Maybelline Infra-Red Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick Review & Swatches
Maybelline pops into spring with a new selection of limited edition Vivids Lipstick. Infra-Red is one of three shades released with the Mabyelline Color Goes Electric Collection for Spring 2013.
You know how scared I am with red lipsticks. I typically like warmer shades of red but I find myself venturing out of my comfort zone more and more lately. For example, I adored the reds released with MAC Archie’s Girls and MAC’s Marilyn Monroe Collection.
Infra-Red is definitely a popping shade of red with an impressive texture, finish, and gorgeous pigment. It’s pretty powerful and quite bold and not really a shade I’d associate with Spring but adore it I do.
Take a look!
I have a love hate relationship with Maybelline’s Color Sensational Lipstick Collection. They don’t really have the best formula in terms of wear. I wish they were lighter, more moisturizing, and a little less “Hey, I’m WEARING Lipstick!” It’s just that type of formula that makes itself known.
On the upside the color selection is incredible and there are some real gems to be had here for such an inexpensive price tag ranging from $5-$7 depending where you purchase.
The Vivids Collection was launched for Spring and I was quite surprised so soon after that Maybelline was going ahead and releasing new, limited edition shades.
Pop of Cherry, Orange Edge, and Infra-Red
As with the original Vivids this formula is super pigmented. A single swipe yields excellent color coverage. Most of the Vivids range (well probably all really) has a creamy texture and a cream finish sans any shimmer or glitter. Infra-Red had a rich, creamy texture that glides onto lips beautifully. It is quite weightless and comfortable to wear surprisingly. The color is a bright, bold true red shade. If you’re looking for a fuller color coverage lipstick on a budget this is a great pick up. You’ll want to be careful with this shade as it does accentuate every single little line or fake. Prep well and avoid applying on super dry lips as the finish won’t look nearly as smooth. They also like to migrate or at least on me they do so a little lipliner would be helpful.
I love this shade though and can forsake a little migration for it.
If you missed on some of the reds from Archie’s Girls or Marylin’s shades and still want a bold, true red to wear with a perfect nude eye or cat eye I’d say pick Infra-Red up. It provides excellent pigmentation, quite a good formula, and the price is just right for the beauty budget girls (and guys).
Muse Approved.
