MAC Antonio Lopez Face Coral Palette 1

The MAC Antonio Lopez Face/Coral Palette ($46) is one of two new limited edition facial compacts that contains bronzer, blush, and highlighter. This collection is in collaboration with Illustrator, Antonio Lopez and will launch September 12th at MAC locations.

This style compact isn’t really new to MAC so I did find it a little uneventful however, the contents are quite lovely.

Take a peek!

MAC Antonio Lopez Face Coral Palette

MAC Antonio Lopez Face/Coral Palette has contains Star which is a lovely soft golden beige iridescent powder that’s quite sheer but lends a soft glow to skin. You also get a blush shade in Passion for Colour which is a silky shade of orange-y coral. This shade reminds me a little bit of Ripe for Love but it’s a bit on the lighter side yet still a very pretty coral color overall. And finally you get a Beauty Powder or in this case I think of it as a bronzer of sorts. This is Smooth Harmony which is a medium golden bronze but appears a muddier orange on my skin tone. You can use the shade to contour with if you desire.

MAC Antonio Lopez Face Coral Palette Swatches

This comes in a cleverly designed yet not new compact (MAC has used these compacts in prior collections). Inside the highlighter and blush are located on the top tier of the palette with a slide out tray that reveals the bronzer/beauty powder below. I found the palette a little tricky as it didn’t want to slide open to reveal the bottom tray at first. This could be just a fluke but it deserves mentioning just in case. It contains an illustration on the top face plate done by Antonio Lopez.

I loved the blush in this compact but overall, I disliked everything else which means the $46 isn’t really worth the indulgence for me personally….I can’t help but think of the many monster palettes I can haul at the moment that have SO much more that includes not only face products but also eye and even lip ones plus they are even cheaper.

Perhaps if the color scheme was a bit nicer I’d be more inclined to rave but as is…well…I think I’d recommend it as a no. The blush is lovely but I think you’ll find the shimmery highlighter and beauty powder you won’t make much use of!

Pass. The bronzer just looks too orange and paired with an orange blush is a no go for me.

This is cool and practical. Mary Kay makes a similar compact in which you can choose the colors that suit your skin, and enhance your beauty. Very clever, wish more companies would jump on these clever packaging/ marketing ideas!

When I saw this collection I was a little disappointed. I really don’t like the 80s feel of the design and the colors here are kind of meh. I too will pass.

Hmmm. This reminds me of a discontinued smashbox soft lights and blush set (cast/crew) that I used until I was scraping powder out of the corners. I am really tempted to grab this, but the price is a little high.

I like the concept and packaging, but wow does that bronzer look orange. The highlighter does look lovely though.
