Ciate Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slick Review & Swatches
Ciate Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slick ($18) is one of several new Ciate makeup products launching for Spring 2015 as a permanent part of the Ciate Collection. Most know Ciate is all about nails but they’ve been slowly venturing into the world of color cosmetics and this Spring they have launched an affordable mid-range collection of delicious makeup products!
Ciate Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slick is one of those products. This five shade selection liquid lipstick is a non drying, long wearing pigmented formula that makes for an excellent start in the makeup world!
Well done Ciate! You’ve successfully capture my attention with this lipstick and made me want to try more of your products.
Ciate Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slick comes packaged up in a playful black box with ribbon accents which extends to inner barrel of the lipstick as well. It weights in at 0.22 oz and has a sponge applicator for application.
For their first venture into the liquid lipstick world Ciate makes a splash. This applies flawlessly with a soft velvety texture on lips and a strong opaque finish. The color pay off is divine with vibrant, color rich payoff that looks incredible on lips. They aren’t moisturizing in my experience but they aren’t drying either and wear for a solid six hours without cracking, smearing, fading, or feathering. The color looks as rich at hour six as it did during the initial few minutes of application!

The formula is creamy with a thicker consistency that’s traditional to most liquid lipsticks. I wrecked my lips recently when testing the new Jordana Modern Matte Lipsticks so I was pretty dry after application of those and proceeded to apply these. Even with dry lips this formula still looked soft, even, and perfect!
Count me impressed.
Ciate Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slick brings together a beautifully creamy formula that applies easily, wears long and strong, and brings gorgeous pigmentation to lips! I’m super impressed they managed to bring together what appears to be a very excellent range of cosmetics. Their niche is nails so to suddenly start producing a range of cosmetics you might question whether they will be able to successfully make the jump but they obviously have. I look forward to seeing where they take this! I’m thinking seasonal collections perhaps limited edition products…! I’ll be looking out and buying.
