Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Color ($3.49) are a new matte finish lipstick pencil available in nine shade selections! Can I say how pleasant these are for a matte finish lip product?

I like them well enough but they have quirks that make them a big no!

Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Color for a person who hates matte (Me! Me!) is a very comfortable, wearable formula. These are a swivel up pencil which can used all over lips. They aren’t terribly pigmented but they have enough pigment to provide natural, pretty color on lips. Although matte in finish they have a very, very lightweight feel that isn’t drying. They aren’t a traditional matte finish in my experience with them. They are very light without being too velvety or heavy. They also lack pigment and apply quite sheer but I like how they enhance my natural lip color with just a bit of color.

Now the bad…sometimes they apply patchy, it seems to vary from shade to shade but you can easily go over them for a smoother finish. Most important though is the fact that they snap off from the base and they end up sliding out of the tube! Basically they suffer the same issues that the NYX Lip Creme Pencils do. I purchased five shades and every single one snapped off at the base so I can’t swivel them up or down anymore.

So Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Color provide light, pretty color to lips but the fault packaging makes them a big waste of time. I can see them being major disappointing if you expected something velvety and pigmented however, if you go into the purchase expecting lightly matte natural color you might not be disappointed. But the main problem still remains, the awful packaging!

Sad sigh!
