The Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette ($49) is a new eyeshadow palette that Too Faced is releasing for Spring 2014 which includes a mix of sixteen buttery soft eyeshadows infused with cocoa powder inspired by girl’s best friend, chocolate!

The Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette is a whimsical little palette that had me thinking of Willy Wonky and the Chocolate Factory when I got my hands on it. It comes in a cute box that’s shaped like a foil wrapped candy bar. Inside the palette is shaped like an actual chocolate bar! So it almost feels like you’re unwrapping an actual bar of chocolate! Cute right? The palette is made of a strong metal with a magnetic closure and a full size mirror. Too Faced also includes get the look cards with step by step instructions to create a few different looks using the palette.

I was surprised with the shadow formula a little as Too Faced revamped and tweaked the texture a bit with these. They still have that smooth, creamy consistency with a velvety, buttery texture but they also happen to be smoother, lighter, and the fall out is considerably less as well without any larger shimmer or glittery pieces. It seems like they refined and toned down the formula ever so slightly here and it’s an improvement as during application they seemed to apply and blend out a bit easier for me. I sometimes experience a bit of fall out with Too Faced’s shadow formula but these seem to have a thinner consistency which makes them apply with no mess. The texture is delightful to say the least and the shades apply and wear beautifully. Even without primer I saw no creasing and colors stayed true and intense through a ten hour wear. I ran across one shade that was a bit drier and had more shimmer than the others and that was Black Forest Truffle but aside from that I thought the other shades were excellent. They entire palette does smell like chocolate but I thought the scent was a little less stronger than the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer.

There are 7 matte shades in the palette and the other shades have a soft, satin shimmer. Both performed equally beautifully in terms of wear, application, and blending. You know how I feel about mattes but the mattes here are just as lovely as the satin shades. They have a soft, light texture that applies easily and builds up beautifully on lids. These aren’t chalky, dry mattes, they are however, soft, silky ones!
The palette is divided into both cool and warmer shades so you get a selection of colors that you’ll be able to use in warm or cooler looks. Although the warmer shades do dominate the palette there are some equally lovely cool shades for those who prefer them.
For my look below I used Hazelnut on the inner corner of my eye followed up with Glided Ganache blended into the outer crease and v with White Chocolate to highlight my brow bone and to blend out any harsh edges in my crease and finally Creme Brulee patted gently into the inner corner of my lid. I guess it’s my take on a smoky brown eye.
I’m quite eager to dig in and create a more natural look with the palette consider there are some very nice soft shades here as well to create more of a Rose Gold look. Marzipan is the perfect shade for this!
Overall, the Too Faced The Chocolate Bar Eye Palette is bound to be a treat for both makeup lovers of Too Faced fan girls and boys. It’s a great selection of shades you’ll likely use daily. The shades all go very well together as well so it takes much of the guess work out of creating looks using these colors.
If makeup was edible we’d all want a piece of this delicious chocolate bar!
