Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Stage Blood is single note limited edition Halloween 2014 Perfume Oil that recently launched at the Lab.
I read a few reviews on Stage Blood and I also talked to a few people on forum who swore to the perfume oil gods that this was straight up cherry candy goodness. To say I was excited was an understatement since I really like candy, sweet, fruity perfumes!
On my body chemistry….well, there’s not cherry!
I expected this to be a single note perfume oils so something straight up easy to understand when my nose sniffed it. Something I’d instantly know of, something that my nose would recognize. For a single note blend this is a complicated fragrance.
In the bottle a little bit of cherry mixed with dragon’s blood…..here’s where things get complicated. Dragon’s blood is a unique, complex, and difficult to explain fragrance. I personally don’t like the smell of it but there are many, many fans of it. I had hopes since a few people reviewed this on forum describing it as a cherry candy fragrance but for me it’s all Dragon’s blood. Dragon’s blood has softer floral notes like rose, jasmine, and lilac but it also has stronger notes of amber, incense, and patchouli which my body chemistry (and my nose) do not like. As soon as this touches my skin it’s straight dragon’s blood and as it dries down it’s a lot incense….kinda reminds me walking into one of those specialty shops at the mall that sell dream catchers, skulls, and crystals. It’s a whole lot incense-y on my skin to the point it makes me curl up my nose in disgust. Mind you it isn’t stinky hippie so you aren’t getting a strong patchouli note…it’s lightly floral with a golden warm amber note to it…
I don’t like it….this isn’t to say you won’t! Since most of my reviews of the BPAL Halloweenies have been about candy or some other Fall-like fragrance with apples and caramel, etc…this takes a different route…this brings more of an earthy fragrance to the table.
Those who like amber and dragon’s blood are sure to love Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Stage Blood!
