Clinique Sallowness SuperPrimer Face Primer

Clinique Sallowness SuperPrimer Face Primer is one of six new super face primers formulas that Clinique recently launched for Fall 2013. These new Superprimer Face Primers are formulated to act not only as a prep prior to makup but also are tinted for color correcting abilities as well.

Let’s take a look at the sallowness formula.

Clinique Sallowness SuperPrimer Face Primer is a light shade of light lavender to color correct a sallow complexion. If you suffer from sallowness you might have a yellow or brownish tinge to your skin that looks a bit duller or unhealthy. The softer lavender of this is used to correct lackluster skin and brightens it up creating a more even, fresher appearance.

Although I’ve already tried the Dullness formula and I don’t have yellow skin issues I can still do with the brightening and even whitening abilities of a lavender primer. I’ve used one in the past from different Asian brands and always liked how well they worked to brighten up my skin.

Prior to foundation you can apply a small amount of the primer to prep skin for other makeup. It has a soft creamy feel with a powdery velvet finish that I commonly associate with a silicone based primer. It does contain silicone polymers but it didn’t make me itchy nor does it feel uncomfortable on my skin after to applying. The primer provides a matte finish that doesn’t accentuate drier areas and supplies a smoother finish for makeup to adhere to resulting in extended foundation wear. It’ll blur the appearance of fine lines and fill and blur the appearance of larger pores as well.

I do feel the tint is a smidge too subtle for me so I’m not really seeing the correcting abilities from it. As a primer it does an excellent job prepping my face for makeup and allowing my foundation to wear fresher for a longer period of time. However, as a corrector I believe the pigment has to be upped a little to get the full correcting ability from it.

Overall, as a primer Clinique Sallowness Superprimer Face Primer works a great as a primer but you might feel that it’s a bit too subtle for correcting sallow complexion issues.

Which brand of color correcting primer (lavender) you feel works the best at correcting sallowness? You mention Asian brands, any recommendations? Thanks!

So, I just looked on Amazon and the Banila Co korean website and it seems like they stopped making the lavender prime primer? I only see Purity (green), Hydrating (silver bottle), Classic Matte (light green), Classic (white), and Natural (flesh-toned). Can you recommend another brand or maybe there’s a website where I can find the Banila Co lavender primer? Thanks!
