Pixi Undercover Crayon5

Pixi Undercover Crayon ($14) is a new retractable concealer pencil that’s available in four shade selections which launched for the Summer 2015 season. As a fan of Pixi Correction Concentrate and Pixi Concealing Concentrate and and an overall concealer junkie I was excited to give the new Undercover Crayon a whirl.

I haven’t actually tried any of the color variations as of yet as they do have a fair to warm shade selection! I did however, try out the Perk Up Peach shade which is a corrector of sorts in a soft peach shade that can neutralize and brighten up tired eyes.

Does it work?

Pixi Undercover Crayon4

Pixi Undercover Crayon launches as the perfect time as the weather is JUST starting to warm up and I’m starting to lighten up my makeup routine. I think blushing cheeks, a little mascara, and dash of tinted moisture and just the barest hint of brightening concealer is plenty for my Summer makeup routine. This little crayon gives me just the right amount of brightening power without over doing my makeup. Loves it!

This is a chunky retractable pencil so no need for a sharpener. It houses 0.07 oz of concealing power and will set you back $14 at Target or on Pixi’s website (likely less because Pixi has 20% off sales quite often plus quite often there are sales and coupons at Target).

If you already like and use the Correction Concentrate you can think of the peach shade of Undercover Crayon as a portable version of it as the colors are quite similar (the crayon is a smidge lighter)! The formulas are different though as I find the crayon a little less creamy. It is a fairly dense pencil at first pass but warms up quickly enough and goes nicely creamy. As I said it does run drier though so if you have dry eyes you’ll want to prep well prior to use for the best glide and application. It sets to a satin finish under my eyes but doesn’t crease or fade easily and never looks cakey. On my medium fair skin the peach shade is actually pretty freaking amazing. I wouldn’t say it’s super pigmented nor would I say it acts as a concealing product it does however, brighten up eyes dramatically. I have larger eyes that dominate my face and they tend to look tired without proper coverage. A little dash of this under my eyes and suddenly I’m looking like I had 12 hours of rest or at the least a week off at a tropical resort somewhere with nothing to do other than stare at the water! It just perks up eyes dramatically.

Personally I like using it on natural no makeup days. A little tinted moisturizer, a little cheek stain, and a bit of Undercover Crayon under my eyes and I’m looking all kinds of fresh and fabulous. It’s easy enough though, should you like, to use as a partner in crime to your concealer. First apply your first, allow it to set, now follow up with a quick swipe of Undercover Crayon! Pat, blend, and BOOM instant brightening power!

As I mentioned above the formula isn’t as creamy or as hydrating as I would like but it sets well and doesn’t cake or crease under my finely lined, drier eyes so I’ll give a pass for not being as moisturizing or soft as I had hoped for!

If you have tired eyes that need a little pick me up I’d definitely check out the Perk Up Peach shade of the new Pixi Undercover Crayon! Now I wonder how I’ll like the concealer shades in this pencil hmmmmm!

Thanks for reviewing! Saw this on their site the other day and was very curious 😉 I have oily yet older eyes so I’m unsure of the crayon vs pot. I’ve got major dark circles to boot. Tried IT cosmetics at Ulta but ouch on the price tag 🙁

For an under eye concealer pencil, this thing seemed way too hard to apply to me. When I tested it out in the store I had to press down decently hard to get it to show up, so I can’t imagine tugging it along my dark circles and blending it out. I think the other shades are great with that texture for concealing, but for the delicate under eye it’s a no-go.

In terms of brightening effect, how does this compare to Maybelline Instant Age Rewinder concealer in Brightener? Instead of the straight up peach color, it leans a little nude/pink. Have you try that one out? Thanks!
