Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Shampoo Review

Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Shampoo

Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Shampoo was of course, added to my collection after trying the Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Conditioner and Leave in Conditioner because you obviously can’t have those without the shampoo right?

As someone who isn’t big on vanilla I must say I have positively fallen in love with this product and I should bring to your attention that both the shampoo and conditioner pair up wonderfully well with Stila Creme Bouquet or Lush Vanillary Perfume if you own either (plus if you love those two perfumes, you’re BOUND to love Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla’s fragrance)!

Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Shampoo is a sulfate-free formula formulated for dry, dull, or brittle hair. I fall into the dry category but not sure I qualify for the dull or brittle hair one but lord knows you’d have to pry this stuff out of my cold, dead hands before telling me you’ll take it away because it isn’t suitable for my hair type! It just smells that stupid incredible.

As I mentioned above the scent quite reminds me of the rich, creamy vanilla that you can get from Stila Creme Bouquet or Lush Vanillary. It’s a very smooth, creamy, sexy vanilla with a touch of cake to it but not so much that it sweetens the blend as this one is all about sexy! As I said I don’t really love vanilla scents but this is positively addicting and has an incredible fragrance that gives off an excellent throw and linger on its own and particularly when paired up with other pieces in the collection.

The formula is thinner and doesn’t create an intense lather but still gets hair squeaky clean. I noticed some dryness as I rinsed when used on its own without following up with conditioner. But it does rinse clean away and my hair is smooth once I comb through it so that dryness is apparently in shower experience! It’s also the type of lighter shampoo that won’t build up very easily in hair or weight it down so after use hair is clean but not heavy after use. It’s marketed as color safe and adds a nice bit of shine to my hair but I wouldn’t say loads of moisture or hydration if I don’t pair it with the conditioner after washing!

I wouldn’t call it my favorite shampoo formula in all honesty but paired with the conditioner and used as a set it is the yummiest smelling one I own that’s for sure. I really like how the duo, used together, adds moisture to my hair as well as keeps frizz in order and refines my curls and waves so they are looser and softer!

Now if I can just get the brand to launch this in a perfume I’d be one happy girl!

Ahh!! I ran out to snag the leave-in conditioner after I read your review like a week ago, seeing as how I’m a huge vanilla fan and I was happy to try something other than my usual Aveeno leave-in condish. Happily, I found it on sale at Target, along with the shampoo and conditioner! Hooray! The shampoo and leave-in condish are both $9 and the regular conditioner is like $10.25 or something. I went by the other day to snag backups and they’re still cheap! I have to admit that I was a little worried after reading all the stuff about it being targeted for dry/damaged/brittle hair, seeing as how mine is pretty oily and my strands are fine, but I was pleasantly surprised! I’ve been using the shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner daily for the past week and I love it! My hair actually feels less oily by the end of the day than it usually did before I started using these. And OMG, I can’t stop sniffing my damn hair! I’ve considered on several occasions spritzing the leave-in conditioner on my body like a perfume…but I refrained. She needs to release a body mist, STAT! For serious though, I blame you for this madness! Now I’m going to have to check out that Stila perfume, because Vanillary refuses to linger for more than 20 minutes on me… Sad sigh. 🙁

I haven’t used a Carol’s Daughter shampoo or conditioner in a long time. I was thinking about adding the Rosemary Mint back into my rotation. We shall see. Been on the Wen kick for so long I’m iffy on using something else to wash my hair with. Let’s see what ends up in my cart when I go to Target. *shifty eyes*

it looks like they axed the rosemary mint as only the shampoo is currently available! I hope it’s just a stock issue!

ZOMG GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!! I adore vanilla scents, especially the less sweet more clean/powdery/baked kind – my signature scent is Amour by Kenzo (I go through a couple bottles a year)……and now I have to hunt this down too and hope I can get it shipped to Aussie LOL.
