Makeup Revolution Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick Review & Swatches

Makeup Revolution Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick

Makeup Revolution Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick is a cheaper alternative to Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick that I recently discovered. What if I told you you can get four shades of Makeup Revolution Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick for less than the price you’d pay for one Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick?

It’s true!

Four shades, sold as a package, would set you back $18! Or if you want you can purchase individual shades for $4.59 each!

Pretty sweet deal right?

Of course, the deal breaker is Make Up Revolution is a British brand so airmail costs are involved but I recently ordered and didn’t pay a ton of money for my massive order. And say you wanted to order the four make of the Lip Lava Liquid Lipsticks it would only set you back $4.53 for airmail. Still a bargain in my opinion.

Makeup Revolution is actually really guilty of copying a lot of different things from the Too Faced Collection so they have their own dupes and variations of the Too Faced Sweetheart Blush, Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette, Melted Lipstick, etc….! You’re either scandalized by this or you find it kinda funny and cool that you can dupes of the same products Too Faced makes for much, much less!

Makeup Revolution Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick Swatches (Firestorm)

I wouldn’t call Makeup Revolution Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick identical to Too Faced Melted Lipstick but it sure is pretty darn close to the formula!

The Lip Lava formula comes in a squeeze tube with an attached sponge applicator. The texture is a little thinner in consistency than the Too Faced formula but it’s still quite thick and quite creamy. It has a liquid lipstick texture but is a hybrid formula with the incredible pigmentation of a lipstick and the shine of a gloss. At first application the finish comes across quite glossy but I find it wears down to more of a satiny matte. It’s not an unwearable matte though! It’s very comfortable, not drying, and looks very smooth and flawless at the first hour of application and well into hour five. I didn’t have issues with the color, as strong as it was, migrating or feathering and they wear was well beyond five hours with a strong stain that was left over after hour six. The taste is a little weird as they seem unflavored but they do have a bit of a subtle something something going on..kinda plasticity? But it isn’t terrible!

One of the biggest raves here is the incredible pigmentation. I only tried one shade, Firestorm, and at a single pass it’s completely opaque! The color is bright, bold, and very vibrant!

As I said above they aren’t a completely dupe of Too Faced’s formula. There’s a few minor differences but if I’m honest these are just as good if not better than Too Faced’s formula! If you want loud, bright, bold lip color you will NOT be disappointed with Makeup Revolution’s Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick!

The shade looks very nice on you Muse. I have to check the website. Thanks for info.

Oh this makes me so happy. I wanted to love the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks so bad, but I never really got the hang of them (made a big mess…) and the price tag didn’t justify me keeping it. Very excited to try again with a cheaper dupe, yaaay!

Wow, that is a great red!! I’ve been lurking on their website for months but still haven’t purchased anything. They seem to have a lot of really nice lip products.

so far I’ve been having good experiences with them Angel 😀 might be worth hauling!

  • Fancie

Looks beautiful on you! The formula doesn’t sound too bad either. Looks like a great dupe!

Great RED! I’m not a fan of the TF Melted. I have the coral one and it’s a great color. I haven’t worn it in so long I can’t even remember why I don’t like it. I think it had something to do with the application and how it tends to look over time.
AHH, I’ll dig it out and try again, why not? They have a dupe for this in the drugstore now too. I forget who makes it, but I saw it with the dupes for the OC LIp tar.

Is it the LA Girl lip paint I think? I do like the colors of those & I bough 2 different shades. Do you know what the OCC dupe is?

It’s crazy that airmail for one company from the UK to the US is as little as $4.53, yet the price I have just paid for airmail from a US company to the UK (same journey just the other way around!) was $17.95! Think some companies totally take the piss.

  • Monica

Love, love love the TF Melted!! I have several shades. I might have to dig around on e(vil)Bay for these!
