Isabel & Ruben Toledo Lipstick

Barbeque, Opera, Oxblood, Sin, Tenor Voice, and Victoriana are six, limited edition MAC Isabel & Ruben Toledo Lipstick shades that launched with the MAC Toledo Collection for Spring 2015.

If you a fond fan of red you’re going to adore some of these MAC Lipsticks!

MAC Isabel & Ruben Toledo Lipsticks

The MAC Isabel & Ruben Toledo Lipstick are a must for matte lipstick fans and those who like dramatic shades in particular reds! These come housed in a white barrel with a quirky design and red accents display the “Toledo” signature on the top.

This is long wearing shades of matte color that are very, very pigmented. I can get a solid six hours out of most of shades without featuring or migration issues. They are intense, bold, dramatic, creamy, and matte in finish.

I did have issues with the shade Sin which is a repromoted color from the MAC Rocky Horror Picture Show Collection. It’s a color that I find applies unevenly on me, drags a good deal, and migrates around my lip line. It also feels very dry to me! So out of the six shades I’d give Sin a thumbs down and the other five a big yay!

Although matte these have a nice creamy consistency that isn’t hydrating but not drying either so I don’t feel like moisture is being sucked out of my lips as I wear them! So I feel comfortable wearing these for several hours and indeed several hours is exactly the wear you get from these. Honestly, they feel like MAC’s Amplified Lipsticks to me so if you love that finish you’re bound to adore these shades!

    sadly, you have to be stalking the mac websites when these are released just to find out the shade you want is sold out within a couple of minutes. Then you find it on ebay for a ridiculous amount, this is the thing that gets me frustrated with all those people that do resale. There should be some kind of way to control that.

      • Tammie

        Yeah…I went in person to Nordstrom last night and everything was still in stock no problem. I mean, it’s the day after release in-store so ymmv but yeah…

  • yelena

    I can’t decide which one I want!
    can u comment on which shades are warm tone/cool tone 🙂
    also are any of the reds a blue red?

    • Isabella Muse

      hi yelena

      sin=cool
      opera=cool, blue undertone
      victoriana=cool
      barbeque=warm
      tenor voice=cool, somewhat blue undertone

      Hope this helps!

      • yelena

        yes thank you so much! I went with Victoriana! 😀
        waiting patiently for my order to arrive now…
        who am I kidding, I CANNOT WAIT!

        • Isabella Muse

          haha good for you! I think you’ll love it! All the shades are absurdly gorgeous! let me know what you think when it arrives!

  • Gillie

    Interesting…the swatches, side by side on your arm, looked interchangeable, but I can clearly tell the difference between the various face pictures. They’re all really beautiful, though I think Sin looks a little drier than the others on application (perhaps it’s because you mentioned that it is).

    As much of a fan of red as I am, I am lusting over Oxblood – which is surprisingly not Oxblood in color!

    • Isabella Muse

      yeah I think they swatch and also look (on my lips) a lot alike. It’s hard to get a feel for them just looking at them via pics, def have to check them out in person! I hate sin haha…! It’s a shade I already own and I just feel like it drags horribly, a lot less creamier than the others 😀 LOL! I know right? weird name but lovely color!

  • Katherine T.

    Too bad about Sin, but the other swatches look gorgeous – MAC can do some great mattes. I ordered the Lipgloss in Opera and I can’t wait for it to come!

  • Cindy

    I’m a bold lipstick lover, and I wear red religiously so these were right up my alley! I bought Victoriana, Opera, Tenor Voice, and Barbecue. Every time I look at the Cinderella collection in horror I think to how great the Toledo collection is, hahaha!

  • Tammie

    My hand was covered in red blotches by the time I was done deciding at Nordstrom (since they were all so close I swatched them several different ways and next to Mac reds I already own lol) but I ended up going with Victoriana 🙂 Been wearing it all day, just blotted it a bit after lunch, and it’s still wearing pretty strong with minimal fading on the inside! 🙂

  • Fancie

    I ordered Oxblood and fell in love! It’s such a beautiful nude that’s very easy to wear. I was thinking about going back for Sin but now I’m not too sure. I was hoping it would perform as well as Oxblood

  • Majick

    OMG how can I pick just one? I do want to pick up the latest viva glam too. These all look great on you although I agree about sin.

  • Miss Claire

    I love Opera and Victoriana, but I don’t see any difference, Whish one is your favorite?

      Sin is a permanent mac lipstick. The price was just higher because of the collection, but if you go online, you will find Sin in the regular packaging for $16.

  • heather

    Did MAC give you any info on Oxblood being exclusive to their stores? It’s out of stock online and it never showed up online at Macy’s or Nordstrom online even though they both had all the other shades.

    • Isabella Muse

      I didn’t hear that, wasn’t in mac’s press release, but it is possible it was exclusively online at the mac store and not on counters or at macys/nordstrom.

  • Gadi

    I went yesterday and I didn’t see it in Macy’s or Nordstrom. I was able to find it in a MAC store.

  • heather

    Thank you all for responding! It looks like the perfect nude for me and there don’t appear to be any perfect dupes so I hope I can get my hands on it without paying Ebay prices!

    • Isabella Muse

      have you tried calling New York locations, if you’re not in state, they will ship 🙂
