Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Review & Swatches
Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix is a new foundation stick or “instant skin retoucher” as Revlon dubs it that’s launching in drugstores. This is kinda a hybrid formula that takes on Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Stick and pairs it up with products like Tarte Colored Clay CC Primer as it can be used as a foundation or a primer!
Take a look!
Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix is a super lightweight foundation stick with a satiny matte finish available in several shades. This is likely a permanent product launch for Revlon so if you haven’t yet found it, no worries, I’m sure it’ll get a bigger push as we near Spring 2015 releases. I purchased it for $11.79 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond so check there and at Harmons.
The drugstore world is kinda lacking in foundation sticks and since they are such an easy product to use it’s nice when one is released like Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix which has a nice, easy to wear formula. I used to be a major fan of Benefit Playsticks but my skin has changed considerably and I couldn’t use them much anymore as I started to notice they’d cling to my drier areas! Sadness!
Needless to say foundation sticks are just easy. They are such a no brainer swipe and blend application that needs little work to apply and use. I like lightweight coverage that’s subtle, natural, yet pigmented enough to ease dullness and brighten my skin and that’s exactly the type of coverage Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix offers. These are slightly dry so if you have oily skin you’ll get on well with them. If you’re like me, dry, you’ll want to prep up well prior to application! I used NYX Honey Dew Me prior to add a little more moisture to my skin for an easier glide and blend out.

The formula isn’t terribly pigmented but it has enough color to hide mild redness, some darkness, perhaps light acne, and of course, dullness. I find the texture a bit on the dry side so not really creamy in the least and not as satiny or silky as Maybelline’s Fit Me Stick. The consistency is thicker than the Fit Me Stick and has a more seamless look once applied to skin. It probably makes little sense but once applied the coverage almost looks skin-like in finish. I find it brightens up my skin very nicely, eases dullness, and gives me a focused, refined finish.
It kinda reminds me of Tarte’s CC Primer in some ways because if you want you can use it under your regular foundation to prep so if you desire more coverage than this provides just use it before following up with your regular foundation of choice which might have more coverage!
It’s very subtle, lightweight coverage so don’t expect an industry foundation stick here. If you already have good skin, you’ll find that the Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix will enhance your own natural skin. Coverage wear is around four hours, I haven’t been able to get it to wear longer on my skin.
All in all for quickie, lightweight, and comfortable coverage this little stick is quite nice. You’re either going to love this one or not! Personally you can put me in the “I like it a lot” category!
