Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler Still The Best

I purchased this item.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

After all these years the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler is still the very best eyelash curler this side of awesome. Yes, it’s still the Cadillac of all eyelash curlers!

So a little ode to Shu Uemura today…!

Best selling, award winning..them be words I look out for because typically that means a product is over hyped. Especially when it says “Allure” Best Of…hmm…..I’m skeptical by nature so anything that’s over promoted has me raising a brow Rock style.

But most of what you heard about the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler is probably true. The longer handles, the curved angle that fits the contour and angle of eyes perfect, the silicone pad that provides protective support while curling lashes upwards and out, and the lack of pinch are just some of the things to rave here.

Shu Uemura lash Curler

Shu recently updated the curler so now the silicone pad has a new mushroom shape that provides a protective, stay put edge that provides better curl to lashes.

Fact….

It’s still the best lash curler I ever did try and I continue to purchase it again and again and again.

What’s your favorite eyelash curler?

So true! I love this eyelash curler. I had one for 5+ years and used it until it broke even old it was the BEST curler I’ve had. I’ve tried to use others but they are really just not as good. I’ve tried the Lancome, Tarte, and Tweezerman. None of those are as good. I might have thought so if I hadn’t used the Shu first. I need to break down and order a new one online.

I’ve only ever used the shu, didn’t know they updated, guess it’s time to order a new one lol!

    • the Muse

they did…the new pad is a bit more dense than the softer one of the past, also means it lasts longer!

I used to LOVE my e.l.f. one, but they changed it and it isn’t as good. I got the Tarte holiday one last year and I like it. It still isn’t as good as the old e.l.f. one. I really think it just depends on your eye shape. The tarte performs perfectly, it just doesn’t fit my eye shape the same as the other one did, so I have to re-position it a couple times if I want the same effect. I’ll definitely look into the Shu one though!

    • the Muse

i agree it def the eye shape…I’ve always found that shu fits a wide array of eye types though ;-D def worth looking into 😀

I’ve been using the Tarte one that came with a larger sample size of Lights Camera Lashes last year (like the bling on this year’s more though!). I remember there was some debate about Shu vs. Kevin Aucion’s being better for oval-shaped eyes, but don’t remember which for which eye shape or even if it was true. I have those funky corner lashes that turn down and are impossible to get up with the rest of the upper lashes so the small one in the link would be good for my corners- love the doll you used as an example! I’ve always wanted a Shu! I gave up on cheapies after losing over half my lashes when curling with a dollar one years ago, and the outer half too!

i haven’t tried kevin’s but I heard really good things about it, curious minds how it is…I didn’t love the Lancome one at first (same sister company really) but turns out it is very much the same as Shu’s just the eye pad is a bit denser so it turned into kinda a fav of mine too but just finally settled on shu as I am most comfortable with it 😀

I haven’t bothered with a lash curlernin many, many years, but I never found one to be any better than another. Whether it was Maybelline, Revlon, Estee Lauder, or others, they were all completely interchangeable to me. I can’t imagine spending 3X more for a “luxury” brand when a DS one performs exactly the same.

      • amy

I’ve never had an issue with pinching. I simply stopped bothering with them due to the fact it was just an unnecessary step in my routine (mascara alone does the job).

        • the Muse

you’re lucky I always like to curl upwards prior to mascara for more drama!

        • Maggie

Yes, you’re extremely lucky. I have very straight lashes that slant down and I absolutely need a well-shaped curler with a good silicone pad on it for any chance of a curl staying. It doesn’t help that most mascaras out there like to straighten any curl I make. shu uemura’s curler has a nice pad and the shape of the curve (the part that fits against the eyelid helps prevent pinching and a nice fanned look for lashes).

  • Gillian

I agree 100%!!! I gave into the hype earlier this year, and am still beyond impressed. Everyone should own this eyelash curler. I will never go back!!! Thanks for reaffirming my feelings!

  • Nuria

I agree. I have Shu Uemura eyelash curler and it does wonders on my lashes. I’ll never even try any other eyelash curler since the result is already perfect.

  • Ryou

I thought you cheated with Koji Curving Eyelash Curler. Did you rekindle your old love? 😉

    • the Muse

i actually use the koji more often than I do the shu at times 🙂 but Shu def owns my heart, it’s a great curler! Just recently purchased a new one and decided to share the love on a blog post 🙂

  • Sara

I thought the Shu curler couldn’t get any better…. and then they released the S-curler! Omg, I love that to no ends, it’s even better to use if that’s even possible!

  • Patricia

Oh boy! I think now I’m doomed! I must get one of this… T’ve tried several different brands so far, but none of them impressed me.
I hope I don’t regret the big bucks in this “invesment”

  • Dianna

I saw your old review on the Shu curler, and went to their website to find out more information. I ended up getting the S curler because I liked how it had no sides. Every curler I’ve ever used (from drugstore to $30 versions) never reached my inner or outer corner lashes because my brow bone hit the sides of the curler. Figured the S curler was the way to go for me.

And it’s AWESOME! I get ALL my lashes. Granted, I have to curl in 3 sections (inner, middle, outer) because the curler is only about 1″ wide (maybe less), but it’s perfect for me. I will never ever ever own any other curler because nothing beats the S curler. NOTHING.

    (Thanks for the suggestion!)

  • Laura

Shiseido’s is my perfect curler! The Shu curler is great quality, but it didn’t fit my eye shape. Other curlers were worse…they didn’t even get close to the lashline or only curled the very center lashes. The Shiseido curler is a perfect fit for my eye shape.
