshing Make-up Removal Cloths are one of six new product releases in the Olay Fresh Effects Skincare Collection that recently launched for Spring 2013.

I was telling you in a prior post that I feel like Olay is definitely trying to reach out to a younger demographic with their new Fresh Effects Collection. The packaging definitely has a “fun” fresher feel, the price point is cheaper, and the products they released with this launch should garner the interest of younger beauty lovers.

I’m all youth at heart so I def saw some appeal in this collection particularly because it isn’t as sterile and medical looking like Olay’s typical skincare packaging ya know?

Now as far as makeup remover wipes, lord knows, I don’t need to try ANOTHER brand of wipes. But I’m a blogger and I make a ton of use out of wipes as I need them to swipe off swatches and the likes. Plus they are great for easy clean up. And my mentality about new beauty is “Yes, yes, must try the precious!” so I was pretty excited to take on the Olay Fresh Effects Make Up Removal Cloths.

Here’s some thoughts!

At $5.99 for 20 I don’t think they are the cheapest option available however, with so many stores having sales and BOGO offers you have the chance to get them for far less I’m sure. A friend of mine picked these up for me and I believe he paid $4.99 which again I feel is a tad high for only 20 wipes…..

I always want someone to grace me with at least 50 wipes for six bucks ya know? But maybe I’m alone in my frugal makeup remover musings.

These are lightweight yet large sized cloth sans a quilted design or any other bells and whistles. The only thing that would differ them from other makeup wipes is their very generous size which seems to cover my entire face as I wipe.

The other great thing about them is the fact they have that nice slick feel that a MAC Makeup Remover Wipe has (my fav wipes by the way). They leave my skin nicely hydrated after use and have a slightly slick feel as I wipe. Quite pleasant in my experience using them as some wipes don’t really leave behind a hydrated feel but these do.

They only remove basic makeup so don’t expect them to attack hardcore eye makeup or waterproof mascara. They are great for quick clean up jobs or even to remove basic makeup prior to heading over to the sink for a proper clean up. Another words don’t go giving up water and normal cleanser for these wipes.

They do have a very strong fresh scent. I find it very pleasant but sensitive types might find they are a little too fragranced.

Overall, I do think there a tad expensive so I’d suggest waiting for a sale. $3.99-$4.50 seems more reasonable however, $5.99 for a mere 20 wipes, even if they are generously sized, seems a tiny too much. They do a great job removing swatches on my arm as well as cleansing my face of basic lighter makeup.

If you’re looking for a new wipe these are very nice to check out but only on sale!

Tried ’em already?

Don’t you wish high end brands had BOGO sales for brand new products too?

Looks like I’ll be sticking with my Yes to Cucumbers wipes. I think those are 30 wipes for around the same price, right? (I hope I’m right lol) I know everything is going up (except most people’s wages, of course), but I thought the whole point of drugstore products was similar (ish lol) products at a more economical price? I’m interested to see how well these do compared other drugstore brands (especially store brands).

meh yeah…the only bright side is drugstores have so many sales that you can def get them at some point on sale ;-D

This is how I feel about the new Maybelline ones I got since you only get like 25 for $6. I think I was blinded by the pink lol. I do like them though, they are actually gentle and work well other than the fact that they do not remove waterproof mascara like they claim to.

i know I feel so cheap but 25 wipes for six bucks or even 20 in this case seems a lot…..!

      • Tammie

Yeah it really does, 50 wipes I would have been happy with at least.

The only reason I don’t mind TOO much is that wipes are usually a last resort when I am lazy so it lasts me quite a long time but if they were part of my nightly routine I don’t think I’d bother in this case.
