Sephora + Pantone Universe Color Theory Shadow Block Sneak Peek

Here’s one of the earliest sneak peeks you going to get of the new Sephora + Pantone Universe Color Theory Shadow Block releasing with the new Sephora + Pantone Universe Emerald Capsule Collection launching for Spring 2013.

This color shadow block contains three shades of color for $26 and will launch in March from Sephora and Sephora.com.

Take a look at more photos below.

Sephora used the same interesting white packaging as last year but made a vast improvement on it by including a swing out mirror housed below the compact. The packaging is heavy, luxe, simple yet elegant, and very attractive overall. Obviously well worthy of its near $30 price tag. I haven’t tried the shadows inside yet but I don’t doubt they’ll be equally as good considering last year’s Pantone Collection, for me, was a raging success.

I find it interesting that emerald only makes up a very small portion of this palette with the navy shade dominating.

I’m quite eager to try but but I also fear it as I don’t do well with blue shades lately, they kinda emphasize my aging eyes and dark circles! But I’ll have fun trying.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I have a hard time envisioning how I would wear this, and $26 is pretty steep for 3 shadows.

Maybe the silvery-white shade will help “off-set” the blue, and help brighten the eyes to make it more wearable for you. It’s really pretty, though, but I’m also starting to dig the NARS duo, and I’m pretty sure I don’t need both (or do I?).

I think maybe blending the blue and green should make a nice turquoise so that could also make it more wearable ;-D and yeah, def blending the lighter shade will help make it way more wearable ;D

I love the emerald so I find it weird that the color of the year is the tiniest amount! I actually went out and bought an Ulta brand eyeshadow in Green Machine, it is a very close dupe judging from the photo, and it was $3.50.

  • Cindy Ramirez

That’s a pretty small amount of Green and a lot of blue for the color of the year being emerald. I feel like green is more wearable color then blue, and that’s a pretty hefty price tag for just 3 colors. I don’t think I’m going to indulge on this despite how pretty the colors are!

Could you please do a review on this? I would love to see some swatches.

Loving the packaging of this line so far. I posted the ColorByte Lip Wands today, which are so fun. I didn’t expect them to be so cute. Thumbs up .

  • Caroline

I wish they did different finishes of emerald to showcase the color of the year. I think I’ll skip this.

  • Caitlin

Meh. This year’s Pantone color is a bust for me. No way I would wear emerald green eyeshadow for anything but costuming. Since I am not a fan of navy either, this is a total pass for me. I do like the mod look, but that’s all I can give it.

  • Tennyoceres

If only that green was a little bigger. Otherwise I think I’m in love. I have a feeling I’m going to twirl the mirror around if I loosen the attachment enough.

  • crotchfairy

I really wish the green and navy flipped positions in the pan. I’d rather have more of that gorgeous green.

  • BLee

The blue eye color is the more dominating color in the pallet. I though it was about green this year?? They should have swapped the green and blue colors and made the green the larger size. Or maybe Im just missing something here?

  • Lulle

    Bionic? Why bionic?
Anyway, I thought this new collection would show up a lot earlier, considering they already have a teaser on their webpage. March is far away!

  • Emmatr0n

I know it’ll never happen, but I would love it if they released an emerald lipstick in this collection…

I like the layout/design of the palette but I agree it’s odd that the emerald shade is the smallest.

    • Danii

Patience, OCC might have one (Chlorophyll isn’t THAT emerald but still green!) and Illamasqua might actually have a green lipstick/gloss. 🙂 Sephora isn’t very adventurous.

i am glad u are feeling better hun i am looking for more makeup coming spring

  • Peg

I love it!! Lot’s of potential for mixing the colors and making them your own. I got last year’s set and really enjoyed it. I’m glad they added the mirror this year!

  • JCz

I’m all over green nail polish and maybe some interesting green eye liners, but shadows? As much as I like green – and I have green eyes – I just can’t seem to pull off the green eyeshadow look.

  • Abbey

To be honest, I feel like Sephora is out pricing themselves lately. They’re offering singles that are $20 and trios that are almost $30. While their quality has for the most part gotten better recently, I’m just not sure that I’ll ever spend that much on a Sephora brand product (especially considering they’ll go on sale in a few weeks).

  • Brandy

Why am I just not that excited about this palette? Probably ’cause I’m 35, lol! Will take your word for it if you say it makes undereye circles look worse…

  • dia

I figured it out! It’s Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles. Serve with lingerie and cigarettes. I’m in.

  • Rachel

I can see this making a beautiful coloured smoky eye. The navy would also be a great liner shade, if the texture/lasting power is suitable. The design is also really odd but somehow it seems to work!

  • Dani

Hiiii. I think there are three colors that combine well. I have white skin and prefer the navy blue than emerald green, although the color of the moment. Loved this palette. Too bad we do not have here in Brazil, and when you will be very expensive. kisses
