L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner Review & Swatches

L'Oreal Silkissime Eyeliner

The new L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner belongs on my best drugstore eyeliner list I’d say as it is right up there with eyeliner greats like Urban Decay Perversion!

Take a look!

L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner ($8.99) is a new 16 hour wear eyeliner pencil available in four shades that is launching at drugstores now. According to L’Oreal the formula wears for 16 hours without smearing, fading, or flaking. It’s inspired by a liquid eyeliner but gives you the ease of application in a pencil.

L'Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner

It’s an incredible eyeliner pencil. I purchased it in Black Noir and it’s incredibly pigmented with a blacker than black finish. Waterlining this this is really great as it has a smooth, easy glide on this area and the color lasts for a solid five hours. On the lash like it has the same smooth, soft glide without tugging or skipping! It produces a beautifully lined eye with very little work as the color just glides on like butter. If you already own LOreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil I’d say the formulas are very much the same but the Silkissime is a touch more matte and not as glossy. I do think Urban Decay Black Velvet is considerably more matte in finish.

On my drier eyes it wears for a solid ten hours without fading, smearing, or flaking yet it still removes easily enough after the end of the day with my favorite oil based eye makeup remover!

L’Oreal calls it a silk inspired pencil…I suppose that’s somewhat accurate as it has a silky, powdery dry down.

I don’t if you necessarily need to purchase it if you already own the Extra Intense Liquid Pencil as the formulas are fairly similar. It is an excellent eyeliner pencil though and worth every single penny especially if you’re not interested in paying for Urban Decay’s Perversion Eyeliner or Black Velvet!

Muse Approved.

Available at drugstores now.

Oh I love the L’Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil!! Definitely going to have to try this when I can!

I bought the one called “highlighter” and it’s amazing! The packaging makes it look champagne, but it’s really a beautiful rose gold color! I would definitely compare it to the UD liners- great quality!

I was looking for that one but wasn’t lucky enough to find yet! It sounds lovely 😀

I have this in the plum and I really liked it. My only issue was when it wore down it was impossible for me to sharpen no matter if I used a cheapie or expensive sharpener. I’ll check back in a few weeks to see if anyone else has had that experience but other than that I adore the colors and the formulas.

I love this new eyeliner pencil, but the tip wears down really quick, I tried to sharpen it, messed up my $8.99 pencil. I have gone to several places looking for the “loreal dual sharpener” with NO luck. I cannot and will not keep purchasing it if I can’t sharpen it and use ALL my product!

Sounds like it could replace my love for Marc Jacobs gel pencil liner! Is it the retractable type or requires sharpening? Would you have any recommendations for retractable liners that would compare to the Marc Jacobs liner?

I have the rose gold one too and it’s a great inner corner highlight. I found mind at Ulta.

I have this pencil in Charcoal, and it’s wonderful. I have found the trick to sharpening soft-tipped pencils like this is to put it in the freezer for at least two hours beforehand, then use a high-quality, extra-sharp sharpener like Urban Decay Grindhouse. Works like a charm!

I bought the one in “highlighter” but after the tip wore down how do u sharpen that thing???

  • Jessica

I just picked two of these up at Ulta yesterday after reading about how much you like them and OH. My. GOODNESS. Where have these been all my life?! These are SO GREAT. I did a simple eye look today – tried out a very basic copper creme eyeshadow and then did a thick, “cat-eye-like” liner with the Silkissime pencil in Cobalt. It’s still on perfectly 9 hours later, and I even had a one-hour “mild sweat session” in the middle (a dance class)! I’m buying every color. 😛

Thanks you for all the reviews you do. I probably would never have discovered these were it not for your review. They would have remained lost in the sea of “who-knows-whether-that-works-but-do-I-feel-like-risking-the-disappointment?” drugstore makeup products!!!!

Yay so glad you like Jessica! 🙂 My pleasure I’m so glad you liked them!!!!!!!!!!!!
