MAC Smoky Black Friday Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trio Review & Swatches
MAC Smoky Black Friday Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trio ($25) is an online exclusive eyeshadow palette MAC launched for Black Friday 2014. I’m a little late with this review but it is still up and available on MAC’s website so if you enjoy the review and swatches you can still grab this one up!
MAC launches this as a brand only online exclusive as they did with past Black Friday Collections. If you were hoping for a lipsticks like year’s past it might have disappointed you that this year they went with an eyeshadow. Typically I love the Veluxe Pearlfushion Shadow formula so I was quite ok with this launch.
MAC Smoky Black Friday Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trio was actually disappointing for me. Originall the Pearlfusion Eyesahdow Palettes launched in the Summer of 2013 in several shade variations which contained five strips of color each. This particularly shade is only a trio and contains three colors obviously.
I was actually very impressed the first time I reviewed these but didn’t really like the Smoky Black Friday color pay off so I do think it’s a skip. The formula is beautiful and if you’re a fond fan of Japanese brands such as Kate or Majolica Majorca you’re quite familiar with the soft, creamy textured powder that the Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palettes have!

I always felt like the original palettes reminded me of Milani Runway Eyeshadow Palettes in design. The trio is considerably smaller and quite cute but I prefer the five colors versus the three in all honesty. The shimmery satiny shades are so easy enough to work with but they have major fall out issues so a good cream base will benefit you during application. They are most comparable in texture to Japanese eyeshadows in my humblest or if you’ve tried the Too Faced The Return to Sexy Eyeshadow Palette that’s quite the same texture as this trio!
Many shades I’ve tried in the past were sheer yet buildable but Smoky Black Friday seems considerably less pigmented than all the shades I’ve own. I really get very sheer color pay off f and found it quite disappointing. Even when building with a sponge tipped applicator I still experienced problems with getting colors to show up well on my lids.
Sad sigh!
At $25 I’d actually prefer paying $40 for the larger five pan palettes. MAC Smoky Black Friday Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow Trio is special and unique because it is a Black Friday only one off release however, it obviously didn’t do that well considering it is still in stock on MAC’s website. For MAC fans it’ll likely be a must have but personally I thought it was disappointingly sheer!
Sorry MAC!
