Covergirl Outlast Long Wear Lipstick Review & Swatches
Covergirl Outlast Long Wear Lipstick are launching now at drugstores for Summer 2015. A few shades are available in a new Covergirl Stay Naturally Luminous All Day display at drugstores but I think it is safe to say these will be available in a larger launch shortly and will likely become a permanent part of Covergirl’s core makeup collection.
When I first saw them I had an instant flash back to Revlon’s Ultra HD Lipstick because of the clear packaging. Also, they happen to have the exact same packaging which doesn’t fully twist down the lipstick (hellloo annoying!).
Let’s take a look at Covergirl Outlast Long Wear Lipstick.
The display of Covergirl Outlast Long Wear Lipsticks I ran across only had three or four shades but as I mentioned above I’m sure we’ll see a bigger launch soon! These come in a silver slim tube with a clear lid that houses .12 oz of lipstick. The packaging is annoying to me as the lipstick does not twist fully down which means you can’t rush closing the lipstick less you take a chunk off the tip with the lid as you close it. Sucks. I can understand that they want the purchaser to see the actual shade in the tube clearly but not being able to twist the lipstick down just means I’m more likely to waste chunks of it when closing it up. Not cool!
As for the formula I wouldn’t say I love it but I sure do like it and it is considerably nicer than Revlon’s Ultra HD which I felt was a bit too heavy. This is a thinner texture but is apparent when worn. It’s the type of formula you kinda just know it’s on your lips which I don’t necessarily love. It’s marketed as a moisturizing formula which it is not. It isn’t drying but it is in no way moisturizing either or “super powered with moisture” as it says on the display.

The best thing about this formula is the pigmentation and excellent application. I have drier lips and these apply beautifully. They glide on very nicely with a thin slightly creamy texture and have a super smooth, even finish. I was very, very impressed with the smooth finish. The formula doesn’t cling to drier ares nor does it fall into natural lip lines. It looks like a lip tattoo or something! It’s just very flawless and perfect in finish. For me the finish feels almost semi-matte yet slightly satiny. It wears for about five hours without migrating or any feathering issues. It does transfer though so if you’re drinking some tea, etc you’ll find it leaves a lip ring around your cup or mug.
The pigmentation is very, very nice. Both shades I purchased had full color coverage on a single pass and looked even more intense and vivid with a second application (I’m wearing a single application in my looks below).
Covergirl Outlast Long Wear Lipstick definitely shows promise! Excellent formula, very nice pigmentation, and a strong wear make these a nice budget pick!
