L’Oreal Anti-Redness Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Review & Swatches

L’Oreal Anti-Redness Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

LOreal Anti-Redness Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream is one of two new correcting “BB Cream” formulas that L’Oreal recently introduced to the US market for Fall 2014 that will be a permanent part of the Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Collection (these launched in the UK several months ago so they aren’t a new product merely new to our market).

I think “BB Cream” is a little misleading as these are more of a correcting primer of sorts as they do not offer any coverage merely prep skin for makeup. The LOreal Anti-Redness Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream was created to ease redness and even out skin tone.

Shall we take a look?

I don’t actually suffer from redness myself but reader’s had requested swatches of LOreal Anti-Redness Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream so I did purchase it to swatch and give my thoughts on it.

It’s a funny thing about this formula as I actually used it and liked it. Where as the LOreal Anti-Fatigue Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream and original Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream formula was just TOO orange to do much of anything for my skin tone, the Anti-Redness formula actually morphs to a lighter beige orange that brightens up my dullness a bit.

The formula starts off life as a mint green shade, it kinda reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream since it has tiny flecks of color adjusting pigments amidst the green. As you apply it the shade morphs and supposedly “adjusts” to your skin tone. It worked great for me as the color changed to a lighter beige with slight orange undertones. I noticed it brightens up my face ever so slightly and eased my dullness a little bit. If you skin is already fairly good sans blemishes or any other issues this is actually a very light coverage that will brighten and give your skin a little boost for a natural look sans foundation. The creamy yet runny texture is lightly hydrating and absorbs easily into my skin.

However, in my opinion even though with slightly red cheeks likely won’t find this eases redness well and it definitely won’t do much for extreme redness or ruddiness. If you have slight redness it might be fitting as a primer prior to foundation or BB Cream the lighter coverage it offers might be a good companion along with your foundation. However, on its own I am doubtful it’ll do well with redness.

Funny isn’t it that LOreal Anti-Redness Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream actually works better for me than the other formulas and I don’t even have issues with redness!

LOreal Anti-Redness Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream isn’t an essential item but if you’re curious you might want to try it our as a primer of sorts prior to your regular foundation application but only if you find it on sale!

I purchased this item.

The color and consistency of this remind me of the Stila CC Cream. The fair version of that is also runny and comes out a greenish color until it adjusts. I liked it, but it was too expensive. I’ll give this a try instead.

Thanks for reviewing this! I’ve been looking into green primers and haven’t seen anything on this one yet 🙂

I’m always looking for a drugstore replacement for my MAC Prep + Prime CC Colour Corrector in Neutralize because it’s the only product I’ve ever used that actually “corrects” the redness I have in my cheeks. I’ve tried numerous green tinted products but sadly they did nothing but leave a green tint to my skin.

Same here, Tracy! According to the color wheel, green is supposed to cancel out red, but I have always found a soft lemony yellow (think the shade of Benefit Lemon Aid) works much better on me. I’m am extremely fair with pink cheeks and I typically use a neutral foundation to “correct” that. Cool foundations are too pink and Warm foundations are too yellow and too dark for me. I wish there were more truly neutral options, especially at the drugstore!

Purminerals has a really good one that I tested at my local Ulta. It neutralized the slight redness I have in my cheeks without leaving that horrid green undercast. I definitely want to try this one as a much cheaper alternative though.

Darn, I was hoping this would go better! I’ll check out the ones people have mentioned in the comments though.

I’m 53 and suffer from rosacea. I’m respectfully disagreeing with you! LOL After seeing another review on this where it worked very well, I bought it. I am a big It Cosmetics fan and this worked better on me than either the CC cream or their anti-redness cream. The price is great and my son works at Walgreens so I get a discount! I’m just not sure if I would you is in place of Moisture Blur, under it or over it.

I’m happy to hear it worked for you Rebecca! it seemed a touch too sheer to tackle something like rosacea! I’m surprised! Just glad it worked for you 😀

Well I do have rosacea and I was soooo clear with a few marks but nothing I couldnt hide with foundation.. Well I heard of this green tint thing so I tried it and well it just flamed up my forehead and my face allll over again. Now I do not know how to fix this flare up but I have rosacea badly before i bought this cream i was well on my way to looking normal again and accepting it. but now I want to hide. I am washing with chamomile tea and do not wish to use this cream any further , if it continues to leave a burning feeling I am out. but good luck to everyone else.!

just wondering why i had that burning feeling? is this normal? did i have an allergic reaction to it? don’t know but i wont use it for along time till i get my face back!

Crystal – I have rosacea too, and I just found out I am highly allergic to Methylchloroisothaizolinone (MCI/MI) It is in make up, hair color, shampoo, soap, laundry detergent etc. I just bought the same product today and hope that I don’t flare up. You might want to get your dermatologist to do an environmental test to see if you are allergic to something that you use everyday. Mine only improves with steroids, and I’m not taking those forever. I see you use chamomile tea – I am going to try that to ease the redness.

I have been using the BB cream for about 6 weeks. The product works well in clearing up some rosacea type areas I have. However, I have snow white hair and it seems to be getting more and more yellow over the period of time I have been using it. I read other reviews where the product has turned some users face yellow and some claim orange. I am beginning to think I am correct in considering this may be the issue with my hair turning yellow. Any thoughts or comments?
