I admit prior to using it over nail polish I used Sephora Formula X for Sephora Holiday Ornament Effects Top Coat all over my nails. Granted, it’s a foiling overcoat but dude it looks so brilliant all over nails! It drenches your entire nail in chunky foiled pieces of solid sparkling gold!

Sephora Formula X for Sephora Holiday Ornament

I applied some of the shades from the Formula X For Sephora The Twenty-Two Gift Set ($55) to use as bases to foil with. Purple, Pink, Blue, even White looks amazing with the top coat over it! I didn’t photograph it but the top coat looks incredible over the new Urban Decay Zodiac Nail Color! ZOMG green with golden foil on top so gorgeous!

The top coat isn’t a thinner gel with suspended glitter, it’s actually more of a thicker polish formula which makes it easy to stroke on nails and layer for all over applications if you wish to use it as a nail polish. The foiling pieces range in larger to small pieces and have a beautiful gold sparkly finish. Needless to say it makes for an excellent Holiday nail look! It has some texture to it if you don’t see it with a glossy top coat and the wear is fairly excellent without chipping away.

I tried one of the Formula X polishes and I wasn’t impressed. I gave it to one of my daughters. I didn’t like the texture, either, or the color. I think I’ve just been spoiled by my Deborah Lippmann glitter polishes. (Across The Universe is divine!!) I wanted to love this new line but… no. I haz a sad… =(

Also, I think I need to use a better name when I comment on your posts because there are many “Cats” on the internet. I’ll go a little Prince and include a symbol to set myself apart… LOL
