Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara by Kate Moss Review
Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara by Kate Moss is a new edition of Kate Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara launching for Spring 2015. This new formula is supposed to volumize and lift lashes with the same brush as Rimmel’s Rockin’ Curves Scandaleyes Mascara.
Let’s take a look!
For the past several years we’ve been privy to Kate Moss Rimmel Lipsticks but this year they have an entire eye collection featuring a new mascara by Kate as well as eyeshadows (I’ll tell you more about those shortly). I like the packaging on this as it’s a gunmetal barrel with Kate’s autograph in red. Kinda feels and looks Urban Decay-ish! I’m not a huge Kate Moss fan but I imagine it being quite appealing to those that are enamored with her!
Rimmel Rockin Curves ScandalEyes Mascara launched in the US for Fall 2014 and basically has the same exact applicator as the new Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara by Kate Moss. The broken heart shape is a big, curvy brush that looks quite clever at a glance. It’s suppose to twist and curve around lashes to lift them upwards and out. As with Rockin’ Curves I feel like it’s a little messy and awkward to use. It doesn’t quite fir the contour of my lash line well and I end up creating a clumpy mess if I’m not careful.
The formula is a little different from Scandaleyes I’ve tried in the past. It’s a little thicker, a good deal more pigmented, and it does make my lashes slightly stiff and crunchy. I thought that Rockin’ Curves didn’t really give me all that much drama but Kate’s version seems to add a nice bit of length, fullness, and has quite a blacker than black formula as you can see in my photo below.
It’s unfortunately not waterproof and it doesn’t smear, fade, or flake on my drier eyes but I imagine on oily lids you might have an issue. It does remove fairly easily with simple oil based eye makeup remover.
I find it interesting that Rockin’ Curves and ScandalEyes Mascara by Kate Moss have the same brush but perform in such draiastically different ways. The brush still has a slight learning curve, it’s still rather awkward to use, and it still clumps up lashes if you apply too quickly. However, the formula seems considerably better on this than the Rockin’ Curves so I’m seeing nice length and volume both of which I didn’t really get from Rockin’ Curves.
