MAC Marge’s Extra Ingredients

The MAC Marges Extra Ingredients Eyeshadow Quad ($44) is one of two very limited edition eyeshadow palettes that will be available with the upcoming MAC The Simpsons Makeup Collection launching shortly.

Shall we have a look see?

I’m not really a massive Simpsons fan in all honesty. I appreciate them, I’ve watched more than one episode, but I don’t think I’m a huge follower of the characters. But I can see this collection from MAC attracting not only fans of the Simpsons but any makeup lover who just appreciates unique packaging.

The focus point of the MAC Simpsons Collection is in fact Marge with much of the packaging feature a little peek-a-book image of the upper half of her head and eyes on all the compacts, lipglasses, etc…..and of course, bright yellow packaging to go along with it all. But even though Marge remains a focus point of the collection many, many of the other characters make an appearance here as well with a box that’s a kaleidoscope of faces from the Simpsons universe against a bright yellow background.

MAC Marge’s Extra Ingredients Palette

The MAC Marges Extra Ingredients Eyeshadow Quad, don’t you love that name? Includes four shades of eyeshadow in a slim line palette much like we’ve seen from the Hello Kitty Collection and many other past MAC collaborations.

Honestly, I prefer the greens in That Trillion Dollar Look Quad which is also part of this collection compare to the ones in Marges Extra Ingredients Eyeshadow Quad but that’s just a personal choice. This is a round of bright purple and blue compared with a softer pink and a very deep navy eyeshadow. I dunno if it necessarily reminds me of Marge but each shadow does feature an embossment of her fluttering lashes.

Shades include:

  • Harpooned Heart
  • Sexy PB&J
  • Beehive Blue
  • Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag

I think the palette performed well overall with a few hiccups. The shadows have a smooth, pigmented texture with an easy to apply formula. Out of the four shades I think Harpooned Heart was the shade that was the sheerer but still built very well where as Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag was a little dry and dense but not difficult to work with. The shades are packed well so there’s very little fall out or dust up when a brush is run through them. They are true MAC shades in performance, pigment, and formula. I find some of these quads sometimes disappoint me but I think on a whole this one was fairly well formulated!

As I mentioned above I do prefer the other palette in this collection but if you like cooler yet stronger shades of color I imagine that the MAC Marges Extra Ingredients Eyeshadow Quad is going to easily gain a spot in your collection.

The MAC Simpsons Collection launches September 4th on counters but I have a funny feeling you’ll see it online this week maybe around Thursday online at maccosmetics.com.
