Too Faced La Belle Carousel Review & Swatches
The Too Faced La Belle Carousel ($49) is a limited edition palette collection that launched with the Too Faced Holiday 2014 Collection and likely one of the cutest makeup palettes you’ll come across this holiday season!
Too Faced always does a great job with their Holiday offerings and I have to say I was just so delighted with the La Belle Carousel as it’ll really make a unique gift for a makeup lover in your life.
The Too Faced La Belle Carousel is broken down into five slim palettes each of which features either four eyeshadows or two face powders. In total the set includes 12 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 2 bronzers, and a travel-sized Better than Sex Mascara (review) as well as a how to get the look guide to create several looks using the products from the gift set!
The makeup palette was actually created to be split apart and given as gifts to friends as each palette features a to: and a from: tag located on the back so you can gift these or stick them in stockings, etc…or of course, if you’re as greedy as I am just keep the entire thing for yourself. There are two things that deserve mentioning about the packaging though. It can be a little bulky if you end up keeping it for yourself as the cute carousel design, if you want to keep it intact, does take up a good deal of space. Broken down the palettes don’t stack easily as the lids are a touch bigger than the backs so they are a bit uneven and don’t stack as easily as I would like them too. Of course, I think a lot gets taken away from the overall look and cuteness of the set if you take it apart so I’ll likely keep it intact but again, it is a little bit of an issue to store easily due to the design.
Aside from that I think everything else about the palette was incredible. The shadows are super pigmented, apply well, and wear incredibly intense and beautifully. One thing to take note of is some of the shades are glitter bombs so there is a good deal of fall out during application so have some eyeshadow primer ready and a brush or tape to clean up any fall out as you apply. If you aren’t a sparkle lover you might want to skip out on this as many of the colors have a good deal of shimmer or have a foiled, metallic look on eyes. Pigment is crazy in some of these shades and the color pay off is intense and gorgeous to say the least. Too Faced did NOT skimp on anything when creating this set. The bronzers and blushes are just as beautiful! One of my favorite shades of Too Faced Blush comes in this set, Who’s Your Poppy? This is such a gorgeous golden corally orange! The shades of the blushes and bronzers are just as intense and beautiful as the shadows themselves.
All in all its a selection of beautiful, quality makeup with fantastic pigmentation! I do think that some of the shades are reruns so you might want to check your Too Faced stash for dupes as some of the shades seem to be renamed but look very similar to colors I already own.
