Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Translucent Finishing Powder

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Translucent Finishing Powder ($6) is a new transparent silica that launched with the new Hard Candy Spring/Summer 2015 Makeup Collection recently which is available exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com.

There’s definitely something to be said about $6 translucent finishing powder that you can easily purchase at your local Wally World. As far as pressed silica powder goes it is a little lacking at the drugstores. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of pressed powders and loose ones but simple silica powder? Not really. I’m surprised we didn’t a round of “HD” drugstore products by now, guess the drugstore missed the mark there.

None the else if you’re on a beauty budget six bucks might seem fab but my experience with Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Translucent Finishing Powder was meh!

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Powder

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Translucent Finishing Powder comes housed in a plastic compact that holds 0.32 oz of product and is marked at $6. If it had a great formula this would prove a deal and a half! It unfortunately comes without a sponge or brush and no mirror. This isn’t an issue for me as in most cases I prefer using my own tools for application but a mirror for touch ups on the go would be nice.

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Finishing Powder

The powder is a bit dense initially but there is a bit of an outer shell that needs sweeping away. Use some tissue to rub at the powder a little and you’ll find it loses the top level of density. Now the powder is kinda an iffy formula for me. I’m not big on setting my foundation with powder because I have drier skin but when I do I want something that won’t cling to my drier areas. This clings! It also has a odd crumbly texture (as you can see in my swatch) that looks very dry on skin. It just has a way of not smoothing evenly into place and looks very patchy nad pasty on skin. The texture kinda sorta has some silkiness to it but it also morphs a little and becomes crumbly as you apply it.

Not a good look!

There is a very subtle unpleasant fragrance to it as well but it’s not something that hits you in the face when the compact is opened. You really have to stick your nose in the palette to notice.

All in all this one was a miss for me. I just didn’t like the way it performed on my drier skin. The texture is very odd and not particularly flattered once applied!

Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Translucent Finishing Powder is available now exclusively at Walmart.

I have drier skin, and I’m *loving* the WnW Fergie pressed silica powder-which is only $4! I also really like the Sonia Kashuk one, but it costs around $10, and isn’t quite as silky as the WnW.

That’s disappointing. – I really do not like the packaging on this one.

I miss the Hard Candy Moon Glow powder – I wish they’d bring that one back.

I was so excited to find this because of how budget friendly it is– but you’re right, the formula is off. I really dislike it!!!!

It’s so interesting how, once and a while, a product will work so differently for different people! I’ve only used this powder once so far, but I loved it for my very pale, somewhat oily skin!! When I swatched it on my arm, I wasn’t at all impressed, but when actually seeing how it performed on my face, I loved it! I can imagine it would be a very different experience for those with dry skin though. I will have to try it out a few more times before I can say I love it for sure haha, but so far so good!
