Kat Von D Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette for Summer 2013

Kat Von D Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette

You always wanted an all matte eyeshadow palette from Kat Von D didn’t you? The upcoming Kat Von D Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette launching for Summer 2013 brings it to you!

Take a peek!

Kat Von D Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow Palette Summer 2013

Kat Von D goes ALL matte as in eight shades of matte eyeshadow in her new Ladybird True Romance Eyeshadow ($36). It’s been a while since they launched a True Romance Eyeshadow Palette so I imagine many folks are excited, I know I am.

This palette contains eight matte pigmented shadows and an Autograph Pencil liner. I admit I’m SO glad they did away with the brush in the palette. Seriously, the brushes were such rubbish! It’s nice they included a pencil eyeliner instead!

Shades:

  • Für Elise
  • Vespertine
  • Renholdër
  • Siouxsie-sioux
  • Unrequited
  • Harlow
  • Wölf
  • Cleopatra
  • Mini Autograph Pencil in Immortal Love (brown)

This is coming soon to Sephora and Sephora.com

I don’t love mattes but I can get on board with these nudes. Likey!

P.S. How do you even pronounce the names of some of those shades? *insert rolling eyes here*

I REALLY want this one! I must be in the minority who LOVES mattes. I am trying to convince myself I don’t need this until fall…..do not need yet…do not need yet..

  • Madii

Please don’t be so American when commenting on ‘hard to pronounce’ names… There are other languages besides English you know 😉

    • the Muse

sorry madii, was just trying to say it would be damn hard telling folks what I’m wearing on my eyes because I couldn’t pronounce it 🙂 didn’t mean to offend!

    • charleen

Well considering that Kat Von D is an “American” company you would expect the names to be in English and easy to pronounce. I feel you Muse!

      • the Muse

we can stumble over the names together charleen 🙂 but anne just confirmed the one I was having the most prob with, ok I think I got it now 🙂

        • Cindy Ramirez

This is a nice, happy fun place to hang out, so I’ll refrain from becoming super sarcastic internet troll.

But I Sorta looked at the names thinking ‘Is that necessary?”

  • Lauren

I would totally get this, but I just justify a $36 price tag :/

    • amy

These shadows are sooo worth the pricetag. They are smooth, buttery, and richly pigmented, and last forever. If you have access to a Sephora, do check them out in person. If you break down the price of each shadow, they’re just over $4 each, and you really do get a decent amount of product in each pan. Perhaps when Sephora has a F&F sale, you can justify it then, LOL.

  • Anne

    Is it siouxie-Sioux that’s throwing you for a loop? It’s “susie-sue”
    Fur Elise? Fur e-leeza.
    Love your reviews!

    • the Muse

it was def fur elise! 😀 I was thinking it would be fur e-leeza but now that you confirmed kinda happy to know lol 😀 I was like hmmmm it can’t be THAT easy can it!? aw thanks Anne <3!

  • kimkats

Me Likely!!! I love mattes and I can see this one carrying thru summer and well into fall – great colors for fall too!

Oh, and I’ll bet dollars to donuts you’ve heard “fur elise” a bunch of times, only you didn’t know it. Here’s what it sounds like:

Schroeder played in all the time! 🙂

    • the Muse

wow *head desk* I honestly didn’t even think they were talking about THAT…:-D I was thinking it was some exotic desert lol!

  • amy

I *need* this palette! Seriously… just when I thought I didn’t need any more neutrals, she pulls this out of the vault! I have all but two of her palettes (I just couldn’t justify Angeles & Mi Vida Loca due to all the pastels), so I, too, am a bit of a collector. Besides, I’d be amiss if I resisted a shadow named Siousie-Sioux… As for the difficult names, many of her product names are of a musical influence, mainly classical & alternative bands, which are often foreign. This will make an amazing addition to the rest of my KvD palettes, so I’m off to make a space for this one to join them.

    • amy

BTW, is there a release date set for this, yet? I will seriously be counting down the days… I have never been so excited about the release of *any* product, including the last 3, and Summer collections typically disappoint me, but I neeeeed this one.

        • amy

I don’t know how I can wait that long… I’m worse than a little kid anticipating Christmas, sometimes, LOL.

          • the Muse

LOL ;-D aw keep chcking back sometimes sephora launches early!

  • caroline

If this had a lighter color for a highlight, it would be seriously perfect.

  • Caitlin

ZERMAGERD, I am in love with everything about that palette. Gorg, gorg, gor! I love the cover, too, and the nice big mirror!

  • Rani

Soo pretty! I’m torn between this and Lorac’s glogetter palette:)

  • Evilyn1983

This launched on sephora.com a week ago. Ups delivered mine shattered this past Monday so now I’m awaiting my replacement. It was so shattered I couldn’t make out a single color 🙁 I’m sure I’ll love it just like all her others!

    • the Muse

wow you’re lucky…! not in stock as of yet on sephora must be a fluke you got to order :-D! sadness it cracked 🙁

      • amy

Apparently, based on other forums & product reviews on Sephora.com, people have already been able to order this… I’m thinking perhaps it was mistakenly made available prematurely, so now they’ve back-stepped. I requested a notification for when it’s back in stock, LOL. I’m seriously obsessed…

  • Lauren

I became a Kat von D shadow junkie when I picked up the Starcrossed quad when it went on clearance at Sephora. I really WANT to love this palette, but it’s much to warm-toned for me, I think. I’d love to see one that had cooler neutrals.

  • Meg

I have most of the KVD palettes and definitely need to get this one! It is definitely one of my favorite makeup brands, the shadows are so worth it. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed with one of them!

  • Susan F.

I love how makeup can enlarge our world, vocabulary and knowledge. Heck, after I bought NARS Paramaribo I had to learn where it was! Who knew Makeup was Educational! ; )))))

    • Maggie

You know…I never thought of it that way but you’re totally right. The only reason I want to have some of the basics down for ANY of the European languages is so I can pronounce things in food, beauty, and music. It’s nice to be able to say the name of your new favorite dish, or perfume, or band.

Seriously considering adding this palette to my cart but I hate buying before previewing any swatches. I do want a matte palette and was previously considering the LORAC pro palette. Sigh….

  • Cindy Ramirez

Um, yes please? Matte eyeshadows are my favorite!

Very off topic sorta, but whenever I think of good matte shadows I always think of Sugarpill! Have you ever reviewed their products? I don’t recall seeing any!

  • amy

This is now available online. I got the email last night from Sephora stating it was back in stock!

  • Majick

I received this yesterday and am anxiously awaiting a break so I can do my eyes. The case is painted metal (mine had a minute scratch which ticked me off because I was then waiting for a shattered palette but the shadows were perfect. The pencil rattles around so it sounds broken LOL.

    I’ll report back:

Reporting back: LOL I couldnt’ stand it! I used Siouxsie Sioux, unrequited, and vespertin to do a quick eye. used SS basically as a liner and the other two for some definition.

OMGAWD! LOVE! – the three that I tried went on like butter. Highly pigmented, blendable, beautiful colors. THey are matte but do not appear chalky – at least these three.

If you have to choose between the LORAC GloGetter and this one you are going to be hard-pressed to pick.

GLoGetter has more COLOR with the mint and the turquise and blue. These colors are very hot this season but if you don’t like the blues then skip this one. This one actually is kind of sheer and the colors are a bit lighter than they appear BUT – I figured out that the pastel look everyone is wearing is this type of shadow. It looks pastel but doesn’t come off as chalky or easter eggy if you KWIM. You can layer the colors but they don’t get dark or muddy.

Ladybird is mostly neutrals, matte but also not chalky, and the colors are pretty warm. I have light to medium skin with yellow undertones and pink cheeks. I haven’t tried them yet but I read on Sephora that some of these colors are spectacular on hazel/green eyes.

I got this with my VIB 15% off and I got the LORAC with my F&F 20% off so I did really well. And, I don’t think I will return either one of them.

I just picked this up today in-store, and was still able to get the CW discount! The SA told me they’re not “technically” available until May, but she sold me one anyway. I haven’t played with it yet, but the colors are gorgeous!
