Sephora + Pantone Universe Pure Marsala Matte Lip Creme Lipstick Review & Swatches
Sephora + Pantone Universe Pure Marsala Matte Lip Creme is a new, limited edition lipstick launching with the Sephora 2015 Color of the Year Capsule Collection.
You’re going to want this one.
Sephora + Pantone Universe Pure Marsala Matte Lip Creme Lipstick is a rich, gorgeous shade of brown based wine. This is a shade that’s testimony of how elegant and gorgeous the Pantone Color of the Year, Marsala, can be. It’s simply stunning color that should look amazing on a wide range of different skin tones. I’m actually kinda wishing back Fall as this is the perfect shade of autumn lipstick for me.
The shade comes housed in a elegant rose gold mirrored square barrel tube. It’s actually very lightweight when compared to Sephora Pantone Lipsticks that have launched in the past. As I recall the Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year Creme Lipstick came housed in a very heavy, luxe case. I don’t mind the lighter packaging but I thought the change deserved mentioning. The oute box packaging is just as lovely as the lipstick it holds. The box is a ombre design featuring the marsala shade on the bottom gradating into a lighter rose gold towards the top. The lipstick itself seems to be suspended in thin air as they used a sort of strong cling wrap to hold the lipstick in the box.

As always Sephora did an outstanding job. The Pantone Collections from the last several years have all been outstanding in packaging and quality of formula and the Sephora + Pantone Universe Pure Marsala Matte Lip Creme Lipstick is testimony to that.
This lipstick is rich, creamy, and has a pigmented opaque finish on the first application. It applies with a creamy smooth, flawless finish sans sparkle or shimmer. I wouldn’t say it’s a true matte as it feels quite hydrating on my lips and lacks the velvety finish of a matte! It’s more of a cream to me and I’m grateful for that as it wears very, very comfortable without migrating. Color remains fresh and intense for about five hours before fading slightly at hour six. It’s not hydrating but it isn’t drying either and I did not notice a flavor or fragrance in the formula.
Apparently it contains Resveratrol with is a common product find in Bite Beauty Lipsticks and is apparently a great anti-aging ingredient.
I’m very, very pleased with the presentation of the lipstick and the incredible formula. When Sephora sets out to do good makeup, well, they DO good makeup and the Sephora + Pantone Universe Pure Marsala Matte Lip Creme Lipstick is a showcase for great makeup.
Love this.
The Sephora + Pantone Universe Pure Marsala Matte Lip Creme Lipstick launches Boxing Day, December 26th, at Sephora.com.
