Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer Review & Swatches

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer ($6) is a newly formulated long wearing Sheer Envy facial primer that’s launching with the Hard Candy Spring/Summer 2015 Collection.

I should mention I am NOT a fan of Sheer Envy. The color correcting formulas that launched a few months ago are very poorly formulated and pill like mad. Do not want, do not like. So I must admit I was very skeptical of the Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer considering it has the same name as the original formula. If you recall Sheer Envy started off life as a lotion-like formula. Later on when Hard Candy introduced a few more versions the texture and formula was more of a silicone primer.

The newest edition combines both silicones and a creaminess that I actually liked and enjoyed using and even feel confident recommending!

Hard Candy 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer is actually fabulous. Count me impressed. This comes housed in a 1.3 oz squeeze tube that promoted 12 hours of contentious makeup wear. All can say is at least it’s not promising 48 hours right? Who even wears makeup for 48 hours? Dear brands, stop with the crazy wear time promises!

This face primer is a water base with silicones. It’s a creamy texture that applies and absorbs easily into skin. I LOVE the texture. It’s not the typical silicone primer as it has a nice creaminess to it. It doesn’t pill during application nor does it pill as I apply my foundation or BB Cream which Sheer Envy has been prone to do in past formulas. Personally it reminds me of a thicker textured version of Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer or even sporting the thickness of L’Oreal Miracle Blur. This smooths on evenly and leaves behind a soft, semi matte finish. Be careful as too much makes skin feel a little oily so just a small dollop is plenty for your entire face. I find it smooths the appearance of smaller visible pores on my nose and gives my skin a smother, softer appearance while creating a base for foundation to adhere too. If you have larger visible pores this should do well concealing filling and blurring their appearance so your foundation looks smoother and softer. I wouldn’t say it promoted 12 hours of longer wear but it did keep my foundation wearing for an extra few hours. For sensitive users it does have a slight playdoh-like fragrance which wasn’t unpleasant but could disturb those with sensitivities.

I noticed some of my older Sheer Envy primers had a knack for having separation issues so I’m hoping that Fast & Fabulous 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer doesn’t have the same problem as thus far I really, REALLY like this.

All in all Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous 12 Hour Long Wear Face Primer is a super affordable, budget friendly face primer with a great formula. Hard Candy did a great job reformulating this primer! I really liked how well it prepped for makeup and the fact it did in fact extend the wear of my foundation for a few extra hours. And hey, at six bucks? You can’t beat it!

All these new products I want to go out and get!!! I want to try the new glamoflauge foundation, this primer, and more!!!! I did get the new makeup setting spray just haven’t used it yet. What do you recommend for a few more good face primers? I currently use the cc colored clay from Tarte I like how it has some color to help cover some of my redness before applying my foundation but I feel it doesn’t help my foundation last long. Have you tried the new Maybelline fit me matte poreless foundation? That and the glamoflauge foundations have good reviews on YouTube.

if you can still find the revlon photoready one I really love it. I also like the new maybelline master primers as well as the new Lumene primer that I recently reviewed πŸ˜€ I haven’t. I don’t get on well with matte foundations. I’m dry! I reviewed the glamouflauge last week and really enjoyed it πŸ™‚

I read your reviews on the primers you mentioned. I do have oily skin in the T zone area. What would you recommend for a good primer with oily skin? Thanks

  • Louie B.

I’ve been using this primer for over a week and it’s awesome! I have combo skin and it’s been keeping my t zone matte and doesn’t dry out my cheeks. Love!

How would you say that this compares to the Maybelline Master Primer? That’s been my current go-to water and silicone-based primer and I like it okay, but this sounds promising.

    • Isabella Muse

this is thicker Jenny, bit more creamy, and considerably more silicone-y in texture.

Hmm, I think I’ll give it a try then, especially since it’s cheaper and a little bigger than the Master Prime. Thanks! This will also give me an excuse to order the new Glamoflauge foundation, since I’ve been waffling about trying it.

I have been waiting to hear your thoughts on this before I step foot into a walmart! So excited to hear you like it and that it actually extends the wear of foundations, yeahhhhh! Definitely picking this up now, thank you Muse!

Do you wear it how it says on the packaging apply foundation immediately after applying primer? Or do you wait until it dries a bit?
