Urban Decay Gash Lipstick Returns for Spring 2015

Urban Decay Gash Lipstick 5

Last Spring, Urban Decay gifted us with the return of Gash Revolution Lipstick which is the red to end all red lipsticks. I happen to think I look like Bozo the Clown in every single shade of red lipstick I try but I’m still drawn to gorgeous, pigmented reds like Urban Decay Gash Revolution Lipstick. So, you can try and stop me from wearing it but I’ll still parade around like I’m a super model with it in on my lips.

Why?

Because there’s something about red lipstick that makes girls and guys feel very confident and sexy.

And Urban Decay Gash Revolution Lipstick is just that type of red lipstick.

Wende Zomnir, co-founder of Urban Decay Cosmetics, has long since said that Gash is one of her favorite shades of lipstick and really who can blame her? This vampy shade of red is crazy pigmented with a formula that’s dreamy, creamy, and glides across lips like liquid butter.

Urban Decay calls Gash a deep red with tonal shimmer but for me its ruby red with very little shimmer or sparkle and a high shine finish. The color is vibrant and fully opaque on a single application with a wear of six hours without fading or migrating.

I, for one, happen to be very excited about the return of Urban Decay Gash Revolution Lipstick. Now I just wish they’d keep it around permanently because it happens to be shade that every makeup lover should have in their stash.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. I’m so glad this shade is back as I missed it last year! I was just wondering what other makeup you had on in the last pic? 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

hi Amy! I’m wearing the new La Palette Nude from Loreal on my eyes and NARS Orgasm on my cheeks.

  • Heather F.

    A) Gorgeous color on you!
    B) Maybe it’s just because I was raised in the 90s and too young to wear makeup at the time, but I LOVE the resurgence of vampy lip colors! (Also brownish lipsticks. My first lipstick, courtesy of my totally rad older sister, was totally a 90s brown.) Yay!
    C) Do you have any idea how LE it is this go-round? Like, “throw it in my cart right now, budget be hanged” LE?

    • Isabella Muse

thanks heather!! 🙂 hard to say with Gash! some of the hype might be over because it did have a huge “OMG THIS IS LE” release last year so everyone hoarded it big time so it might be a bit before you see it disappear! but I’m not sure. Sometimes these things just sell out fast!

      • Heather F.

Welp, I should’ve been quicker–apparently this batch sold out earlier this week and CS says they don’t know if they’ll be (re)re-released.. C’est la vie!

  • Rachel

I have this in the previous formula and even though I look horrid in red, I still wear it (albeit, around the house)! I know there isn’t much (if any) difference in color between the two formulas, but I am tempted to pick it up in the new formula as well. Talk me out of it!! LOL

    • Isabella Muse

haha you don’t need it. it’s identical to last year’s release honey!

  • terry lam

love the color on you Muse! stunning red. I collected most of the nudes in this line…love red on others but feel like its too much on me. lol ill play with it around the house only, sad! haha

    • Isabella Muse

thanks terry! no worries I feel fairly uncomfortable in red too 🙂 <3!

  • Cel

While I watched Cinderella all I could think about was that I needed a deep satin-y red lipstick similar to what the daughters and the stepmother was wearing so I checked out the nars audacious but this looks better!

  • devon

oooh…i want to parade around in that red lipstick too!!! looks gorg on you muse!!

  • Unpaletteable

This is a gorgeous ruby shade, and pretty unique amongst red lipsticks…if it wasn’t for the name I’d be tempted. Maybe it’s not used in the states but here in the UK ‘gash’ is a pretty ugly word. Shame on you, Urban Decay!

    • Rorie

Not just in the UK – Canadian here and the name makes me wince enough that I can’t even be tempted…

  • Kate

You look so pretty with this red lipstick! it makes your skin glow!

  • Adrienne

Muse-Since you are all things makeup. Could you tell me if this is the color that Urban Decay had on the model when they were advertising the Perversion Mascara? I could never locate it or find the name and its looks VERY similar and if it was limited edition or discontinued this could be why. Looks like this is a must buy for me.

    Thanks

    • Isabella Muse

ah I’m not sure Adrienne! Sometimes they say on their blog or in smaller print on the site or even in their youtube videos. Have you tried tweeting them to ask? I’m sorry I don’t have a clue!

  • Hanna

I still have an original 90s tube of gash, in the shotgun bullet case.
Back when UD was still making blue and silver lippies.
I clearly don’t wear it anymore, but ocassionally I take it out and stare at it and wish they would actually re-release it.

My original tube is more ruby than this and it’s METALLIC. Like vampy red foil.
In the 90s it was my favorite lipstick and I had at least ten tubes.
I wish they would bring it back for real, because I loved it!

  • Veronica

I have the original in the glorious old packaging, and it’s definitely more matte in texture than the newer lipstick line. I’m still mulling over whether I think the glossier look is worth having a backup, though it baffles me why they won’t add this to the main line. A berry-toned, deeper red is something the line could use.

  • Genevieve

Love, love, love that colour – it really rocks. Looks so great on you!

  • Myka

Love the packaging but unfortunately its too red for me…. Too bad cause I have the hardest time finding a good red too. Thanks for the review!

And it really helps a lot to actually see how the product “looks” on an actual person so thank you for that as well!

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure myka! Sorry this doesn’t work for you but there zillions of other reds ;-D thank you, I’m glad you feel that way! not everyone likes a full face pic, mostly people prefer close up lip shots which I stink at :-/

  • Mary Kay

I took your advice, because I have similar coloring to you, and was able to snag two of them. Very excited!

    • Isabella Muse

GOOD FOR YOU! 🙂 I hope you love. Come back Mary Kay and let me know what you think!
