Physicians Formula Super CC Color Correction + Care CC Compact Cream Review & Swatches

Physicians Formula Super CC Color Correction Compact Cream

Physicians Formula Super CC Color Correction + Care CC Compact Cream ($14.95) is a new cream foundation launching for Spring 2015 in two shade selections. I don’t technically like cream foundation but with Winter here it’s always a welcome relief on drier skin so I decided to check this out.

As with all the CC Color Correction products from Physicians Formula it contains color correcting pigments that act to correct uneven skin tones and discolorations while evening out skin tone.

Take a look!

Physicians Formula Super CC Color Correction + Care CC Compact Cream comes housed in a double compartment chunky compact that features the cream foundation on the top and the mirror and sponge applicator located on the top.

Supposedly this contains color correcting pigments including yellow which acts to warm your skin tone, green that eases redness, and pink to brighten and illuminate. Unlike other CC Color Correction products you can’t actually visibly see the color correcting pigments as in past products they appeared as small little dots of color that were spattered throughout the product. Personally I don’t really need to warm my skin up and I don’t have any redness that needs correctly so I find the color correcting pigments aren’t really something that benefit my particularly skin type and tone. I also thought in past products that these pigments appeared as such a small amount that even if you have need of their correcting benefits they might not work for you.

On the upside I think the formula works quite well to ease dullness and create a brighter appearance. I don’t think it’ll necessarily diffuse the look of redness but there’s enough pigment in this formula that it should be able to conceal minor redness.

The formula is a very slick, emollient thinly textured cream foundation that applies easily and blends out just as easily. It’s very hydrating and has a dewy finish that won’t necessarily agree with oily skin types. Coverage ranges from sheer to semi-medium and wears for around three hours if you don’t set with powder but will wear at around six hours when set with powder. The texture is very agreeable to my drier skin as it doesn’t cling to flaky, drier or rougher areas on my cheeks and has a smooth, even appearance. I liked how it brightens up my entire complexion and creates a very flawless base for color cosmetics. I’m not particularly impressed with how emollient it is but it’s a lot less thicker than cream foundations I’ve tried in the past which is a plus as it doesn’t give me a mask-like feel and wears very lightweight and comfortable. I don’t really set my foundation with powder so this is kinda disappointing for me in regards to the shorter wear which is around 3 hours without powder.

If you’re a lover of cream foundations and have drier skin Physicians Formula Super CC Color Correction + Care CC Compact Cream might be a good pick up on sale. However, the shorter wear time without powder makes it a tad disappointing for me.

Anyone try it?

Girl you just keep blowing my mind with all these new drugstore brand products.. And lemmie tell ya, I love me some cream foundations in compacts… I use to use this great Revlon one years ago but sadly was discontinued and nothings come close to it since… I will totally try this in addition to the new balm stick even tho I absolutely do not need any more face make up whatsoever!

Oh yeah.. random thoughts.. but I like all the new stick formulas that are coming out.. I remember being a teenager in highschool and using them.. then they disappeared off the market and haven’t been seen in years (at least not to me since I only did drugstore brands up until I got into sephora 3 years ago….)

haha so many good things coming out right? same here, I have enough foundation to last three life times lol! 😀 but hey if you can get a bogo why not right? me too!!!!!!!!!!! totally used benefit play sticks in high school! 😀 I find the wear shorter but I love how they look on! Sticks are just so easy to apply, swipe and go 😀 I hope you like the PF one. Did you try the revlon one?!

  • Lacy

I tried the benefit play sticks but they never worked for me! I could never find a color that worked.. even the lightest color was too dark! But yes I love how the look and the ease of application and they’re just fun and great to throw in your purse too or keep in your desk for quick touch ups. I have yet to try the PF one, I haven’t been able to find it around here yet and I need it in my life and stat! I did however find the revlon one and it’s actually really good from what i’ve experienced. I like it a lot more than the maybelline fit me ones… Those tend to look too powdery on me for some reason when in my skintone.. but I do use one of the darkest colors to contour my cheeks and it’s awesome.. weird right. But yeah I’m on the hunt for the pf one. It seriously looks like it’s going to be my HG! I’m hoping Ulta has it as I’ll have a chance to stop in one tomorrow with a 20% off nonetheless woot woot! The closest one to me is 45 mins away.. but I have training for work out of town tomorrow afternoon and will be close enough to make a detour at another one that’s an hour away. Cross your fingers for me… PS I think at Ulta i’m going to haul the Smashbox on the rocks liner set… 20% off plus a free try it all on eyes kit hells to the yeah.. Have you or are you going to indulge in the set? $39 for 5 full size always sharp liners with 2 limited colors vs the $20 for one… I’m game. I love the always sharps 🙂 And I think i might pick up the Ulta contour kit.. it’s extremely similar to the anatasa bev hills but for a fraction of the price.. I figure hey why not

I think I had a light shade that really didn’t work for me either but still wore it lol! I hope you find the PF one soon! I liked the revlon one too, shorter wear time but still very nice for quickie, natural foundation! I didn’t the 20% off at ulta boooo! 🙁 I only got the on the Rocks Palette but the liners..! prob gonna skip out on that one let me know how it is? Essence has a new contour palette as well, super cheap ya never know might be good 😀 Happy Shopping!

I love the On The Rocks liners… you get the run of the mill black and brown, which we can never have too many of the staples right?! but the blue shade Midnight which is one of the limited is a pretty royal/navyish blue color, Makes brown eyes pop… the 3d orchid is absolutely gorgeous and the silver/charcoal 3d night gem which is the other limited is my favorite. It’s not too dark where it looks black but is the perfect metal color and not too light to be mistaken for silver. And different enough from the normal gunmetal shade. The shimmer/glitter in it is to die for! It’s iridescent and really draws your eyes in. How’s the on the rocks palette? Do you have swatches to check out?!

    • Isabella Muse

they sound nice! gonna check them out in stores before they disappear. I don’t, I didn’t swatch or review, time got away from me this year and I’m still working on holiday reviews ugh! horrible 😀

Can you do a comparison to the Physicians Formula’s bb cream compact? Or have you tried it already? Do you think this is better than the bb cream compact?

  • red rogue

Can you please tell how and with what brush you apply this product? Would love to hear your advice! Thank you!

    • Isabella Muse

i use my fingers and tap a little on the sides of my nose and blend outwards. Or you can use a sponge to smooth it on or a fibre brush to buff it gently into your skin!
