Sonia Kashuk Monochrome Eye Quad Spring 2013

If you’ve been busy Target shopping you know the new Sonia Kashuk Monochrome Eye Quad Eyeshadow Palettes are on shelves now. These are a revamp of the original Sonia Kashuk Eye Quad and might I say a great improvement.

For Spring 2013 these were released in four color variations. What makes them so special is the fact they contain a range of different finishes inside a single quad. It’s an unexpected treat to have such a smaller quad that caters to a variety of eyeshadow textures and finishes.

Let’s have a look!

The Sonia Kashuk Monochrome Eye Quad Eyeshadow Palettes ($13.69) come in the new black compact packaging. Sonia’s original packaging was a sterile white so this new black design gives it a little bit of a sophisticated modern edge.

Although near $14 might sound pricey for a quad there is a heaping dose of quality here to back up that price. Inside the quad you’ll find a matte, semi-matte with shimmer, sparkle, and velvet eyeshadow shade. I have the Textured Cocoa Quad and all the shades are basically the same exact shade of chocolatey brown but just have different finishes. I found it odd she didn’t decide to having graduating shades of the color but I don’t really mind so much because being a natural shadow girl I could find uses for different finishes of brown shadow easily enough!

The matte and semi matte formula is a little shy of patchy so I’d suggest a sponge applicator for application to get the smoothest finish. I absolutely adored the velvety shade. All the shades have excellent pigment but by far the best was the velvet shade. It also happened to be the creamiest and easiest to apply. The sparkle shade was a pleasant surprise as typically these act as an overcoat with no really color but the formula has improved some and you do get a fair bit of color and sparkle together. However, it does have a good deal of fall out so use a primer or some sort of base prior to application to avoid fall out and give the shade something to stick to. I find it is best suited as an overcoat to add a hint of sparkle.

I have to say the Monochrome Eye Quad is a very nice addition to the Sonia Kashuk Collection at Target. It’s a little expensive and I would say a $3 price shave rounding it out at $9.99 would make it a nicer budget beauty pick. But none the less the quality is here at this price tag!

I think that’s an amazing idea. When I find a color I really like, I would love to have it in different finishes. I am so excited for these!

I am loving those brown shades on you! Thanks to your reviews I’ve become quite a fan of Sonia Kashuk’s line at Target, but I have yet to try these quads – kind of been eyeing the taupe one, and this brown one is gorgeous too.

thanks hapa 😀 there’s also a rose one that’s gorg!

Ooh! I saw those and was tempted to get one over the weekend, but I decided to go with the natural eye contour pallette instead.

I like the look of a lot of the Sonia Kashuk palettes, but they’re just a bit expensive for my tastes. Almost Sephora prices (but, okay, not quite)! Still, this one looks to be great quality and I like the idea of the different finishes with one color.

Yay! I have been wanting to order a Nip & Fab product from Target but haven’t because I don’t wanna pay shipping for just one thing. Gotta be at least 2 things, I’m just weird that way 😀 So this will be in my cart and all systems are go. Thanks Musey! Love your eye look! 🙂

aw my pleasure joy! by the way Ulta carries nip fab too and they always have a little better shipping options than target if it helps ;-D Enjoy!

Sadly, the glycolic thing was not stocked at Ulta the last time I checked 🙁 Will check again. Appreciate the tip! 😀

It’s so funny that you bought Cocoa since that’s the only one I didn’t purchase! That said, I love the other three quads: Mauve, Rose and Taupe. Your review makes me kinda sorta want to go back and get Cocoa, too, although I really really don’t need it…

    • the Muse

YOU need it ;-D it’s really lovely and I must agree the Rose and the Mauve are amazing (don’t have the taupe but kinda want it).

  • Abryda

I just purchased the Textured Rose & am very happy with it, I have used her eyeshadows before & knew the quality would be there & she didn’t disappoint. This is such a nice palette.

I just bought Textured Mauve last week and it very quickly become my go-to palette in the morning (with a little bit of MAC’s sketch in the outer corner). I agree – the velvet textured shadow is the best, but they are all pretty amazing. I haven’t used the sparkle one yet, but I can tell by swatching that I probably won’t be using it much…it doesn’t have much colour but has a TON of fall out. Still glad I bought this though 🙂
