Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner Review & Swatches

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner

I recently located Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner at my local Harmons. These launched earlier last year in the UK however, they are newly launched for Spring 2013 here in the US. The displays were originally limited to three shades however, the pencil has since launched as part of the general catalog and includes ten total shades (including a nude shade for brightening eyes!).

At under $5 per liner they are an ideal pick up for those on a budget. At Ulta they are currently $4.49 each and available as a BOGO offer so you can get the second pencil at 50% Off! Score!

Here are some thoughts!

These are rather fab pencils with creamy finish, excellent pigment, and an easy to apply and smudge formula. The creamy texture glides easily over eyes without skipping or tugging leaving behind a nicely pigmented line that smudges easily should you so desire. I purchased and tried pretty basic shades of Brown and Black however, the color catalog has some nicer popping shades should you want a bit more drama including deep blues and aquas.

On my drier eyes they lasted a full day without flaking or smudging and on my waterline about a four hour period before disappearing a bit and completely fading after hour five. The texture was easy to work with due to the creamy consistency of the pencils and they had a fairly easy to remove formula as well at the end of the night with a little eye makeup remover.

If you’re looking for a creamy textured eyeliner sans sparkle with a creamy semi-matte finish under five dollars these are an excellent pick up. They apply easily and wear well on both the lashline and waterline.

Nice budget pick for an eyeliner!

I’ve been looking for something with staying-power on the waterline; I will *definitely* be giving these a try. Also, the BOGO deal at ULTA makes it all the more enticing.

  • Smriti

I usually use maybelline’s colossal kajal on waterline as well as an eyeliner occasionally, but it’s nowhere near as creamy or glossy as this one! I may have to break my matte spell and hunt down a glossy eyeliner pencil like this one.

      • Smriti

Really?! I was sold on the glossiness! Now maybe I’ll skip this. (Or wear it only when I know I will be photographed under a flash, hehe :P)

          • Jen

Haha, I’m actually glad they’re not so glossy. That way I can wear them as semi-matte (which I like with certain looks) or add a little bit of eyeshadow over them to add some shimmer/sparkle when I want.

  • Deeds

Oooohh! I’ve been meaning to pick up a nude liner for my waterline. I’ll have to give these a try.

    Thanks, Muse!

    • Maddy

I have been using the Nude for about 2 weeks and I love it. I only paid $3.00 at Walmart for it. They also have a white one to brighten eyes.

      • the Muse

THAT’s a deal! I paid $3.79 at Harmons and thought it was great but $3 bucks even better!

  • Tammie

I’m going to have to try the nude one on the waterline…I’ve tried others but they were too expensive to experiment with and at least with this one if it lasts decently I can always buy another to stash at work for a touchup.

    • the Muse

i can’t get on board the nude waterline thing, it makes me look like a zombie hehe!

      • Tammie

Haha! That’s definitely not a good look (except for Halloween)!

I am just still in the “giving it a try” phase, every other one I’ve tried (not many) lasted approx. 30 seconds on my waterline so I can’t even tell how I like it lol.

        • the Muse

wahahhhhaaa ;-D nude eyes and nude lips aren’t I cute ;-D I’m unsure I get the trend tbh!

          • Tammie

Yeah I can’t do nude lips at all haha.

The only reason I want to try the nude liner on my eyes is because the rims of my eyes are pretty red so it seems like it would look a lot better if I could conceal that.

          • the Muse

tammie some folks rock it, maybe it’ll work fabs for ya!

  • Jane

I have the Taupe and I like it. If it was a cool taupe instead of warm, I’d love it.

  • Teresa

I saw these on Josh Collier’s YouTube channel and was convinced to grab one in black.

I can’t say enough about the texture! They do not tug at all. They last on me from 5 am until 9 pm without flaking or smearing. My allergies have made my eyes a watery mess, so I have yet to try them on my waterline, but I can’t wait to try Nude out!

    • the Muse

that’s brill news teresa ;-D love me some Josh and so glad that his rec got you to grab the black ;-D these are great for the price!

  • Kiss & Make-up

I really like these pencils! The pigmentation is great and they apply like a dream.

  • Emily

I bought the nude one; and I loooove it for waking up looking refreshed; along with concealer of course; and this is coming from a girl who is about to get 3-4 hours of sleep for the second night in a row! Yay beating the studying out of it face! 🙂

    • the Muse

aw emily good luck with your school load! <3! I know the feeling of working on three-four hours of sleep!

  • Robin

So getting these! I wanted the Lancôme taupe eyeliner, but it costs over 20.00. For that I price, I can get several especially with the BOGO!!

  • denise

I got the nude one at WalMart recently. It seems to stay on the waterline very well (4 or 5 hours maybe) but it sort of stings my super-sensitive eyes. I can only tolerate the burning every once in a while so I’m gonna keep it to special occasions or mornings after a rough night. 🙂 Based on your rec, I think I’ll pick up some of the other colors for non-waterline use.

  • sigilia

i bought one of these in a nude color for my water line, after i bought it i regretted it because i never liked eye liners from them, but i was shocked it went on so easy and when i put it on in the morning it last till well after night time , very impressed .

  • Kesla

First off, I think your reviews are awesome. Detailed, yet succinct. Makeup is a passion of mine and I enjoy reading the blogs to see what else I can discover. I love this eyeliner as well and am amazed by how opaque the color is. They are impressive and I hope the word is out because I want this product to stay on the shelves! Anyone out there who hasn’t tried it? Run out and get one! I’m currently on the hunt to find both of the blue shades as they have been out of stock everywhere I look.

    • the Muse

you can sharpen it with a eyeliner sharpener purchased at the drugstore.

      • Garnet

Are you sure about the sharpening? It doesn’t seem to be made of the same material as other pencils….

  • Steph

How do think these fare in staying power/anti smudging when compared to Milani Liquif’eye and NYX Slide On pencils? They all seem to be very similar but the Rimmel is definitely cheapest and easier to find. Thanks for your help!

  • Sarah

The plastic look of the tip let mr believe this was a liner I would not have tosharpen, and tthe main reason I bought it. I feel tricked and cheated. Not happy at all, and the liner is anything but precise. Only 5$ if you like it, 5$ down the drain when you don’t. Will never buy it again!

    • Sarah

Adding insult to injury, when I did sharpen the stupid thing, it broke. SO not impressed!

      • Geri

Put the eye pencil in the refrigerator for a few hours before sharpening it. Then it might not break. I just sharpened mine after it had been in the refrigerator 2 hours. I read about this online to put it in the refrigerator. Use a sharpener that is for eye pencils.

  • ash

I really liked this liner & the price is right. Goes in smooth & creamy but I need to sharpen. I thought it looked like a twist up. I’ll try the fridge & sharpen. That end feels plastic so I hope it works. Very nice liner. Adds drama to my eyes which I can never seem to get. .. nice for someone who has trouble looking a little fixed up with makeup. I always come away looking very natural with No drama but sometimes I want a new dramatic look.
