The Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Eye Shadow Palette in Desert Escape ($19.99) is a new, limited edition eyeshadow palette that launched with the Sonia Kashuk Spring 2015 Target Makeup Collection.

Thus far Sonia’s Spring 2015 Collection has really been a hit for me! The blush, the highlighter palette, everything in this collection just worked out great for me. I love corals and oranges for Spring and Summer looks so I definitely enjoyed this color selection!

Let’s take a look at the Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Eye Shadow Palette!

The Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Eye Shadow Palette might seem familiar and that’s because this style palette was introduced earlier last year with the Sonia Kashuk Holiday 2014 Collection. This is a new style eyeshadow palette for the brand and it quite strikes a luxurious chord but thankfully lacks the high end price tag!

This is a striped design that features an imprint of Sonia’s initials embossed on the powder. The shadows are a range of shades in a range of different formulas from matte, to shimmer, to satin. There are four colors total each of which has a powdery yet very silky texture! The satin sparkly sparkly shades have a velvet texture quite reminiscent of the Stila Kitten Eyeshadow formula. They apply very smoothly but they tend to blend out with a little difficulty when using more than one shade. I did end up with a slightly muddy mess at times since the colors look identical to each other so it’s a little difficult to get contrast and definition without running colors together. There is some fall out due to the powdery texture but the shadows aren’t dry or chalky in the least and have a nice silky feel with excellent pigmentation.

The color scheme is a warm taupe-y selection of shades with touches of brown and cooper. It’s a very bronze-y shade selection but lacks the sandy beachy colors you might associate with Spring which means you can get a very nice, sultry look from the palette.

It has a few quirks during blending but the Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Eye Shadow Palette is a gorgeous palette none the less and such a high quality item that’s packaged beautifully, is visually beautiful, and has a lovely texture, formula, and pigment. No one would guess it was a Target score as it just has a very counter makeup vibe to it. I like where Sonia has been going lately with her seasonal collections and I must say Spring 2015 has made me quite excited to see what she has in store for us this Summer!

Was just thinking the same thing- I was looking at swatches of that palette last night!

  • Dee

The swatches look shimmery but don’t too much so on your lids. Is that what you find? They really do look gorgeous!

these def are shimmery/frosty Dee. But they do blend out nicely so it isn’t disco ball finish 🙂

The colors are really nice – they remind me of one of the LORAC palettes I have. I think one of the chocolate bar ones.

Very pretty colours and I think they would work with any other colours you might want to use with them. It is fantastic that such a good product is produced at a reasonable price.
