MAC Sagu Eyeshadow Duo ($22) is one of three MAC duos launching in the MAC Julia Petit Makeup Collection for Spring 2015.

The this Eyeshadow Duo as well as the rest of the MAC Julia Petit Collection arrives on counters on March 19th but here’s an early sneak peek of this duo!

MAC Julia Petit Sagu Eyeshadow Duo

The MAC Julia Petit Sagu Eyeshadow Duo contains two shades of MAC eyesahdow in the shades Druzy and Black Plum. Julia’s packaging is fairly basic with an orange accent featuring her name on the clear cover of the compact and the outer box but not much other fanfare. It’s MAC’s basic packaging with a simple accent and nod to Julia Petit.

I think the duo has potential to create very nice looks but the Lustre formula is always a hit or miss and one of the two shades in this compact is in fact a MAC Lustre Eyeshadow. Druzy is a dubbed a purple mauve, personally it looks like slightly mauve taupe. It has a good deal of sparkle and glitter which means fall out is on the horizon. I tend to use a sponge eyeshadow applicator with Lustre finishes as I can get a smoother finish and less fall out. I always find Lustre’s get really hard after a few uses which makes them difficult to pick up with regular brushes. I like the way they look on my eyes just no the way the formula applies and later on morphs.

The other shade in this duo is Black Plum. This a is brownish burgundy shade which looks quite lovely on the outer v and crease when paired up with Druzy. It’s a little patchy during application and runs drier but blends out smoothly with a little bit of good pressure.

The MAC Julia Petit Sagu Eyeshadow Duo is a nice shade selection which can create very nice looks but the formula has its issues which you might or might not be willing to put up with. Personally, I think you can find dupes easily of both shades with a far easier to work with formula and texture.

The MAC Julia Petit Sagu Eyeshadow Duo will be available this month at MAC counters and online at maccosmetics.com.

I’ve never tried a lustre shadow but it definitely doesn’t seem to be a fan favorite lol. Everyone says pretty much the same thing about the formula. I like these colors together but I think the lighter shade may be a little too fussy for my taste
