MAC Hautecore Lipstick for Black Friday 2013 Review & Swatches

MAC Hautecore Lipstick

MAC Hautecore Lipstick ($15) is launching for Black Friday on November 29th, 2013 at maccosmetics.com so if black lipstick is your deal darling here’s your chance to grab a unique shade of it.

MAC Hautecore Lipstick is what MAC calls a true matte black. I dunno if you remember last year’s MAC Grey Friday Lipstick but it turned into a wearable shade that was very versatile.

MAC Hautecore Lipstick isn’t as easy to wear for myself. I think Noel would rock it like a boss but I look like living dead girl with it on. It’s a darker black but it has cooler undertones to it with a creamy texture that isn’t dry or less than smooth on lips (even my drier lips which are chapped at the moment it took well!). It isn’t quite fully opaque as a single application and I could still see patches of my lip’s natural pigmentation so a few layers need to be applied for the best intensity and opacity. It does migrate and feather a bit…mind you I tested it while I was sitting behind my desk for a few hours and it seemed to like creeping over my upper lip line during that time.

You can actually apply it over or under other shades to intensify them or get a more vampy look. This especially works well with red lipsticks and glosses. Under red lipstick it’ll intensity the color and give a more vampy finish but I also noticed that it was messy to layer with and didn’t always have the best results and the shade would end up look less than smooth.

Black isn’t my personal shade of choice but I know dozens of people both online and in real life who could rock this hardcore and beyond. Unfortunately, that person isn’t me.

If you’re one of the few who looks incredible in black lipstick you’ll be happy to know the MAC Hautecore Lipstick will be online only at maccosmetics.com on Black Friday starting midnight for a limited time.

Hmm, I am curious about it but MAC lipsticks have never fared well on my skin. I prefer Illamasqua for nonstandard lip shades. Apocalips is dashing on me 😀

A part of me wants this, but then I remember how much I dislike the formulas of MAC lipstick… I may pick it up with the Punk Couture collection, as well as a couple of glosses that have caught my eye.

I would have also liked to have seen a picture of this actually on your lips; I saw it on another blog, and it looked kind of patchy.

      • Maddie

Yeah, where’s the picture of you with this lipstick on?!?! I would have liked to see that.

  • Jess

oh my god, I love black lipstick, and this one actually looks really pigmented; I’m def gonna pick one up!

This is like the Grey lipstick they did on Black Friday last year, I lusted over it knew I wouldn’t be able to get it. Womp womp.

PS Did I tell you I got hired at MAC?! I’m starting as on call/freelance… first day is Black Friday! HA.

Whenever you don’t post a picture of you wearing it, I know it must be bad lol!

Yay, Noel Fielding reference! Are you watching this series of Never Mind the Buzzcocks. It’s really not as good as it used to be. They need a permanent host.

I think I’ll skip this one. I love a dark lip and I’m always complaining to the girls at Sephora that all the purples end up looking like pinks and reds but I think I’m fine with purple and plum. Black is a bit much. 😉

yeah great show I always thought part of the fun was the guest presenters. It’s been nearly 7 years since they had a host I think it’s pretty much become the standard that a guest will host 🙂 Don’t feel bad black isn’t something I can wear either, plum maybe but not full on black!

I so want this, just like every other black lippie that comes down the pike. It didn’t look great when I was younger and now that I’m older…

…well, the confidence is there but hey, I know when I’m pressing the envelope. LOL

I just picked up night moth lip pencil which is really dark and I almost want to get this one to blend with other colors but I KNOW I’ll do it like one time and then move on.

I want it but I think I’ll pass…;-( (sucks gettin’ old)

hey Muse I was curious to see what you would look like with gothic black lipstick. It must be awful if you won’t post like you normally do!

  • Olivia

I love dark lipsticks so I think this would be a fun one to have- def not getting it though because I don’t *need* it!
