Shiseido Maquillage Essence Glamour Rouge Neo Review & Swatches
I recently purchased Shiseido Maquillage Essence Glamour Rouge Neo in OR241 which is a limited edition shade that recently launched in Japan. I actually own a few shades of the original Shiseido Maquillage Essence Glamour Rouge formula and love it.
But I must say Shiseido Maquillage Essence Glamour Rouge Neo doesn’t feel much different to me than the original formula but hey, that’s a good thing I guess because I like that formula anyway!
Shiseido Maquillage Essence Glamour Rouge Neo apparently sports a lip serum that hydrates lips and seals moisture in. That’s believable consider the gel-like texture is very soothing and comforting on my drier lips.
The marketing on the original launch of this formula was that the colors were supposed to be a perfectly natural shade for your skin tone. OR-241 runs on the sheerer side and doesn’t necessarily provide a my lips but better natural, nude lip look but it’s lovely none the less.

The gloss comes housed in a rounded diamond shaped tube just like the original and sports a soft, fuzz large sponge applicator that fits lips well and saturates well with color. The formula is very, very hydrating with a lightweight texture that isn’t sticky or tacky and wears for around five hours. It has a nice shiny finish on my lips and gives them a plushy finish and look. The color is sheerer but provides just enough pigment to enhance my lip color. The gloss formula has a thicker gel consistency that feels balmy on the initial application but thins out as you apply. I notice a very faint, subtle citrus flavor but it was very faint.
If you’re looking to explore Japanese lipglosses you can’t get any better than Shiseido Maquillage Essence Glamour Rouge Neo! It’s a gorgeous formula and testimony to the greatness of Asian makeup and beauty.
