Tarte Tartelette Palette

The Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette ($44) is a new palette for Spring 2015 that contains 12 all matte eyeshadows. Yes, all matte. The best part about the Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette is the fact it will be available as part of the Tarte permanent collection unlike the limited edition release of the Tarte Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Eye & Cheek Palette!

Take a look!

Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette

Tarte released the Tarte Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Eye & Cheek Palette for Spring 2014 which was a complete face palette that includes blush as well as eyeshadow. As much as I like a completely face palette I actually was quite excited that the Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette was all about eyeshadow and nothing more. And yes, I was even excited it was all about MATTE eyeshadow even though I’m not one for reveling in the finish!

Tarte Tartelette Eyeshadow Palette

The Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette obviously celebrates the Tarte fandom as they refer to lovers of the brand as “Tartelettes” kinda cute right? It comes housed in a purple and gold mirrored compact that’s a little smaller than a CD. It has a generously sized full size mirror inside and is perfect for travel should you wish to have 12 easy to wear matte eyeshadows while away. Inside the box you’ll also find a small card with simple to follow instructions to create two looks using the palette.

Tarte Tartelette looks

From what I can see the palette is arranged in three quads of eyeshadows. So each row across has shades that will compliment each other in a single look which takes the guess work out of mixing and matching shades. Of course, you can use any shade in any combination you like but I appreciate the rows of shades that contrast and work well together.

I mentioned about I’m not a matte fan, yeah, you realize that if you read my site daily but Tarte’s matte eyeshadows are the exception. They are incredibly silky, smooth, and easy to blend and a real treat on my drier eyes. I never have issues with Tarte’s matte eyeshadow applying patchy or uneven! There mattes are soft, silky, and blend oh so easily. Matte’s are sometimes a chore to work with but Tarte makes them easy and enjoyable to use. Shades do not fade or crease on me and wear quite strong with or without eyeshadow primer.

The palette is quite warm where Be MATTEnificent was a hint cooler. I personally prefer this as it gives me the ability to create warmer, nude, natural eye looks!

All in all the Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette is one of those essential palettes you’ll find yourself reaching for daily. It’s work friendly yet still gives you the ability to create elegant eye looks easily with a beautifully textured shadow formula that blends like a dream.

Even if mattes aren’t your favorite formula I’m positive the Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette can easily convert you!

Loves this!

Hey Muse! I had to chime in on this one since it is a lovely palette and, did you notice? Made in the USA! It’s been my experience with Tarte (and a few other brands) that their products made in China, like the holiday sets and the QVC palettes, are so-so. But when Tarte puts out a product that they don’t cheap out on by manufacturing in China, the quality is excellent. Just saying.

P.S. Loving all the matte shades lately! Glad you are, too!

    • Isabella Muse

Thankfully I haven’t experienced quality issues with their china palettes but I have noticed this from other brands lately releasing monster palettes or sets, quality is a little down! But in most cases I’m happy with Tarte’s releases both US and China thankfully! Haven’t been burned yet 😀 I’m not sure if the latest Vice was made in China but that had some quality issues for me 🙁 Happy Holidays chica how’s life?

  • Dee

Yeah! Must get. Muse, do you like this better than the Stila matte palette? I want their matte one, but this looks pretty nice.

    • Benni

I got both the Stila Eyes Are Window/Mind matte palette, and this Tartlette palette. All the colors are pretty similar, the distinctive ones being an orange in Stila and a purple in the Tarte one. I love that purple shade (Best Friend), but it, unfortunately, is the worst-performing shadow in the whole palette. The other shades are great, but Best Friend is harder to blend, and can get blotchy, even with primer underneath. Stila, on the other hand, has become my daily go-to. The orange is a dream-come-true that I incorporate into my look every day. So, I’d recommend the Stila palette over the Tartlette.

Thanks for the review. Looks nice! Do you think I can adjustify this one if I have the it one and lorac pro already? I only have 2 eyes after all!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure Gina…It’s really up to you/your budget etc 🙂 I have a lot of eyeshadows and eyeshadow palettes but I always have a hard time saying no!

  • Lacy

I’m definitely like this now that I’ve read your review and seen the swatches.. I’ve been on the fence about grabbing this.. but I think I’l be pulling the trigger and using my $25 rouge coupon on it 🙂 Great review!

  • Rachel R.

I have this and love it, too, even though I’m not a huge matte fan. This and the Naked Basics and Naked2 Basics take care of my matte needs quite nicely.

  • Amber

Hmmm. I like this palette more than I thought I would. I do have the matte full face palette and love it which is why I thought I didn’t need this one but I do love the neutral/nude eye look you are wearing. And since it’s part of the line I think at some point it will probably find it’s way home with me lol! Just not for awhile, I bought too many of the christmas sets from everybody lol and I just bought the naked on the run palette so I need to be good for awhile!

    Good Morning Isabella 🙂

I am so happy I stumbled on your blog as I look forward to your reviews on different products that come out. I have to say you can’t beat the way you review a product especially eye shadow palettes from the description to the swatches and then the application. If I hadn’t found your blog I wouldn’t know about all the VIB rouge exclusives as they surely dont’ tell me in an email. This Tarte palette looks interesting, I still haven’t made a decision on what to buy with my $25.00 discount, pretty much stuck between Kat V and now this one, I am blonde with blue eyes so if you have any suggestions on a nice palette that would suit me I would appreciate your thoughts. Have a great day 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

hi again karen. aw thank you very very much! 🙂 I’m very flattered. I’m really liking the Tartelette Palette at the moment and the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette looks promising as well!!!!!!!! I look forward to hearing what you get!

      • Karen

Just reread your review on this Isabella and I think this may be the palette to join my collection 🙂 I don’t think I own an all Matte palette because I really like a bit of sparkle and a creamier formula (but I might do what one of your followers mentioned “add some sparkle” lol. I will wait till Monday on the mere chance they release another goodie of some kind. I think I will revisit the Smashbox one now that you mentioned it 🙂 Thanks so much for responding Isabella, I look forward to my morning Muse email 🙂

        • Isabella Muse

yay 🙂 excellent choice karen 🙂 Did you end up getting it? Sorry for the delayed reply been so crazy swamped. aw always my pleasure to reply, I love talking to everyone about makeup 😀 let me know if you try this, would love to hear what you think!

  • Sarai

I was so disappointed in myself earlier this year for not picking up Tarte’s Mattenificent Palette, but this is quite similar and even slightly better. So I’ll be quite pleased when I get this, and it’ll be my first Tarte palette!

    PS: Row 1, Naked; Row 2, Naked 3; Row 3, Naked 2.

  • zFashionizta

it’s going to be part of the permanent line; great news (I don’t think any other blogger reported that)!
Since it’s going to be permanent I will wait & use my money to buy the lorac pro 2 palette (I think that one is limited edition).

  • Ashley

Oh… Em… Gee… Muse, this looks absolutely AMAZING! Oh I can’t wait to get my little hands on it! How do you think this compares to Urban Decay’s Naked Basics Palettes? Cuz hey look equally awesome to me!

  • Amy

Hi Muse.mfirst,mi wanted to say how much I ADORE your blog. I read it daily. I work at Ulta, and thus get a discount. I am picking up a few things tomorrow and can’t decide between this one and the first It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty palette (the one from last January)

    • Isabella Muse

oh thanks amy! love ya for that! and super flattered! Fab! Always nice when makeup involves a discount hehe! that’s a tough one! Both are excellent palettes! personally I like the shades in the Naturally Pretty Palette a little bit more! but the textures and formulas on both are incredible and rival each other in terms of quality for sure so either one you go with will be an excellent purchase. I just liked the color selection in the pretty palette a little bit more than the shades in the Tarte palette! So I think it just boils down to that!

  • Emilie

Where did you see that this was permanent? Christine (temptalia.com) said in her review that it was limited edition… I just want to make sure I don’t have to worry about it selling out, I don’t see any specification on the Sephora website.

  • slimkeith

Thanks for the great review-very helpful.
I hope this comes out okay-have you considered placing your blush higher up along your cheekbone instead of the apples of your cheeks? Wayne Goss on Youtube often offers this suggestion-especially for women like us with round cheeks. I’ve found it makes a big difference. Have a great day.

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure Keith. I haven’t, I’ll have to give it a try! Thanks for the tip!!!! you too 🙂 Happy Monday!
